One of the better things to happen with the new message center is that some of the former posters have returned. Tampa Yankee has joined ncm 2169 and Beware of Nick in posting this week for the first time in quite a while. Who knows who else might comeback. For a while I thought some just left when the MC closed, and maybe others had not figured out the new software. There were days when one could read the new posts in a matter of minutes. For someone like me who loves to banter on the MC, that's like a golfer showing up to find his course is now only 3 holes long.

In the case of ncm and BofN, they had been suspended from posting. I don't know their sins, but super moderator Cooper led the way when he posted this:

"I think the offer of "forgiveness" is something we all need and should be willing to give regardless of whether one is an escort or not."

Cooper even showed the grace and class to welcome Beware of Nick back to the fold. ncm hadn't been gone that long, so his welcome might still be in the mail. (Or perhaps "in pectore.")

Nonetheless, it's good to have these prolific posters back. We hope that everyone will use the MC to engage in civil discussions, but at the same time, it's the banter and probing that make for some good threads.

Those who move on....

Lucky, As nice as it is to welcome a member back, it's also sad to see one leave. It was tough reading this departing message.

I really don't care if the webmaster closes the message board. It's useless - many who respond insist they have a psychic ability to "read between the lines" and they absolutely know what you meant but didn't say.

This is a fucking waste of time. No matter what you post someone takes offense, determines what you meant even if you didn't and adds words into your sentences and reads way too much into a post.

I don't need this shit. No more posting here for me. I've had it with the people that think they have a psychiatric degree and can determine my thoughts when they don't even know me.

Final post here - never again.

I was sorry to see that response from Vabballfan. I am not really surprised because he was a "just the facts" guy, who gave his opinions about escorts whom he hired, and seldom stayed around for further discussion.

We didn't know each other, but, at least in the early part of this decade, tended to hire the same escorts. Vabballfan almost always hired the guys before I did. My one victory was hiring Kristian for an overnight in April, 2002 on his first trip to Philadelphia. In time, Kristian become one of Vabballofan's favorite escorts.

I hope he changes his mind and returns.

Lucky can speak for himself (and has done so, 9,589 times so far) but I don't see where he said Tampa Yankee was banned, just that he returned to posting. Looked to me like he was just remarking or perhaps welcoming back some poster who had not posted in quite a while for whatever reason(s).

Class Not Dismissed

KMEM- I don't understand your post. Was there some misunderstanding of what I had said? It seems clear to me that I separated ncm and BofN from Tampa Yankee. The latter came to post something in defense of Daddy and to congratulate Daddy on the new website. That was very classy too.

KMEM's post would make prefect sense if the post made by deej was still in the thread, but for some reason that post has been deleted.

Thank you, ML and Scorpio. Yes, Lucky, Deej mentioned that Tampa Yankee had never been banned and, as you can see, I made mention of the fact that you never made that claim.

Best regards,

Lucky, I appreciate your mentioning me and welcoming me back, as I do the warm welcome from Cooper. As you noted, it has been a LONG time and I am truly glad to be back. I will be following the advice that RuPaul gives when she has 2 queens sing against each other on Drag Race.

Precious, I tell you. Simply precious.

“Tighten those tuck-in pants,” RuPaul drawls. “It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

Ain't it the truth, girls?

Can you fucking believe I saw it all? Yes, as I was doing a little research on a well-known escort, I slipped into Lucky's thread and I saw Admin take a swipe at a Mod and then saw the Mod edit the Admin's post. Such fascinating dysfunction. Given my years of experience with many boards, I have never seen that happen before. Leave it to queens.

And then POOF! All the rude, nasty, childish, hypocritically ironic, unprofessional exchanges were deleted. Congratulations, Daddy! Maybe the board is, in fact, improving.

Thank you, Lucky, for your encouragement. I respect the fact that you see the value of gay male exchange, and I'm not just talking bodily fluids. And thank you to all those who write me privately. It's enjoyable to know some people understand my perceptions.

If anyone missed the exchange between Cooper and deej, it was no big deal. Both Cooper and dej made excellent points. Yes, it did turn into an argument, but the words used above are an unfair and exaggerated characterization of what happened.

Hypocrisy:

acting in a manner contradictory to one's professed beliefs and feelings, or conversely, expressing false beliefs and opinions in order to conceal one's real feelings or motives.

Home Sweet Home

There have been many times in my life when an idea presented to me caused me to go "yuck!" Then, after a while I embraced the idea. That's not hypocrisy, it's learning. Those who never change their minds are the ones who lose out. So let's keep this thread on forgiveness, second chances, and welcoming home those who have left. We might like the results.

Always nice to be smarter today than we were yesterday.

Lucky, don't forget to pat yourself on the back for keeping the home fires burning while the prodigals were away. Good to have someone to come home to.

And, RockHard, congrats on post number 1000!

Here's to the dawn of a new day!

And the beat goes on...

finfanfoom...he was a talented, hilarious poster ...and not as bitchy as some of the rest off us

FinFangFoom is talented, often hilarious, but, honey, she redefined BITCHY. Nobody threw more temper tantrums and blew more breakwind exits than her. I would welcome a throwdown slapfest with that bitch anytime.

That's not hypocrisy, it's learning. Those who never change their minds are the ones who lose out.

I would argue, those who have closed minds are the biggest losers.

I honestly don't mind a certain level of hypocrisy. We're human and we have the right to change our minds. It's the people who are in denial—those who can't see it or admit it, when it's slapping them in the face—that are the most annoying.

If anyone missed the exchange...it was no big deal.

I agree. Like most things on this board, it was no big deal.

However, to someone who wishes better for this board, to someone who cares about the quality and character of admin, to someone who appreciates and respects the owner's TOS, to someone who cares about gentlemanly behavior, the exchange and abrupt deletion was interesting. And some might argue hopeful.

Through my years of internet forum participation and observations, I have seen that the most popular boards employ very popular Mods. A popular Mod is (more often than not):

1. Kind

2. Considerate

3. Non-confrontational

4. Understanding

5. Fair

6. Always helpful

7. Respectful of the board owner, the owner's TOS, fellow admin, and, most importantly, board members.

It seems a "kill 'em with kindness" attitude attracts a large and loyal following.

Boards that employ unpopular, nocuous Mods— the kind of on-line personalities that get trashed on the internet, cause members to exit, don't easily garner user-respect, the kind of person who shows little respect for his fellow members—typically, they have low memberships, a ton of bickering, uncontrollable negativity, and too many trolls.

Vbulletin isn't my favorite software and I may not love the colors but Daddy is at least moving in the right direction, if he is responsible for pulling the offensive admin posts. One can only hope he'll rethink his multiple username policy.

If admin can't respect each other on their board, who can they respect?

RockHard, congrats on post number 1000!

Thank you. I had not noticed. And thanks to those who wrote with private congratulations. I wasn't sure it was true because I read accurate numbers did not transfer with the new software. I'm still not sure it's true. But, what the hell, any reason to celebrate, right?

I hope everyone is surviving our financial meltdown.

Best wishes,

RH
