Tara is dead. I liked her, she's dead. When Mrs. Calendar died, I was like Oh Welll. When Buffy's Mom Died, the best TV Episode ever, I was surprised, but not bothered. But Tara is dead. Tara is dead. She and Willow just got back together, and she's dead. This season was shit, but we suffered through it, and now they kill Tara. That's our reward? I am very very upset. I know they wanted a way to make Willow evil, but not this way, this was too contrived, and it's such a slap in the face to the fans to kill such a good character. I'm pissed, how about you?

HOLY SHIT. I'm so sorry. Now that I think of it, on top of not giving people in the states time to watch their tapes, tonights episode won't even air abroad for months. Damn. I wish there was an edit function. I was just so upset, and the only friend I have who watches Buffy regularly is in NYC, too late to call him. So I did the first thing we all do when there are no friends around. I went to the computer.

Damn, I am very very sorry. It's still worth watching. There is this AMAZING scene that gives the episode its title. But very very very very sorry. I'd delete this thread if I could.

I've seen a few episodes of this season.the BF is a HUGE fan of both Buffy and Angel but when the rumors started floating about the death of a major character u knew Tara would be the chosen one.

She was never that popular with the fans and as Joss Whedon has stated that the "core four"characters would never be killed off (i.e Buffy,Giles,Xander and Willow)and that Spike is probably the best character in the show at the moment it was pretty obvious.

I agree that this season hasn't seemed as good as previous ,to me this year seemed to be the "lets depress the hell out of everyone"and the fact that the so called villains of the season the Troika sucked big time.

Re the episode in which Joyce Summers died i dont get why everyone LOVES it,it did nothing for me and i can think of at least 3 episodes off the top of my head Hush,Pangs and Band Candy which IMHO were far better.

It will be interesting next year probably the shows last season to see what will happen although my BF is convinced that Willow will play a major role either good or bad.

I hadn't heard those rumors, so I was totally shocked. Also, the Spike/Rape thing was pretty dark. So I thought that was the BIG deal. I was wrong.

>Re the episode in which Joyce Summers died i dont get why

>everyone LOVES it,

It was amazingly real. 7 years ago I found a dead woman whom I then tried, unsucessfully, to recucitate. I knew her. Long story. Anyway, the writers of "The Body" captured, exactly, the sense of what it's like to try to administer CPR to someone you know, and to fail. And the senselessness of waiting around the body for the EMTs, and then the coroner, to come. It was PERFECT. Even if you've never had the misfortune of experiencing such a thing, it was such an evocative episode, you should have got it. You missed it, not them.

Hush was brilliant. Pang was pretty darn good (just saw it again tonight). But Band Candy, what are you on crack?

I'm hoping that what will happen next year is that they'll have hired new and improved writers.

Unfortunately i've had to break into many apartments and found people dead in various states of decay, never anyone close maybe thats why it didnt affect me,although watching it again may bring on a different response,i recently rewatched the finale of Season 5(ie when Buffy "dies")and 1st time round it did nothing 2nd time i blubbed like a baby-go figure !.

I cant believe you didnt like Band Candy i thought it was HYSTERICAL possibly my favorite episode ever,2 others that also spring to mind are "Earshot" and "Superstar"co-incidentally all three written by the same writer according to my BF/Buffy trivia nerd. And no i wasnt on crack-or mind altering candy !

He has also said that nexy year WILL be the last season apparently Nicholas Brendon confirmed that the show is due to finish due to Joss Whedons increasingly busy schedule and that the casts contracts expire and that Sarah Michelle Gellar wont resign because i think she wants a movie career. So next year i think they should bring back some of the characters that have left (Giles,Faith and Oz to name but 3)God im starting to sound like a fanboy-HELP ME :7

Superstar was very creative. I loved how the opening credits included the superstar in action. That was clever.

RE: Buffy, Shitty season, Angel better?

I have to agree. This season has been one of the worst. I keep watching hoping it will get better but not yet( with exception of a few episodes). I heard the rumors that Tara was going to get killed but it seemed rather "out of the blue."

