I love visiting Montreal and I try to get there four or five times a year. I stopped going to Stock quite a while ago, simply because I felt I was being "hustled" by dancers who were wanting all sorts of more money for things they considered "extra" that I found elsewhere for the $10.00.

I know others have already said it, but I find that getting to know who's there, talking to them and when one seems 'decent' then I buy them a drink. I have been able to weed out the bad guys. Waiters, who I treat really well and get to know also, always welcome me warmly with a kiss and they too can discreetly say things like: oh yeah, you'd like him, or as once happened, a waiter said to me " I am not sure he is your type" and I understood the discreet warning.

As a matter of fact, I have never gone wrong. And sometimes, I leave the hotties to the rest, and go with the tried and true.

This is what works for me, I don't mean to say it will work for any of you.

This is an interesting discussion.

I am very sorry that I missed Boston Guy in Montreal this weekend. I was also in Montreal and enjoyed my visit. We will meet someday.

I enjoy Stock, but I have also had some difficulty with counting of songs. My big fight came with Riccardo. I am experienced at these clubs and I know how to count. I pay much more attention to counting $20 dances. I knew that we had done three dances, and Riccardo had not even gotten hard yet. He then mentioned that we were about to start the sixth dance. That show was over. I paid for three dances and told him to fuck off if he didn't like it. I left Stock that night and did not go back the rest of that particular weekend. If we stand up for ourselves, they will be less likely to try to pull that shit.

Again though, it all depends on the dancer. Most times I get my money's worth in the $20 dances. But you can usually tell right away and end it after one or two.

One time an afternoon dancer at Campus rpped me off on dance count. He was good, but he charged me for 10 dances, and I knew that we had done 8 at the most. I was newer at this then, so I paid rather than cause a commotion, but I was pissed. When I left, the manager was on the sidewalk having a smoke. I started ranting and told him the story about how I just got ripped off. He said "Wait here." He went back up into Campus, and a couple of minutes later, the dancer came down to the sidewalk and refunded my $20 with an apology and, by that time, the unwanted double cheek kiss. Sometimes it pays to speak up.

But in most cases, I have found I get good value from dancers at both clubs. If the session is not good, end it quickly. I don't usually have an issue if the dance count is off by one. I have even had cases of long hot sessions where the dancer seriously under counted. I don't argue in those cases, but I will tip if it has been a good long session.

I find it extremely frustrating when I read the above posts and read about "getting your money's worth" WHATEVER THAT MEANS. Does that mean you suck or, you get sucked??? or is it just the ability to "touch the goods" ...do they ever touch you? I've had privates with some really nice guys at Stock (Manuel) and he NEVER allowed me to touch his privates. Is that a good or bad experience???Please tell me.

This idea of dancing around a subject without stating exactly what a good or bad "private" involves is really frustrating.

I didn't fill in all the details in my original post but the "to-ing and fro-ing" was a lot less pleasant than I conveyed. Jordon actually physically blocked me from leaving and although I wasn't intimidated by him (I am 5'11" and he perhaps 1" taller), I tried several times to pass him and he blocked me. I then raised my voice to be heard by the disc jockey, whose door was open. The door closed!

Next, a dancer came by and I think it was Ricardo, altho I can't be sure (his real name is Mounir (he had previously given me his card as he does massages as well on the side)). Anyway, he was no help and just said we had to work it out ourselves and then he left. The club was not busy, this was Monday night. So finally, I decided to cut the difference (at that point we were arguing about $20 although I was mostly arguing on principle). So I offered him $10, which he grudgingly accepted and I left.

I was a little upset, but went on my way and within a few minutes at Campus had forgotten about it. I won't be going back anytime soon though.x(

Shouldn´t the Management control or restrict this kind of repeated behavior by a dancer?

I would think so for the sake of the business.

When I first started to head North to Montreal and take in the strip bars, I wasn't certain of the "back-room" protocol. While sitting at the bar in Campus, I started up a converstation with a guy named Bill from Boston. He said he was a regular at the clubs and filled me in on the action. He told me which dancers were good in the back, by good he meant more contact, and which dancers to avoid. One thing he told me which has helped in not getting ripped off in the back was to tell the dancer to count out loud every time a new song started. It worked and I've never had any problems with the song count. Maybe this idea will help others.

