As I type this I'm on a plane flying away from Denver. It's been my "home" for the last 3 weeks. Aside from spending Christmas there two years ago for a week, I hadn't really experienced it until this past June for 3 days. Then again for 5 days in July. The second trip only reconfirmed that this city has much character and a lot to offer...so that prompted my longer residence.

I wanted to post a couple of the places I found that caused me to enjoy the city.

Pete's Kitchen

Featured in USA Today and recognized by many national review companies, this Greek diner has much character and stands out from the nearby competition. I swear I've eaten here the last week almost every night between midnight and 2 am. The hamburger is great, loved the french fries...and they have good gyros as well. It's one of the after-club places that's always packed and located in the gay "Cap Hill" area. Even on a weeknight, the place isn't empty throughout the night.

Vinyl

It's gay on Sunday night. Inside there's two stories...but the best part is the rooftop deck above those. There's an inside dance floor that leads out to the very large deck. Always a large crowd and dancers. Unfortunately, due to season this was closed much of the time I was here this trip...but for anyone visiting during the summer, it's a place to check out.

Tracks

For the Denver club scene, go to tracks. Dancers...two separate dance floors. The last night I went they had regular club tech in the main area and 80's in the smaller.

JR's Bar & Grill

Two-story bar with pool table. A much more relaxed crowd. The nights I went out, the hotties were at the other clubs...but if you want to relax and just have a drink, this is a good place.

As far as accommodations, if you's going to be in a hotel, stay at the Sheraton Downtown on 16th and Court. 16th Street is the Outdoor Mall...which is basically just a bunch of restaurants but it's still a fun place to be in. Within walking distance you can enjoy dinner at:

Earl's Restaurant & Bar

Nice inside decor. The upper level opens to the outside. The food is well presented...ok to eat, but I've enjoyed the atmosphere each time I've eaten there.

And, of course, nearby are the Rocky Mountains...which are good for a day visit. Below is a picture from my trip in June.

Looking forward to the next time I pass through...probably in the late Spring.

You know thats funny because since I have connections in Denver I was really thinking about going to check it out soon myself. Now that you've mentioned some things about, I think I'll put it on the menu.

Well, I came out in Denver since I was chickenshit to do it in my hometown. Boy, the fun I had. The people and the bars there were just great. I won't say when it was, but everybody was still barebacking then.