(Also why did they add her to the opening credits if she was going to get killed?)

The rape thing also seemed, out of place. Even the way the shooting occured was wierd. He just comes over with a gun and shoots her.

In real life something like that could happen but usually on tv the obvious is never used. It just seemed to simplistic. After all any of the villians could have simply done the same but then it wouldn't be drama.

On the other hand. I haven't watched Angel in a long time but it seems to be getting more interesting from what I hear. May give it a chance.

>Tara is dead. I liked her, she's dead.<

I saw her get shot, but I don't know if she's dead. Even if she is dead, they're on the Hellmouth. She'll probably be resurrected (hopefully she'll come back with a hunger for the brains of a slayer, or better yet, as Spike's new girlfriend). In the meantime, it's a great excuse for everyone to get all mournful and full of vengeance. It ain't no thang, just tv drama.

>When Mrs. Calendar died, I was like Oh Well.<

A great episode. The shot of Angel peeping through the window getting off on the overwhelming grief of others as they heard the news of Ms. Calender's death was well done and very disturbing. It was all about the passion if I recall.

>I know they wanted a way to make Willow evil, but not this way, this was too contrived,<

I don't know. I never saw it coming.

>and it's such a slap in the face to the fans to kill such a good character. I'm pissed, how about you?<

Maybe they're making room for the return of Oz, a character with far more depth than Tara, even if he isn't a dyke.

You're right about the season being on the lame side, but I'm not pissed about any of it. It's still been fun, although a bit heavy on the sex and very light on the evil, and last night's episode had one of my favorites lines ever, spoken by Warren - "We need someone to guinea-pig the meat-suit". That's good stuff.

Yeah Tara's dead alright. Amber Besson has been in the media saying this was her last season. And how much longet does Jos Whedon have contracts for Sarah Michelle and the rest of the gang anyway? I would guess when their contracts are up thats it for the show. I can't imagine the show makes the kind of money to give the cast a "Friends" type of a salary.

Isn't there a new episode tonight?

As i hinted in Post 5 and has been over the net and fanboy sites the next season 2002-2003 is the last for BTVS,when UPN picked up the show it was a 2 year deal which co-incides with the ending of cast contracts and Joss Whedon getting a deal to write Firefly for Fox as well as overseeing Angel (which interestingly moves into the old X-Files time slot 9pm Sunday from next season )on the WB as well as the Buffy animated show and film gigs etc etc.

Sarah Michelle Gellar i think will go into movies although Alyson Hannigan is a FAR better actress interesting to see what Scooby Doo does this summer as SMG has said in interviews that she will NOT do a Buffy big screen movie-we'll see.......

Damn I hate that Tara is dead. But evil Willow is cool. So now we know what a skinned man looks like.

Willow says "one down.." before popping off. So who's next?

It hasn't aired on this coast yet, but I knew Warren would die, so no spoilage.

"One Down..." leads up to the title of the next episode-one of two both airing the same night next week for the last time this season-which is titled "Two To Go". I presume that means she's going after the other two members of the Triumverant. That makes little sense as they were in jail when Warren killed Tara.

I'm also disappointed that Tara is dead. I found her much more interesting, as an actress, than Oz as an actor.

Predictable Season

The Love Of My Life made me sit through the first two years of Buffy and I continued to watch while I was traversing the nine circles of hell -- otherwise known as living in the Deep South. The show lost me sometime during the Mayor's ascension and the whole cloak and dagger thing of the Initiative, but I did like aspects of the Glory/Ben story. I think the duality of characters, particularly gender duality, was interesting, as was Glory's love of fashion, need to suck minds and Ben's desire for Buffy. However, the show has become greatly predictable. I have watched it sporadically this year and when I do tune in, find that I have not missed much in spite only viewing a small number of episodes. I think Angel has had far more interesting plots and themes this year and almost always see it. I did find Willow's new look sexy, and while Buffy's speech about humanity and rules of the human world was admirable, the outcome of this episode as well as the entire season finale is also pretty predictable.
