>...Clinton wants $50 million a year...

Taxpayers are already paying his living expenses and providing top-rate security. I think Clinton should appear for free and donate any money to charity.

There are some things he accomplished in office which have been a personal benefit for me. For that I'll be eternally grateful to him. But, I still wouldn't watch him and would only believe half of what he said.

Oprah

Has made the money she makes on the basis of how her deal is structured. Phil Donahue made far less money. In addition to which, Oprah will soon be leaving, thus the former President would her replacement, not an additional Oprah.

However, if this rumor is true, I think the more interesting thing is how such a presentation would be structured. After all, Pat Buchanan, Jim Carville and any number of other political persons have moved from politics to government to the media and back again.

If you can not be with the one you love, turn off the television set as well.

I disagree - every ex Pres is entitled to such security. It is not a luxury, but a necessity. Not only for the ex but also for the country. Without it the ex could be kidnapped and forced to divulge highly sensitive information.

And I'm sure it's not considered to be a perk by the ex. Why would anyone enjoy the lack of privacy and restriction of free movement. I'd consider it to be a large pain in the butt (unless I got to "hand select" my security detail. :-)

I would watch him and I suspect millions of people world wide would as well. He is no dummy and what he has to say could be very interesting. Also, I'm sure he would only bring on top-notch guests. I don't think you would find too many disfunctional families on his show.

And if he can earn $50 mil a year - why not - isn't that the American way? Free enterprise prevails! He probably needs the dough just to pay off his old legal bills.

I doubt Oprah is worried, but Tim Russert might be. Possibly even Bill Maher.

I'll watch the show if it's a good show, and that's pretty much the bottom line.

I would LOVE to see him host a sort of point-counterpoint show facing off the likes of Rosie O'Donnell against Jeb Bush on the gay adoption issue. There are many issues that beg an objective vetting of both sides, and he has nothing to lose.

If it ends up being a cross between "HeeHaw" and "Good Morning America", no thanks.

Time will tell. The deal isn't made yet. This could just be a trial balloon the network is sending out see whether or not they should make the deal.

......and here I thought you and I couldn't agree on anything, TB, but well said. It's easy to take pot shots at Clinton, but he was the first President in 25+ years that really gave a damn about the people he was elected to serve, US included.

Now , if he only could have kept "lil willie" in control (and I don't fault him for that, btw), he wouldn't have to wait 50 years for people to realize he was a very fine President. Just think what could have been done if he had had a cooperative congress and one that wasn't always trying to backstab him--look what he accomplished in spite of that. Just my opinion, :+

The comments about the money to Protect Clinton is a cheap shot; all

ex-presdients and their widows (Lady Bird Johnson) get the same protection. Clinton is hardly wealthy, compared to other presidents

and other politicians.

I like Clinton very much. However, what happened to his embrace of the model of the Jimmy Carter ex-presidency? Clinton can really be a major disappoint time and time again. Who needs another Rosie?

Actually Clinton earns an absolute fortune now doing speeches and lectures, also he has a deal worth $12 million for his memoirs the largest advance ever given to an ex-President,he's now supposed to earn some $15 million p.a if that aint wealthy i dunno what is,maybe when he left office he didnt have a lot of cash but i think times have changed.

What also got me thinking if this talk show deal actually happens is what type of show would it be,a Larry King type of show with Clinton interviewing the leaders and other powerful folks of the world,i dont think a Letterman or Oprah type of show would work when the person interviewing is more well known than the guests tho he could probably take the first 3 monhs just interviewing all the women he was shagging when he was the Prez.

Bill Clinton is a pig and should be in jail. And in the cell next to him should be that "thing" he's married to.
