At least 12 people were killed and 31 wounded in a pair of shootings Thursday at the Fort Hood, Texas, the Army said. An army spokesman said the base was locked down after the shootings. Another official told The Asociated Press that at least one shooter had been caught.

The FBI was sending agents to the scene.

Army spokesman Lt. Col. Nathan Banks says the first shooting began at about 1:30 p.m. at a personnel and medical processing office. The facility, called a Soldier Rating and Processing center, handles administrative details for soldiers.

Banks says two shooters were apparently involved. There was no immediate word on who they were, nor on identities of the dead.

Banks says the second incident took place at a theater on the sprawling base.

Another Army official identified that site as the Howze Theater.

That official, who requested anonymity to discuss an evolving incident, said a graduation had been scheduled for 2 p.m. at the theater.

As the White House gathered details on the shooting, President Barack Obama was still planning to speak late Thursday afternoon at the closing of a White House conference with the American Indian leaders, being held at the Interior Department. Obama was running behind in departing the White House, though.

It was not clear whether the president would address the shooting during his appearance at the event.

Homeland Security spokeswoman Sara Kuban said officials are still collecting information on the shootings. "DoD, DHS, FBI and other members of the intelligence community are assessing and gathering facts about the shooting," Kuban said. "Because this is early in this event, we cannot at this time confirm motives behind these shootings."

As tragic as it is, it is also fishy...

(CNN) -- A senior officer who was playing golf Thursday near Fort Hood, Texas, told CNN he witnessed the arrest of one of the two surviving suspects of the shooting at the Army installation.

Shortly after the shooting, the officer said, military police told him to clear the course and he saw other MPs surround the building that held the golf carts, he said.

The senior officer said he ducked into a nearby house for cover as 30 to 40 cars carrying MPs approached.

He said he saw a soldier in battle-dress uniform, his hands in the air. The MPs ordered him to lie on the ground and open his uniform, presumably to ensure he was not carrying explosives, the senior officer said.

He said an MP told him that authorities considered the man to be a suspect in the shootings after having overheard the man say he was with the shooter.

The man was surrounded for 25 to 30 minutes, until a convoy of vehicles arrived, led by a Ford Crown Victoria and carrying men in suits, and he was taken away, the senior officer said.

The golf course is about 2.5 miles from Fort Hood, the officer told CNN.

Who was arrested and taken away in Crown Vics with men in business suits from a golf course 2 miles away?

How can one guy shoot 43 people?

Where are the other suspects...

From whatreallyhappened.com:

I think that a GROUP of soldiers rebelled against further deployment. This is why we had early reports of multiple shooters, numbering up to 5.

But 5 soldiers shooting their officers signals mutiny in the ranks. It recalls the "fragging" of Vietnam days. It looks really bad to the citizenry. It could even spread to other soldiers and other bases where the military are stretched to the breaking point.

So, the DC boys look around and say, "Oh, we have this dead Muslim guy; we'll just blame it on him!" And presto-chango, five shooters pissed off with the wars becomes one conveniently dead Jordanian Palestinian Muslim with possible links to Al Qaeda.

Only turns out Major Hasan isn't dead. Which creates a whole new problem the instant he gets off that ventilator at the hospital.

Which is hardly likely to happen.

Meanwhile, the top of this article reports that Hasan was making the normal preparations for deployment. He emptied out his apartment, gave away things he didn't want to take with him, and told everyone he was deploying today. Does that sound like a man about to go postal?

Glutes: Guess what - He's off the ventilator - now what.

It's entirely possible that he gave away all his stuff because he figured he'd just keep shooting people until someone took him out.

You obviously know nothing about semi-automatic weapons, which IMO are mass human killing devices and should be outlawed in the general population.
