What happened to the days when one could pick up a hitchhiker and find out he was interested in action beyond just a ride? Also, where did all those sweet cruising spots disappear to?

Those were fun times that seem to have become extinct at least here in the Southeast.

I was never any good at that. Once I picked up this kid who was working at the gay bar in Ft. Lauderdale. He was a very hot blond, hitchhiking with his shirt off. He got in the car, and I couldn't say the magic words. I actually gave him a ride home.

Another time this hot kid who I knew was putting out got in my car, and again I couldn't say a thing. I took him home too. The spot I picked him up in was a notorious gay hang out.

So, eventually I settled for Santa Monica Boulevard in LA where there was no doubt what was going on.

Lucky, you didn't have to say the magic words. I've always found a "hand on knee" speaks volumes.

Well if you're talking about hitch-hiking hitchhiking, I think most people find it far too dangerous these days. As an example, I'll admit once I did somthing so stupid and hitch-hiked with some fool in Miami...that was when I had first moved on my own. How silly. Anyway, few minutes later he wanted 'more', but I just wanted to go home...then I got held up and lost everything. And he was the one who offered the ride! So no, whenever I see someone hitchhiking, or asking me for a ride I just cant believe they risking it all. And then when you go to the cops, they make you look stupid for doing such a thing even accuse you of "tricking". If a hitchhiker screws you over you get zero sympathy from the authorities. Better safe than sorry.

As for as street work, the internet has become a safer haven from that...but in some places where there's actually people walking the street, like South Beach...they almost blend in with the crowd. The internet has compltley changed how business is done.

Lucky it shows how much of a gentleman you are.

I think the thread is nostalgic. There is NO question (i mean - c'mon we are discussing on a FORUM on the internet) that times have changed. The point is that in the 'olden days' ...cruisin' for sex was stupid, exciting, crazy, thrilling and ... yes... dangerous.

But what a fucking thrill - driving around in a circle at the known 'gay' block for an hour when I was 18 and then pulling over with some random guy and fucking him in the back of his mom's car...ya - and i was driving drunk too!

But I can hire a guy online to do that with now. Lost in Translation?

Hey Josh you hit the mark perfectly. I was thinking of the good old days. I do enjoy the Internet and all it has to offer however it takes a little of the thrill out of it.

And Lucky you're too much the gentlemen

Oh ok, well if its just reminiscence then thats something else. Not to say I havent experienced the same crazy thrills either LOL, there's always the clubs! I have tons on stories about that. But what I said b4 is why I think its disappeared. I dont know anyone my age in their right mind to hitchhike, thats just crazy. Maybe its just my former city instinct. I just cant see the fun of it.

Come on the internet hasn't been around that long for public use. It seems that it really took off only 13 years ago. We're acting like it's been 50 years ago and we are in the old folks home. I've met many of you (client wise) and y'all are far from being in the old folks home talkin about the good ol' days.

The internet has changed a lot for both good and bad. The thrill of picking up someone in a bar is always fun and gets ya pumping...the eye contact..the checking each other out..making the first move and jumping on the chemistry. That still happens (thankfully) but even so a lot guys are home on the net instead of out face to face. There are far mor choices and information to arrange an appointment with somene for some fun. Seems safer and easier than crusing 10th Avenue. However alot of ads on the internet are touched up and professional pictures are used. Yet you do get to check out and find someone that tiggers your horns and gets you boned so you want him. Times they are a changing. There is a place for the net and a place for good old fashion crusing and hookups on or off the clock. Hitch Hiking! The guys are all right and you real young guys please listen up. Hitch Hiking has changed and for the worst. Not safe, Don't get picked up or pick up no matter how cut or how tempted. Jest isn't cool anymore. Rural areas might even be worse than here in the City. Have fun. Get laid. Party. Just play safe so you can do it all again tomorrow night!

Yes, yes, yes! The times are a changin' and have indeed changed! We've seen this happen in the major cities where there was a lot of cruisin' back in the day!

This is no more, to say the least! The notorious streets in San Francisco and LA have virtually dried up as well as in other cities to which I have not traveled much, and the

AIDS epidemic has played a dominant role regarding how one seeks sex.

And as for as hitchhiking goes, well, I've seen hot guys in the past but have been loath to pick them up due to my "shyness!" I've viewed the guys and have kept on my merry way--kicking myself!

I still vividly remember that I was on my way to San Francisco from Monterey one warm beautiful day driving my convertible metallic maroon Bonneville Pontiac with its top down. As a turned onto the old highway (now freeway) to continue my journey, there stood the most gorgeous man with shirt off revealing 6 packs and all who was wanting a ride. I looked intensely at him, but my heart went thump, thump, thump! Again, "little ole me was too inhibited to oblige the guy.

Still today I often think if I'd given him a ride would we have connected. I was in my prime at the time and considered "hot" from others' perspectives, so I and am still wondering and smiling. I do know that the image of him is still indelibly engraved in my memory.

When I was in college, a slightly older friend and I used to go driving around at night in the Pennsylvania Dutch farm country, looking for hitchhikers. We rarely hit pay dirt, but one night we got lucky (not Lucky!) and picked up a handsome, well built blond in his twenties, who said he was on his way home from a construction job. After we made some fumbling attempts to find out if he was available, he said his wife was away, so we could all go to his house in a small town on the Susquehanna. We expected he would be simple rough trade, but instead we had a fabulously sweaty three-way romp in his marriage bed for a couple of hours. The next time my friend went out alone looking for a hitchhiker, the guy he picked up gave him a black eye instead of a good time. I never tried it by myself.

Oh yeah I hear ya...and not to say what you mentioned is wrong, but if I ever had to hitchhike; or better yet...if I ever had a flat tire someplace, I'd rather it be in the rural areas than just outside of downtown!

LOL, wow thats hot!...it'd be nice if the only downside to hitchhiking was just a guy who didnt want to play for whatever reason, but then you got crazies out there on acid and shit, higher than a kite who wouldnt think twice to slash someone's throat and not recall how they ended up with someones wallet the next morning.

Oh, and I do have 1 sorta hitchhiking story; when me and a friend picked up 2 guys in SOBE, decided to drive to my place cause I lived close by and 1 was a hitchhiker and ended up trying to move in with me. What a disaster! Then I ran into him a few months later at Burger King. What happens in Vegas and Miami; stays in.....Vegas and Miami LOL
