Forget American Idol. If you want to know where the boys are, try Andrew Lloyd Weber's British tv show, Any Dream Will Do. Airing on Sunday nights on BBC America, it presents 12 very cute boys singing for the role of Joseph in the show Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Raincoat, playing in London's West End for a seemingly endless run.

Last week we watched as 50 boys tried to become part of the final 12 by going through the grueling Joseph school. This week we see the 12 singing a la Idol, with judges critiquing, but the catch here is that the live (British) audience gets to vote in real time with their remote controls. So we know the results at the end of the show, where the bottom two have a sing off. Well, tonight the cute Kris was in the bottom 12, and he did lose the final vote of the Lord, but his farewell song has him singing with the other boys where they remove his raincoat to show Kris looking hot in a tanktop as he leaves the show singing. Graham Norton has the Ryan Seacrest role. (The actual show took place in 2006, so one can look up the winner if you can't sit through the shows.)

I saw the show in London a couple of years ago, only because I wanted to see Stephen Gately, formerly a heartthhrob of the boy band Boyzone. He came out of the closet, the band broke up, and he landed the Joseph role. I thought the show was dreadful, and my lust for Stephen diminished on the big stage. My favorite in the current tv show will be a better Joseph than the one I saw.

Next week dancing is paramount. That should be fun as I love to watch cute guys dance well.

At some point this weekend I gave up on US TV (including Here, Logo, TMC HGTV and even Book TV) and happened on BBC-America amidst this Joesph try-out marathon. It was addictive and I'm allergic to Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.

I'm no musical theater expert, but isn't it a technicolor "dreamcoat"? Or is this a new adult version about men who hang around in old-fashioned porno theaters wearing raincoats? :p

The next arc is supposed to be a 5-episode one called 'Children of the Earth'. I've been checking the BBCAM web site but thus far, no announcements as to when.

(also waiting for the new season of 'Skins', which shoiuld be soon, I think. Will be interesting to see what the new cast is like.)

Repeat?

This is the show from '07 right?

My partner watches it. He was talking to me about the winner and his life path afterwards.

It was very interesting and a controversial outcome.

Yes, the show is 2 years old, so we can easily find the results, which I have. Still, it is a great variety show.
