There were no responses to the first appeal for this information. Does anyone know if this is possible.

I didn't use that feature on the old board and I'm not likely to use it on this one if it does exist, but I think I read something (in the FAQ) that sounded similar.

You're unlikely to find a 1:1 feature match, and they likely call it something different, but there's probably something workable out there. Your task, intrepid explorer, is to hunt it down. :)

I have to type in my name and password every time, even though I checked 'Remember Me?'

Is anyone using autofill successfully? Or do folks just stay logged on?

Same here. I use Safari 3.2.1 and I have to re-type my username and password each time I visit.

Is it a problem related to Safari only or folks using Firefox get the same thing??

Hey Chief!

Well... give me a few weeks to study the cvhanges and if you have any questions I'd be happy to give you some private tutoring lessons. Then you can have them grade you on my curve... it's that up-curvey Rhino Cock... (For those who have seen it... and I won;t mention names here~). I get good grades though. All triple XXX's...

I had to rebuild and untangle my desk top with my 6,000 plus photo images on it begining January of 2008. I finally have that all worked out now as of Feb. 2009. Okay~ So one year it took me~ Trust me... when The Geek Squad and people who built the thing can't figure it out and I STILL got those sacred files off it this year, I gotta be doing something right~

Things saeem easier to navigate here now since the upgrade. I think it's just a matter of getting used to and getting comfortable with it all... You know... like a big C@<k... just go slow and get the feel of it first. Once you relax... the rest is heaven!

Hope Daddy will be grading on a curve cause I will need the leeway. Even then I am not sure I can manage a passing grade.

Firefox gets slightly different issues. :(

"Remember me" should set a cookie, and be completely at the mercy of how your browser (and your operating system) handles cookies. To be honest, cookies are a security risk so there are a whole lot of products that will just make them FAIL.

Firefox's "identity manager" does seem to remember how to log me in once I've typed my name. I'm more annoyed by the fact that the board doesn't remember my thread viewing preference (hybrid mode). I'm constantly having to re-select it.

Maybe that's the problem. When I log out, I get a vMessage from the site that says 'All cookies cleared!' That happens even when I have the 'Remember Me?' box checked. Is there a way to prevent the cookies from being cleared by the site?

On the old site, my name and password were always remembered. I was using the same operating system and the same browser, so nothing has changed there.

The other thing that makes me think it's a site issue is that my bank's website makes me log in each time. As you say, I figure that's for security reasons.

Maybe Daddy has decided to beef up security for the Message Center and no longer allows just any old cookie to get inside. But then you'd think the 'Remember Me?' box would be disabled too. Nothing worse than thinking someone's going to leave the light on for you, only to find a darkened doorway and a nervous Doberman Pinscher standing guard.

Good catch!

and maybe we're still figuring out how the new software works. ;)

It's fun, isn't it? One of the things I really like about the new software is that it doesn't repeat the original post on the top of every new page. It used to take a long time to move between pages, when the first post had a lot of images. Much faster now!

And navigation seems easier with the new layout. I'm sure there are many hidden jewels yet to be found.

Many thanks to you gurus for getting the new site up and running so well! http://media.bigoo.ws/content/gif/smiles/smiles_26.gif

Cookie Clearing...

While most “cookies” are probably harmless and are often a convenience that makes roaming the internet and any given website a bit easier, the thought of “tracking cookies” can be a bit of a concern and especially with a site such as this. Many of us like to keep our computers “G rated”… well in practice I guess “R rated” is probably more like it… so seeing that “all cookies are cleared” will probably be considered a “Plus” by quite a few users. I for one was pleased to see it.

As far as having to sign in each and every time...I always did so under the old system… so I don’t find that a bother at all. Plus, for some reason signing in seems to be much simpler with the new format. Still, I can appreciate why many others are annoyed by having to go that extra mile...

I really am enjoying exploring the inner workings of the new system. It seems that I am discovering a new feature each time I visit…

Whipped, when you're editing your signature, you need to click on "Insert Signature Picture" next to your picture.

Hey Rick, (: p, : p, : p), (sorry there goes that asset mesmerization thing again). I was hoping you could answer this for me. I was able to get my signature pic to stay appear on my profile page but it does not migrate when I leave a message on the board. Do I have to do something else to activate it at all times? Thanks in advance.

P.S. What happened to the '?' icon here?

Images in your Signature

To use images in your signature; Go to the "User CP" (User Control Panel) and then "Edit Signature" (In User Settings & Options).

  1. Select a picture; the maximum size of your custom image should be 500 pixels by 100 pixels or 9.8 KB (whichever is smaller). This image MUST be 2257 compliant (i.e. No Dicks, No Assholes).

  2. If your successful a new block "Your Current Signature Picture" should appear. Click "Insert Signature Picture" in that block once.

  3. You should see "[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]" in "Edit Signature" block.

  4. Click "Preview Signature" and you should see your signature in the "Preview" block.

  5. Click "Save Signature" and ignore the "There're no subscribed thread..." message if one appears.

  6. Go to a thread and Post a reply. Be sure that "Show your signature" is set in "Miscellaneous Options".

follow up

I think this has been asked before in various ways, but I haven't seen an answer: You used to be able to sort the new posts by forum and then mark each forum as read as you went through them. Just the posts in that forum, not all new posts. That was a big help if you'd been away for a few days and had scores of topics to catch up on. Is there a way to do the same thing in this new version?

I haven't found a way to sort the "New Posts" by forum, but if I visit each forum in turn,

under the "Forum Tools" pull down menu, you can mark the postings in that specific forum as read.

I tried doing that just now, though, and it doesn't seem to have affected the what "New Posts" brings up. might have to logout out to do that .. hmmmm ...

When I go to a specific forum and try to mark just those posts as read, the system seems to mark *all* new posts across *all* forums as read. :(

Master/Lord/Duke - just not a noob!

Hey all,

How do I get promoted from Apprentice (newbie). I was gonna ask, who do you have to fuck around here to get a promotion, but figured that is redundant on this site!

Thanks!

Just a reminder

I've heard from a couple of members asking "why was their thread deleted". I checked and found it was still there.

What happens is, at the bottom of the page there's a selection called "Display Options". One of those options is called "From". It sets the time period for how far back the threads go. You can set it for 1 day or from the "beginning". Once you've selected your viewing period, click on "Show Threads".

Hopefully, that will restore any "missing" threads.

If you're having any problems with some feature on the m/c, please don't hesitate to ask.
