Kerala has been one of the most sought after tourist destinations in India in recent times. The 'God’s Own Country‘ campaign is aimed at highlighting the culture, traditions and the calm, green, peaceful sceneries that Kerala has to offer. Kumarakom for its lakes, Munnar for its tea, flaura and fauna, green hills and its pleasant climate, Kovalam for its picture perfect sandy beaches and ayurvedic treatment centres and Kochi for its historical value are a few of the reasons why Kerala has achieved what it has. Kerala Resorts and hotels have also been a major contributing factor to these advancements in the tourism industry as far as Kerala is concerned since most tourists prefer high class accommodation that these hotels and resorts unfailingly provides. Resorts and hotels in Kerala in theme, are often built around their area scenarios. For example, in Munnar, which is a hill station, one can choose from a normal hotel room, to a luxury tent house, to a tree house. Boat rides and tours are also arranged by the hotels/resorts authorities in case the customer asks for it. Elephant rides, water sports, adventure sports, picnics, and traditional lunch/dinner are other cultural facilities that are offered by the hotels and resorts either in a package or alone in some cases.

Due to these facilities, tourists can be guaranteed immense satisfaction during their visit to Kerala. A rising standard of living of the locals ,a very healthy relationship between the hotel industry and the tourism industry and the aggressive advertiseing campaigns led by the Indian government towards the tourism industry has led to this sparkling result. Kerala’s tourism is now seeing more and more tourists that are not only coming to Kerala for its scenery. Kerala is slowly becoming a large commercial hub with Kochi as its base, and many MNC’s and other companies are making its way down to Kerala to get a piece of that action. Business class hotels have been rising in number to accommodate these tourists resulting in a rise in the number of conferences and group packages being sold in these hotels. Another wing of tourism that is making its presence known is 'Medical toursim‘. Kerala has been the cetre of attention all around the world in this field, due to their alternative medical treatments- Ayurveda. Ayurveda has been known to rejuvenate the mind and body and is now attracting a lot of tourists from around the world seeking its ancient medical qualities. Also, tourists are slowly coming to understand about the affordable, high class health and sanitation services that Kerala has to offer and are now drawn to Kerala for treatments that may prove to be more expensive in their own country. Kerala tourism has been flourishin in the recent years due to these factors and is being predicted to grow more.
