Whether or not Denise has a brother who owns the club mentioned in this thread is for you to decide. Two reliable members beg to differ with "Paul". Cooper

I have it from a very close friend of Denise and also her attorney (you may have seen him frequently sitting in the booth with her)and a gaeity habitue for 20 plus years that there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that the Gaiety is going to reopen. If you are willing to travel to Queens, there is a gay porn theater which is owned and operated by Denise's brother. It is located on Astoria Boulevard near LaGuardia Airport. It has a large space with straight porn, another with gay porn, and a third with kinky porn. Also, it has private booths open to one, two or more where you can watch porn on small monitors without having to pay an extra fee other than the main entrance feel. It also has a large movie theater that shows regular films. The place is often crowded with a mixed bunch of people, including young, old, transvestites, straight, gay, bi, etc. If you are lucky you may come across some really handsome muscle boys, a la gaiety. There are free and working guys ciculating through the many rooms of the establishment. I believe the entrance fee is $10, and coffee and stale cookies are free.

I called the Gaiety number this am, sister of Denise answered and again stated that they are very close to a deal for a new location,

and felt that within a week she should have an answer...if this wasnt in the works why would they be saying it was ?

212 354 1069, try for yourself......Its the number you get when you call 411 not some secret number....

These rumors are very entertaining!

Denise does not even have a brother.

She is still working on the location and the very stringent NYC occupancy codes.

Much patience needed without any guarantees!

Everyone should be crossing their fingers, toes and whatever else there is to cross!

Thanks

Am I missing something? Like, for instance, WHO CARES?????

A club, run by a str8 woman, catering to gays, sucking their money out of their pockets at every spin of the wheel??? With all the histrionics of giving a shit, about gay men??? Pretending to be something noble and worthy, while in reality, being nothing more than a front for illegal prostitution???

Again, WHO CARES???

Wasn't this whole scenario a play written by Shakespeare 400 years ago? Much Ado About Nothing???? :o

RE: Private Party in NY

You might have heard I hope the Gaiety does re-open somewhere in NY soon :p :P

BUT, this weekend on Friday and Saturday I attended a private "locked door" party with some of the HOTTESTTTT Gaiety dancers and a few unknow locals who were just as talented.

Iam told the next one will be towards the end of May in Manhattan....

Some of this weeks dancers were

MC/DJ Ben V..who did a special show at the end of the night

Sam

Josh/Miguel

Andre

Tony/Vito

Christan

Brad Rock

and others.... All 100% hottt....A great place to sit and talk to your favorite dancers and watch the show.

Its a private party but iam sure if you ask your Hooboy fellow NY area posters you will get info on the next private party....

>Am I missing something? Like, for instance, WHO CARES?????

- huh?… you are in the “STRIP CLUB” forum. The Gaiety was (and hopefully soon will be again) a strip club.

>A club, run by a str8 woman, catering to gays, sucking their money out of their pockets…

- As opposed to other gay clubs/bars/etc which are run by kindly, altruist, philanthropic, homosexuals.

> …being nothing more than a front for illegal prostitution???

- Sort of the purpose of this site too - eh?

I have been a regular patron of the Gaiety for ten years. I care and I am interested in the possibility of a resurrected Gaiety as I am sure many other posters/viewers of this site also would be interested in that information.

People seem to like to bitch about Denise. My only contact with her (other than handing her my admission) is asking her for change or calling her up asking her what the lineup was (obviously before Cooper et al began their informative postings here). While not overly friendly, I never thought of her to be nasty or mean-spirited. Remember she ran a male strip club for decades – many of her employees were chemically-friendly hookers and/or airheads! If she wasn’t drill sergeant, the Gaiety would have closed a long, long time ago.

As far as the extracurricular activities of the dancers, the Gaiety didn't make any money from that; moreover, I doubt that the majority of the audience participated in that either.

What I don’t understand is why some individuals take absolute glee in the closing of the Gaiety. If you didn’t like the Gaiety fine, but obviously many guys did enjoy the Gaiety. I think perhaps some posters might be suffering from Schadenfreude.

>Here We Go Again. Time to Move On!

JT, since you post this message over and over again, why don't you tell us what you've moved on to? Is there another place in NYC that has a Gaiety type show?

Posted

I'm with Fisher! Only been to the Gaiety once in my life and it was OK but nothing special on the evening I attended. Still, I do not understand why some seem to dislike the place and even the idea. I do like to see and watch good looking men with little or no clothes. Apparently others do also. And, the Gaiety is legendary. It may reopen and it may not. If it does then the fans will be happy. So, my point is simple: If you don't like it keep away but, if you do, have fun. Don't rain on another's parade.:p

RE: Private Party in NY

Looks like the "Locked Door Private Party" will if it is to continue.. be the only "Gaiety Game" in Town for awhile at least. I now am sorry I didn't attend!.. The "G" guys need the biz(and attention) and the Gay guys need the Eye Candy (and Pvts).. LOL :+

"How do I get an invite to the next party?"

Camshaft and others who are interested: since we meet at a private residence, send me an inbox message. About 20+ Hoovillians showed up on Friday night and some returned on Saturday. Many are interested in getting together again. Good time was had by all. It was nice meeting some of our youthful posters like Snowboy, Tennisandy, and Tazmanian. Also, it was good seeing some of our favorite dancers and posters.

