Why is the publisher being so quiet about the release of Dan Brown's new book? You'd think they would let people know when it is coming out. I imagine it will sell well, so bookstores should be letting us know too. Why the conspiracy of silence about this book? Why, if they tried hard enough, and maybe discounted the price, they could make sure that every man, woman, and child in the country has a copy!

The plot line has been released, so at least we have some idea of what it is about:

An ancient cipher whose key is somewhere in Hooville.

A nefarious cult determined to protect it.

A desperate race to uncover NAMBLA's darkest secret.

The Sacred Rune

When world-famous Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to the Happy Trail to analyze a mysterious rune—imprinted on a gold ring lying next to the disfigured form of the head docent—he discovers evidence of the unthinkable: the resurgence of the ancient cult of the Truministas, a secret branch of NAMBLA that has surfaced from the shadows to carry out its legendary vendetta against its mortal enemy, the Vatican.

Langdon's worst fears are confirmed when a messenger from the Truministas appears in Hooville to deliver a macabre ultimatum: Deposit $1 billion in NAMBLA's off-shore bank accounts or the exclusive clothier of the Swiss Guards will be bankrupted. As the city braces for disaster, Langdon joins forces with the firm-thighed and enigmatic son of the murdered docent in a desperate bid to crack the code that will reveal the cult's secret plan.

Embarking on a frantic hunt, Langdon and his companion follow a 800-year-old trail through Hooville's most venerable forums and historic libraries, pursued by a peg-legged assassin the cult has sent to thwart them. What they discover threatens to expose a conspiracy that goes all the way back to Allen Ginsberg and the very founding of NAMBLA.

Giving away the plot line

Thanks, Lucky. I would not have seen a summary that accurate if you had not passed it on to us.

Next, we need a Brown-esque novel with a gay hero who twists, penetrates, and generally performs like a piston to solve the riddle of the Rectum Mondi. Oh, and he has a hot boyfriend, too.

And, like Brown, short chapters, but LOTS of them.

Many of my tweet peeps have the book.

I went to two book stores in Dallas and they were sold out on copies. I'm waiting for the next truck to arrive with new copies so I have something to read while on my upcoming flights.

The book was released on Tuesday. There were full-page ads in the NY Times and other publications. The book sold over a million copies in the first few days, so I don't think a lot of folks needed a reminder that it was being published on Sept 15. Barnes & Noble, Borders and Amazon have been accepting advance orders for months.

I got my copy the other day!

hmm

I didn't like any of Dan Brown's books. The story line doesn't sit well with me. I like to read John Grisham's books instead. Somehow I can't put down his novels once I start reading them. I like to read about handsome lawyers in action. Lucky were you like Tom Cruise in "The Firm" during your associate years? So hot.. I would love to make any excuse to hire a cute lawyer to defend me. I would be daydreaming in court like Ally in Ally McBeal.

:D Bless your heart, greatness, you've obviously never been seated at the defendant's table. You might be surprised how quickly the cuteness of your lawyer drops off your list of concerns. ;)

Yeah I guess it will not be fun but the very idea that a cute guy defending for my innocence seems so hot to me.

So, MsGuy, tell us about the time(s) that you sat at the defense table...

:D How did I know somebody was going to ask that? :p

More times than I care to remember. Fortunately it was the other guys at the table that went to jail. I wasn't very good at my job. :o

Maybe they were just guilty?

All but 5 to the best of my knowledge and belief. One of those I'm not sure about and another was only technically not guilty (guilty in substance but not as charged). Through sheer luck none of the 5 were convicted. It certainly wasn't any skill on my part that walked them. If I were the only alternative, you might as well settle for cute.

well

I think you are a good lawyer because you seem to care about your clients. I might :)

You would be like Tom Cruise in " A Few Good Men."

Witness: "Are we clear?"

MsGuy: "Crystal" and you will show off your shining teeth with a great smile....

you might as well settle for cute.

OH MY GOSH! I just love my copy of this book! I picked one up for 40% off at the DFW airport before catching a flight and within two days I have finished close to half the book and I just can't put this damn thing down! I think it's even better than his other books which I happily have on my book shelf and have read a handful of times.