I'll be in Montreal in

>2 weeks and was concerned if the bar would be opened or not.

hello mercury40, I too will be in Montreal in 2 weeks. I arrive on the 7th of April. If you would like to meet up for a bottle of water at Le Stock-non-bar, let me know. It would be nice to meet other board members. On my last trip I met Cooper, Sparky, and some other guys from the States. We all enjoyed a New Year's dinner compliments of my favorite bartender Tomy.

If you are planning on meeting someone on April 7th at Stock you better have a Plan B in case it is closed. There is no guarantee it will be open then as the indications are they will be closed for 3 weeks after this week. But stay tuned, this is an evolving story.

Luv2play: I really appreciate all your on the spot reporting regarding the "evolving story" at Stockbar. Keep up the great work, it's most helpful.

Hey beefeater: Have fun in Montreal, the weather is improving and there are many new and returning faces at Stockbar, Campus, and Adonis. Hope the problems at Stock get resolved in time for your visit. Keep us posted and enjoy your visit with "Tomy". :-)

Good suggestion, thanks... Another idea is one used by a friend of mine who frequents Montreal. Sometimes, when he goes into the back for a lap-dance, he'll arrange with the dancer a certain amount of time and fee for a dance. He will only use this approach with a dancer he's familiar with and has had a good experience with. For example, he'll negotiate 30 minutes for X $ amount. It works for him and is less costly than the $20 a song charge at Stock and, if business is slow for a dancer, he'll be happy to work something out.

<the best lap dances one can get in Montreal are at Le Stock, whether it be the $10 or $20 dance. Unfortunately, it's not just the Stock dancers who are "suffering" this winter.

the dancers are exerting peer pressure on their fellow dancers not to take their pants down when doing $10 dances, thereby encouraging patrons to go for the $20 dances. when i discovererd this with a couple guys in january, they only made money on several songs, instead of an openended number. i know for a fact one dancer has not been coerced by the peer pressure yet, both in jan, and last week. when you engage in the $20 songs you won't necessarily get a whole lot more. it will depend on the particular dancers. ask - and quit after a couple songs if they aren't true to their word. may cost a little bit to experiment, but you can find some dancers in $20 booths worth the extra money, some not. worse comes to worse, i'll watch the stage shows at stock, but do my lap dances at campus for $10.

"Yes, they are open as of this posting."

I spoke on the phone with 3 different dancers and got 3 different answers. No one really seems to know what's going on.

Hope when you guys (mercury40 and beefeater) go North in a couple of weeks everything will be straightened out. Keep us posted.

The lastest from Le Stock Bar is, the doors are open but the bar is no longer serving alcohol. This is supposed to continue for 3 weeks. Too bad the ban couldn't have been on smoking! :-)

Hey mercury40, looks like we'll be sipping "Montclair Eau De Source Naturelle" together.

beef, better yet, I'll order the "eau de" tonic and you can bring the beefeaters! See you in Montreal. Anyone else coming?

Does anyone have any info from this weekend about what is going on at Stock? Were they open, serving liquor, fully stocked with customers and dancers? Thanks.

next time I'll read more carefully, I see you'll be arriving on 4/7. How long are you staying? Are you still going if the Stock is having problems, or do the other clubs interest you?

Pierce, I'm planning on 5 days, but not all in Montreal. Regardless of the situation at Le Stock Bar, I'll still be going, and yes, I do frequent other clubs, just not Taboo.

If you're interested, send me an inbox message and we can talk.

I'm not in Montreal but I did speak with one of the dancers today. He told me that Le Stock Bar will remain open for the next 3 weeks even though no liquor will be served. Water and soft drinks are available. I was also told that a shuttle is available to take customers from Le Stock to the West Side Bar if they want to drink. Also, more dancers are scheduled for the West Side. I don't know how it's working out but maybe someone who's there can fill us in.

Beefeater: Thanks for the current information on the Stock. It would be interesting to know if liquor rules out over the dancers. I for one can enjoy a good stage show with just a soda, hey, it worked at the G... As for the West Side Bar, it's still out of the way, even with a free shuttle. One of the nice things about the Montreal strip clubs is that you can walk for one to another.

It makes no difference to me if Le Stock were serving liquor or not. I go to see the dancers and enjoy the show. Would anyone not go because they didn't serve liquor?

I agree about the Westside Bar, it's not a good location.
