I'm not trying to justify discrimination, but does this guy think about his choices? He lives in Broward County, first of all. Then he appears on "Temptation Island" as a seducer. Then he does gay porn. Does he really want to keep his job? I could see that living in a different place those choices might be overlooked, but isn't Broward County one of the most conservative places in the U.S.? Coming out as gay would probably be enough for the school board there to want to get rid of him, especially since he teaches gym. (You know, gay men are all pedophiles, yadda, yadda, yadda.)

Two clarifications. He did a jerk-off video, by himself. In the video, as per the review, he "admits" to being straight. While the video is produced for gay men, how different is this from posing for say Playgirl? Broward had a reputation, in the early 90s, for being the more liberal of the South Florida counties. This has changed, as the state itself has changed, due to the influx of people moving in.

 

Finally, the far more interesting thing to me is that this guy was a gym teacher and that he thought he could live down the video tape in a Southern town, which is similar to the story of Ty Fox, who was also a P.E. teacher, from Viginia, if I recall correctly? Ty Fox actually did gay porn, including the famous movie where he went down -- big yawn -- on someone.

If you are at all interested in the story I suggest checking out the whole article. The problem appears not to be the Temptation Island gig. Tho I would want his ass fired for that piece of trash. Tbe issue was some kind of participation on some kind of website. Anybody have any idea what it could be?

 

Lets not bash the folks of Broward Co. too soon. Im sure all teachers have some kind of public conduct clause in their contracts and I could see why they might have a problem with an erotic performer being a teacher.

 

I was interested to read in the article that Broward Co. schools fired a straight teacher (presumably) for being busted at one of the swinger clubs in Ft. Lauderdale. So its not a "gay" thing per se.

 

And I would politely suggest that Broward Co. is one of the most liberal areas of the country. With Ft. Lauderdale and Wilton Manors being particularly gay oriented. I believe Wilton Manors is having or just had a mayoral election where one candidate accused the oher of not being gay enough for the job. The one straight candidate said she hope that Wilton Manors voters wont hold her heterosexuality against her at the ballot box.

 

It was quite a bit different when I was growing up there. Thank God times have changed at least some.

It's not all that similar to the Ty Fox incident. Fox was married, with children and did gay porn without telling his wife. As you pointed out, he also "went all the way" where the other guy apparently only did a jerk off video. In Fox's case, if memory serves, it was his wife that blew the whistle when she found out he wasn't really going to a "conference" all those times.

 

It's interesting that the story mentions appearing on "a gay porn website". There are a half-dozen or so webcam sites based in S. Florida, and it could be any one of 'em. They're usually solo jerkoff shows, but often the guys have "guests" and they fool around. Even if he didn't participate in those sessions, it might be the association with them that the school is objecting to.

Well, now there's a condescending statement if I ever heard one!

 

If he has lost his job of gym teacher, it's probably the best thing that ever happened to him as the pay would be peanuts. With his looks he could make mucho in many other ways.
