I've never been to Palm Springs but I see lots of ads for it and lots of porno is shot there. What does one do there? It seems like all you can do is lie by a pool.

Palm Springs is actually a *major* destination for golfers.

Plus, there are resorts for just relaxing at the pool. And (so I'm told) 48% of the population is gay so there are one or two clubs for that kind of action. (Tounge firmly in cheek.)

But, yeah, it's mostly a vacation town.

It is 80 degrees right now in Palm Springs. I am wearing the same clothes that Rod Hagan would be wearing only I am not expecting a client. I also do not have the air conditioner on, and it is suprisingly comfortable, but nearly every single gay resort has good cooling units.

Today has been a lazy, albeit productive day on the computer. I got my oil changed about thirty minutes ago. Found a hole in the wall where they automatically assumed I spoke Spanish but finally understood I just wanted lunch and I got a nice sea food soup, with lobster, clam, shrimp, three kinds of fish and some other stuff I could not simply identify for $7.95.

Someone is trying to convince me to drive to Palm Desert to hang out by their pool and have sex with them outdoors. But even Palm Springs has rush hour traffic and it is nearly 4:30 p.m. While this is a "paying gig" as the Twink Hos are wont to say, I hate driving. Thus, my cock stays in my gym shorts until I get to the gym itself. Besides I need to work out and the Future New Husband expects me in his bed at 8:00 p.m. So today has been about enjoying posting on line, catching up with the Message Center, teasing clients and making appointments for the rest of the week.

Yesterday, Monday, I spent two hours outside the pool at my client's condo. There were only three other people there, the average age was about 72. They were playing card in the shade but like almost everyone in the complex, they all say hello to me, waive profusely, and ask me if I am not too hot. The day before, a very nice lady asked if I would like a cold glass of "sun tea." Her unit faces the pool and she said she could see the sweat come down my face. I thanked her and said I only needed to dive into the water. That morning, I went over to the Vista Grande to get my digital camera from my friend's room and discovered that Nino Bacci had left his bathing suit there. Should we put it up for bid on EBAY? Later that evening, I went with my client to Hunters, he drank beer, introduced me to some friends of his, including a judge, and then I went to work out. I was in bed and asleep by 10:00 p.m. as I was driving this client to the airport the next morning.

I stopped by AAA on my way to Arena Road and got a free book on travel to Las Vegas and asked about my auto registration. I also went to the grocery store but could not find my favorite brand of soy milk.

The day before, I spent at Warehouse trying to buy tickets to a concert in Los Angeles next month and then I went over to a Warm Sands area resort to engage in sex with about five other people who were complete strangers until I got there and my friend in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, I was the only person there who identified as a top and I had to fuck all those boys. We did this half the time with the window shades drawn. All that work and all I got for it was a sunburn. However, as I worked up such a sweat, I decided I did not have to hit the gym that day. I showered and merely went over to the future new husband's condo where we had Thai Chicken Salad take out and watched the "E True Hollywood Story on Robert Blake." His choice, not mine.

Today is only the second time I have been in my car, otherwise I am riding my bike all over the place. You see people as young as 12 and as old as 70 riding and it is perfectly safe and the roads are very very flat. Make sure you have water, however. Tomorrow, I am spending the morning with the future new husband and then I get to work once more on my tan, hit the pools, and see several clients.

The temperature is still expected to be in the low 80s.

I'm guessing that Palm Springs is much like Scottsdale, Arizona, where I live. In the summer, it gets very hot. Many people choose to spend the summer months indoors, where there is air conditioning. Many people choose to venture outdoors. In doing so, they seem to leave much of their clothing indoors. There is a lot to look at here. Quite a number of very attractive people make their home in the desert.

Maybe the right question to ask is "Who is there to do in the desert?"

Having checked several phone books, I couldn't find very many (well, any) listings for a last name of "Foom". So, I'm not sure where you live. Perhaps you live in an area of the country where "winter" is observed. We in the southwest believe "winter" to be a fictional season. Possibly invented to scare small children, like the boogeyman. Occasionally, we have days as chilly as oh, 65 or 70 degrees. Thermometers don't go lower than that, do they? If you live somewhere that this "winter" thing isn't fictional, perhaps a visit to the desert southwest in January or February will introduce you to the regions charms in an appropriate manner.

Having been to both Palm Springs and Scottsdale, I would say they are only similar in certain aspects, such as the weather and the presence of many resorts. Scottsdale is in the middle of a large metropolitan area, while Palm Springs is at least an hour's drive from even the easternmost outreaches of Los Angeles sprawl. No one commutes from Palm Springs into L.A. (Well no one who doesn't mind a 2+ hour commute each way in NON-rush hour traffic!)

Palm Springs (and its surrounding cities-- Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, etc.) has a LOT of retired people, and a lot of them are only there for the winter. I think Scottsdale is more of a year-round city since it's in the Phoenix suburbs. I think there are probably a LOT more gay people (retired and otherwise) in Palm Springs than in Scottsdale, especially in proportion to their sizes. There are numerous gay resorts in the Palm Springs area. I don't recall Scottsdale being especially gay-friendly.

By the way, FFF, I'm not sure if you'd be welcome there-- I seem to recall a sign at the entrance to the city that said, "Welcome to Palm Springs - Use of First Person Mandatory Within City Limits."

I have it on good advice that people lay about the pool, tanning all day long. At night they go to cheeze bars and restaurants, then take some recreational drugs and look for sex about the resort grounds.

Seems some folks may go golfing there... hetero types, I'd imagine.

The percentage Deej quoted for the gay population sounds right, with the balance being older Jewish folks. A friend told me that you are either gay or Jewish in PS.

How do they calculate the number that are both gay AND Jewish?
