Have not been viewing message board much last few weeks so do not know if anyone has posted above website. If not please log on and send letter to Gov. Jeb Bush in Florida protesting the removal of 10 year old Burt from his gay family. So far the governor as received close to 100,000 emails. I do not know how to post website in message so that reader can click on and go direct to site. If someone would do this in a follow up response I would appreciate it. Thanks very much.

Thanks for the heads up on this cause. I will follow up with a letter expressing myself in my own words. As a Florida voter I have a few people who need to hear about this.

They're using this case to challenge the law in Florida that makes adoption by gays illegal. It was this case that finally brought Rosie O'Donnell out of the closet so she could help in the fight.

There was a fabulous 2-hour special about this on ABC last night.

thanks deej,i was working last night so didnt see the show but it seems to me the whole thing sucks ,there are 5 or 6 kids(cant remember exactly)who have a stable, loving enviroment where they are looked after and because the family unit isnt deemed"right"they try and break it up, perhaps they would be better if the kids were all in foster care or in a home or being brought up by a single parent on welfare and they were left to roam the streets getting into god knows what but because god forbid two GAY men want to have a family all hell breaks loose,as somebody who is at the sharp end of life seeing homelessness and drug problems and kids aged in their early teens getting into trouble with weapons and drugs it makes me SO angry that people cannot see past petty prejudices ,life in the 21st century aint it grand.......

One of the strongest points Rosie O. made on that special was that she's speaking up because "The State of Florida says gay parents are bad. They're telling ME that I am a bad parent, and that's hogwash!"

O'Donnell, by the way, has one foster child at present (in addition to the three she's adopted) and wants to adopt the kid. She'll be living in Florida when her TV show ends (which is coming up soon). She agreed to the "coming out" interview with Dianne Sawyer on the condition that they cover the gay adoption issue, so they turned it into a 2-hour special.

It was extremely well-done. They could only get one official from the State of Florida to speak on camera and he made a complete horse's ass of himself. All the gay parents interviewed (and their kids) came off looking like a million bucks.

Thanks for this important information. I proudly have sent not only the e-mail letter but also a personally worded one to two Florida legislators in my acquantance.

I have forwarded this web site to many (20+) friends around the country and also to the diversity action group of the corporation where I am employed.

I have no grudge against the Bush family but find that they occasionally require education from more enlightened kinder and gentler folk.

Sincerely,

Add to all of this I believe some of those kids in the Florida case were born with HIV and have benefited greatly from the gay parents' loving care (even the "horse's ass" FL legislator had to agree the foster parents did a "commendable" job in that regard).

Reminds me of a case when I lived in Russia in which a Duma (the Russian Parliament) deputy said it would be better for unadopted Russian kids to rot in orphanages (I've seen them - they are unimagineably horrible places) and eat the cockroaches crawling over their bodies than allow prospective foreign parents to adopt them. The deputy said it was in Russia's national interest not to allow their kids to go to foreign homes and become potential enemies of the state at some point.

Both cases demonstrate what rubbish comes from the mouths of legislators all too often. And who suffers? The kids, of course.

Out of curiosity I read this thread this morning. ...had NO IDEA of its serious content. Did see the two hour presentation on tele last week and soundly agree with you. It, the television program, was enlightening, "fabalous", as well as disheartening.

I sincerely thank Rick Munroe for providing us with the information for us on this site to take some type of action, if it is emailing and faxing the perpetrators of hate and Draconianism.