I also am not aware that Denise has a brother and I have known the family for quite some time. Where do these "close friends" come from?

Spoke to Denise today who told me that the expectation of an imminent new location may not be realized because of the present rigid enforcement of the zoning laws. The important thing is that Denise refuses to retire and will not give up until a suitable location in or near the theater district is found even if it means waiting until after the Nov elections when hopefully zoning law enforcement will be relaxed.

So all you horny voiyeurs, who, like me, contemplated suicide when the Gaiety closed, hold off. There may yet be meaning to life.

RE: THERE IS MEANING

There is a great solution to the loss of the Gaiety, its the monthly private party many attended this past weekend.....

Hott dancers and a lot of the Gaietys customers.

Not a sleezy sex party just a bunch of dancers and tipping customers having a great time....

Even the wonder man Ben V as DJ/MC/and water show expert at the end of the nite, those who left early friday nite missed the best show i have ever seen him do.

Saturday could have been a filming of DANCERS GONE WILD.....

The next one is scheduled for the end of May..... 20 & 21 ?

Another Hunky line up is planned.

Get on the invite list NOW,,, Only the first 100 will be invited each nite to attend...You can prepay via pay pal...Guaranteed fantastic time!!!

"I think I forgot to mention a few dancers names who attended the party if someone else can remember there names can you please post them."

RE: THERE IS MEANING

The Once a month "Pvt Party" sounds alot more Fun for everyone.. Than the visit to the Rundown Theatre was, towards the END of it's Long Run.. Except for the guys who preferred to float in and out in their Raincoats, never being "Social",or even "Cordial" to anyone..I doubt those guys would feel comfortable in a "Party" Environment anyway.. November elections in NYC.. will have no effect whatsoever on any VERY alleged return of "Sodom & Gomorr-ha" or the "G".. So those Fortunate enuff to obtain an Invite, better grab the chance, as this will be the only chance for those in NYC who appreciate the "Dancin Boys" to see them up close and Personal! :+

The party was a great deal of fun. It was so nice to see some of the G regulars and meet some new guys. Giovanni has to be given special credit for his super sexy dance late Friday night.

But credit is also due in depth to those who went to the effort to present this event. My thanks to you.

I think you really want to be shooting the messengers

I really have no dog in this hunt.

I have attended the Gaiety 3 times I think. The first out of curiosity, the second to take a friend, and the third to kill some time until I met up with friends. Most of the guys really are not my type nor is the show format, although a few such as Ben V can turn it into a real entertainment form.

As for denise, I wouldnt award her the Miss Congenaility crown but I failed to notice any horns protruding from here forehead either. What I did notice was the ususal NY personality warmth. Good or bad it is no different than the majority of the city it seems. No foul there.

>A club, run by a str8 woman, catering to gays, sucking their

>money out of their pockets at every spin of the wheel???

My times there I never noticed her holding a gun on patrons to pay up or sucking money out of wallets. Many here are comiserating and bemoaning the G's MIA status. I haven't seen any posts complaining about having their wallets or anything else sucked.

I think it is fortunate that someone, be they straight, gay, female, or undecided, was willing to run a 'club' for gay guys. Too bad there aren't more willing. And the club is a business, not a charity. All businesses have to balance price and market. Denise like almost all other entreprenuers was running a business to make a living. Thank god some are willing to try to make a living off of gay men. I wish there were more.

>Pretending to be something noble and worthy, while in reality,

>being nothing more than a front for illegal prostitution???

>

I haven't seen Denise pretend anything or comment or respond about any of this or about her business generally. She is a business woman, neither a Saint nor Satan. The only serious lack of character I can atttribute to her is the way she closed down without any notice to patrons and MOST ESPECIALLY to dancers that were left stranded after incurring expenses. I don't know the behind the scene issues involved but from the seats out front that seemed inexcusable.

Your comment about a front for illegal prostitution is IMO totally off base in tenor in addition to being factually wrong I think. I would agree if Denise were running the off-premise transactions, getting part of the take or even taking a kick back. As far as I know she is not and I have seen no one else claim otherwise. I suspect that she would prefer that part of the scene did not exist as it increases risk and puts heat on her business.

So why dump on Denise when your bitching seems to be stirred by the posts and posters in the forum. Seems your ire is misdirected.

Taz, I was good to finally meet you at this fun party. Also good to see Lucky, Foxy and Cooper again.

It was a lot of fun. I had a couple of really good lapdances with Vito-who is very sweet and endowed!

Ben gave a special performance at the end of Friday night. It was the best and sexiest performance I have seen him perform in NYC. A special treat for those that stayed to the end. Saturday night finale all dancers on stage and in aisle dancing.

Are there any pics(from the party?) Or new ones of the dancers? This party sounds better than any show the Gaiety I've ever seen(except when Ben V's performing). lol:9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9

RE: Private Party in NY

Because the dancers were introduced to the patrons, and because it was a smaller, more intimate setting, I think the dancers performed at their best, at least on the mainstage. One of the lap dances I experienced could have been better...but time will allow some of these issues to thresh out. For now, we are lucky to have this new experience and I encourage everyone to try to attend.

The venue is pretty interesting too...no tourists to step over, that's for sure!

RE: Private Party in NY

Can you describe the setup? Obviously, there's a stage but you mention lap dances. Where are they done? In another room or at tables/chairs surrounding the stage?
