Hey there,

I've never been a huge fan but she was funny & vicious letting loose with the gay jokes.

"All the Gay Nazis leaders came after me because I didn't come out sooner. I'm like I missed the Gay Awards...What did you win? I told them to ask anybody around me, everybody knew. I never wore dresses, high heels or had a pretend BF on my arm. Look at me... everybody knew. What did I have to do to prove it? Go down on Angelina Jolie."

I'll come out of the closet. I'm a Rosie O'Donnell fan and have been for a long time.

She was on the Today show yesterday and Katie Couric asked her if coming out had affected her career at all. She said "Everyone already knew. Reporters were like 'yawn'".

She's always been pretty open about her life. The press has pretty much ignored her. (Perhaps because she HAS been open, and hasn't been flinging around lawsuits. Tommy can you hear me?)

I totally admire her willingness to step up to the adoption issue. Say what you want about Jeb Bush (Florida's governor), but he did the dumbest thing anyone can do by pissing off a dyke with a nationally syndicated talk show, a magazine, and an ISSUE.

You go, Rosie!

True, but I thought her ongoing "crush" on Tom Cruise, flirting with him on her show and at public events (though most took it as being for laughs) wasn't far from that. When I told my mother that Rosie was a lesbian, that is the first thing she threw back at me, that Rosie wouldn't be "in love with" Tom Cruise if she were gay. And there were a lot of clueless people in middle America who no doubt felt the same way.

But that was then, this is now. I congratulate her on FINALLY coming out, and must admit her timing may work out for the better, with her taking an active role in the debate about gay adoptions. Much of America got to see her as a good adoptive mother, and now adds the fact that she is a lesbian to that.

I thought that was a bit much too! And Tommy boy looked embarrased with the whole thing as well.

Now that she's out (Rosie - not Tom) it's a wonder he doesn't sue her just for the hell of it as his lawyers seem to have nothing better to do!

Being gay and having a "crush" on someone of the opposite sex are not entirely incompatible. Throughout the years I've had some crush-like feelings for women, both famous and not, but not once have I truly considered myself anything other than gay. So don't rule out that her "crush" on "my Tommy" was a real thing.

Three cheers for Rosie on almost all count.

It is very hard not to believe that the Cruise "infatuation" was

an attempt to fool the public.

After the book tour end, she should enjoy her private life for awhile.

Rosie has answered every possible question. Chill out and relax. Her

appearance on Larry king was boring, Rosie almost starting answering

his questions before he finished asking.

Hey Guys,

I saw Rosie once in a while when visiting my mom. I always wondered if Rosie was faking the crush on Tommy to underscore a certain irony. Everyone was quite sure she was gay - and she chose a guy we all suspected was gay - to have a crush on!

Just my take on it,

I will admit, one of my guilty pleasures is/was watching Rosie in the afternoons. Smarmy, harmless fluff. And the incredible power this women has garnered over public opinion, in only a few short years, is unbelievable.

Although she gushed about Tom Cruise incessantly, she always made it clear that she didn't want a 'romantic' connection with him, she just wanted him to hang around her house, maybe mow the lawn with his shirt off.

So, in a way, she never tried to 'cover up' her sexuality with her Tom Cruise infatuation.

Hell I wouldn't mind having Courtney Love chained in my front yard like a rabid dog, or Sandrah Berndhart handcuffed to my bathroom sink, for decorative purposes only, of course. But that doesn't mean I want to sleep with either of them.

Her 'timely' coming out, is not an accident. I don't think she would have publicly anounced her sexuality had it not been for the case involving one of her foster children. She was fighting a losing battle, and as I said earlier, this woman can sway public opinion in ways that the best polititions would kill for. (look at what she's done for regular mamography, she waged a war on the NRA, made the company that produces Koosh balls a mint, brought life back to the New York theatre scene.....)

Her desicion to come out now, in my view, was out of necessity. In order to make changes to the same sex adoption laws, people must first be aware of the current state of said laws. In bringing her personal case forward, she, a well respected public figure, was hoping to enlighten the general public, which would in turn aid her own cause.

I think it's up to the individual whether or not to choose to 'come out'. BUT... there are instances where I think it is the 'right' thing to do. IE. you are already loved and respected by your family, friends etc. but they have never met a gay person, and here you are, living among them. Perfect opportunity to change some perceptions.

Yes I realize it doesn't always work out for the best, and quite often you run the risk of losing everyone you care about...why? cuz you sleep with someone of the same sex!! YIKES.

I think in Rosies case, this was the 'right' thing to do. It's nobodies business if she's gay or not, but if she is running the risk of losing her daughter, one of several adopted children she cares for, then it is the right time to come out... change some public opinion of what gays and lesbians are all about, and hopefully change some of the archaic laws that both of our countries (Canada and the US) still hold on to.
