I just finished watching the latest episode of QAF. I know it's not everyone's favorite but I really think this was a good one. As a former film major I have to say they had some very nice camera work. More importantly the story line left me a little teary-eyed at the conclusion. I'm glad I taped it because I want to see it again. That's not what I planned to post. Last week I saw a play called "A Letter From Ethel Kennedy" in preview at the MCC Theater in New York. It isn't a great play but has some good moments. I'd recommend it. In a small roll as a waiter is Randy Harrison who plays Justin on QAF. If you watch the show and live or go to NY, go see the play. It was fun to see him in person even though he isn't the star. The guy is so incredibly cute it's hard to believe. I'm not really into blond twink types (Rick Munroe, are you reading this?) but the guy is just adorable. I think he has the potential to become a really good actor and I think he's smart to take rolls in plays even if they are small. I hope he does well. If acting doesn't pan out he could certainly make a great career for himself as an escort. Not likely to happen, but fun to think about.

"I just finished watching the latest episode of QAF. I know it's not everyone's favorite but I really think this was a good one. As a former film major I have to say they had some very nice camera work."

I won't comment on the worst show now on tv but I will on the above "nice camera work". Whoever this director was had no clue what to do with the camera....he never missed the opportunity for an extreme close-up... to the point of it's being annoying. Close-ups are meant to to emphasize something...not used on end to emphasize nothing. He just shot almost every scene in close-ups. He indiscriminatly used the "giggly camera" (hand held camera meant to imitate home video(something which is very popular and just annoys the hell out of me) on and off, for no apparent reason. You either use it or you don't.

"More importantly the story line left me a little teary-eyed at the conclusion."

WHY??? As usual, they won't follow thru with the Justin & young violin player...they have so much potential with story lines and they just ignore them. Example Ted's potential new boyfriend will never show up again...Justin's one encounter with someone his age went nowhere... Debbie's brother's illness is hardly explored and we know next to nothing about him.

I thoroughly agree with the above paragraph. It's a tribute to Randy Harrison to get the experience in appearing in a small role. He does have great potential and hopefully his stint as "Justin" will not hamper his career opportunities.

I think the actors on the show QAF shouldn't be blamed for the atrociousness of the writing, directing, etc. etc. etc. I cannot conceive of any straight people regularly watching this show and if there are any, imagine what they think of gay people. When you compare "Six Feet Under"'s gay characters to those on QAF it makes you realize how bad QAF is.

So much for my not commenting on the show. ;-)

Ran into him on the street a week or so ago, walking on West 46th Street. He was with a young girl. I've sort of given up on the tv show (too melodramatic for me - I can come here and have my sense of melodrama satisfied - and on my own time), but he was so much cuter than I remember him from the show. I love it when a person first gets some fame, just like Randy they walk the streets watching to see if they're noticed. This cutie is worth noticing.

not at all cute.

i really do find the guy repulsive.

I agree with many of your criticisms of QAF. I will say, however, that I know one straight women who LOVES the show and knows many gay men. She doesn't blur the line between TV and reality. While "Sex in the City" is better written, if one were to take it seriously one would have an exceedingly negative impression of straight people.

So I'm getting this impression you aren't crazy about Justin. Is it a blond thing?...do you feel threatened in some way?...did he beat you up on the playground?...were you up for his part on the show?...This venom is so intense. I'm really intrigued. It's so operatic...and somehow arousing. We must meet.

When I came out to my family my sister became a big fan of QAF. The only problem is she thinks the show is a LOT more realistic than it is. For a while she seemed disappointed I wasn't getting as much sex as the characters on the show. So I have BANNED her from watching the show. I'm sure my request will be as successful as my earlier ones banning her from smoking and fooling around with hunky Latin guys. Now she smokes and is married to a real heartbreaker from Venezuela.

I wonder if this show will make gay oriented television more or less likely to be made and aired?

The show has been such a ratings success for Showtime they've already added "gay night" on ShoTwo. I think the lineup each week is a gay-themed movie, Queer Duck, and QAF, or something like that.

Ratings successes generally aren't lost on the people who produce this stuff. :p

I'd really love to see their demographics, but haven't seen them anywhere. I was floored recently when I sas sitting having a snack at a street fair and overheard two female cops who were on their lunch break. They were discussing whether Brian or Justin is better looking! LOL

Jason Branch told me they got a lot of str8 females in the audience for Ronnie Larsen's plays because of the male nudity. The ladies like skin too!

Whether QAF is a good or bad show is almost beside the point. It has been succesful and what that means is that it opens the door to more gay themed shows and hopefully better ones. I know there is a lot of carping from the gay community that it does not accurately reflect gay life. Well, come on, it's a fantasy like any other soap opera, and I think most people, gay or straight recognize that. Still it does touch on some good and serious issues. True, it doesn't usually follow through on them, but it's a start. As far as the sex, drugs and dance clubs, that's still a big part of NY gay life. The Gay Pride parade coming up tends to be more about guys in G-strings than politics. Is that an accurate portryal of gay life? All I know is that the streets are packed with spectators every year and a lot of them are families with kids. Everyone seems to be having a good time. I think people should lighten up about QAF and enjoy it for the fluff it is. I'll take it over "Friends" any day. And I still think Justin is cute.

You can sure say that again - all that hetro fluff makes me want to vomit!

'And I still think Justin is cute. At least after watching QAF you can go to bed and fantasize which is more than I could ever do over tall, shapeless, skinny Ross!

Speaking of which - did anyone watch Boston Public last night? Looks like Harry (Nicky Katz) has been written off the show due to his being mortally wounded. His choice or the producers? Always thought he was sexy in a kinda dark way.

Since its inception, I have watched QAF as well as SIX FEET UNDER.

Personally, I like both shows, but have found the latter to be oh so much superior.

At times I've been quite bothered by QUEER...but certain segments per week have been worthwhile for my viewing and intellectual pleasure. Just this past week, I could appreciate the interaction of Justin with the "cute" violinist. During that whole segment, I decided that Justin is an ethereal young man who looks virginal in spite of the role he portrays. Two weeks ago he made the cover of NY MAGAZINE; I have yet to read the article. The young man is blooming!!!

When I venture to the Big Apple sometime between now and December 31, I will go and see this show if it's still playing and if Justin is still in it!

That's all for me! Although I don't like under 23's-- Justin is CUTEEEEEEEEEE! How's that?

i simply find him vile. he's too skinny for me. the face does nothing for me. i do not like blonds.

threatened? by what?

lol... you're funny. :-)

There's the adage that goes like this: "Different strokes for different folks!" Chill, DC...

Let Justin blossom! To each his own without being so vehement and disparaging. You could have said the same thing much more tactfully!

I hope you've ended your tirades!

You should be banned from writing on this site! I shall not dignify what you call writing; it is definitely not worth my time or integrity to respond to your inability to comnmunicate!

Well, take comfort in that Devon's 450 pound gainer and Biggest Fan thought you were nice.

"It turned out my biggest fan couldn't make our appointment the other night, so he came over yesterday evening. Once again it was a minor shock just how much more there was of him. He estimates that he's up to 475 pounds now, though the scale he was weighing himself on isn't really supposed to take over 440. He said he's starting to get more "you're really big, aren't ya?" comments, and it turned him on to feel his love handles flopping over the airplane seats while he was flying around on his recent trip to the East Coast (where I'll be heading soon myself).

I asked if he'd seen any of my colleagues while he was traveling. "'Actually, yeah, while I was in DC I saw this really nice skinny little kid. I think his name was Ethan.'"
