Hello Fellow Board Members,

I have a question to ask (maybe it can be viewed as a poll). And, before I ask, I know I have been guilty of this myself in the past.

Are we giving out too much information when we discuss the happenings of places, such as, Stella's, The Gaiety, La Fleurs, etc. I am not referring to the discussions about escorts and what their "hobbies" are. I am referring to the activities that happen (or at least what is purported to happen) in these establishments? Do any of you feel members of law enforcement are using our discussions for plans of action?

It just seems all the fun places are closing or changing lately. I just wonder if it is all coincidence or a result of what is discussed here.

I am not suggesting we change how and what we talk about here by any means. I am just curious to see what others think.

I think you have answered your own question. Doubtless at least some law enforcement agencies monitor this board and others.

VDN: You pose a great question and one that I've also been thinking about. There were 2 recent news articles, one in USA Today and another on Fox on-line that cited police use of internet m/c to raid a club and arrest escorts. So to answer your "poll", yes, it's already being done.

As for the recent closing of Stella's, I'm reading too many different reasons as to why it's closed, the latest being it's "under renovations"... La Fleurs has re-open and I was told it was closed for 1 week because of "electrical problems". IMHO, whatever the case, I think we should always use discretion when reporting "activities" in any club.

Btw, is your RED's review still bothering you? :+

If so, I wonder if any of them get curious, go to the places, report back to their superiors that there is nothing wrong going on then come back for fun!?

Lord knows there is all kind of shenanigans going on at T and A bars but they don't get bothered.

I blame the quakers.

Or, at least, we should use some kind of code or cuneiform.

>Btw, is your RED's review still bothering you? :+

Yes it is and yes it always will. I still think my hole closed the place.

That place was simply divine. I know people think it wasn't all that and one hasn't lived until one gets a lap job in Montreal. However, it was just grand. I wonder what is going on, if anything, at RED.

VDN,

I've always felt "safe" here at M4M. I'm sure there are some "lukers" that use this site to gather info. But I've never personally been approached about my activities with the boys based on my postings here.

However, I have been contacted by someone at another site concerning a posting I made after a visit to the Gaiety. (BTW, I use one e-mail account for this site and a completely different e-mail account for the other site. I can easily tell which posting generated the questions.)

The e-mail I received asked for very specific details about a private I had with one of the dancers. They were asking about how the contact was made, what I specifically said to the dancer in the lounge, what we specifically did during the private, etc. At first I thought it was just some guy trying to get details so he could jack-off. But, as the e-mails continued, I got the feeling that I was either being set up or used to gather info for a raid.

Since I didn't know the guy sending the e-mail, I didn't say anything that would incriminate me. I spoke in generalities and did not admit to any specific illegal activity. But I have blocked all e-mail from that person because I felt they were way too curious.

I'd love to know the "real" reason behind some of things that have been happening lately in NYC. I'm beginning to think they're clamping down on gay establishments. After all, it is an election year. x(

VERY suspicious for sure! I have had a few of those as well. Those "strangers" who did question me soon stopped when I told them I was gathering the information from my data bank in the third realm.

Good idea. We all do need to be careful. I have learned that for sure. I use to be so flowing with information. Hell, Barbara Walters could crack this nut in three seconds.

This is just another example of BUSH ruining things for us. Seriously though, there is either something going on or we are blowing things way out of proportion. The rumor mill is always on 24/7. I should give a call to two friends I met at Stella's to find out if they know anything.

The police and the FBA just did a big raid on the Sound Factory tonight (a hop and a skip from the Gaiety, etc.). Though there was a lot of drugs going on there it seems there is a new "neighborhood watch" going on in the area.

I two have gotten letters asking me for details on a few dancers

I always write back to the sender that its best to ask the dancer himself , After all these guys are my friends and I am Not about to

do anything to harm my realtionship with them, nor get them in trouble in anyway. I feel good about that and I never had to write a second letter after that. Some people just love to read deatils so they can get off, fortunaly my site is not like that what it does have is some hot pics and some helpful information. Like VDN I two

felt that maybe my yahoo group for Stellas closed down the joint but then again theres nothing on that site that has Not be said in NEXT

magazine, or HX But then again they been saying things about Stellas

now for years ...

Maybe law enforcement. Maybe uptight busybody tipsters who then go and file complaints, forcing law enforcement to do something even when they were just as happy to look the other way.

This is an open message board, and this site has taken on a much higher profile in the last 2 years or so than it used to have. You *always* have to assume that whatever you write is not just for "us" and should write accordingly.

Personally I haven't seen anything that was over the top written on this message board. For example, I don't recall anyone writing anything publicly about the details of a private show. And that's a good policy.

To the extent a private show or some companionship may or may not be available, I would think that law enforcement is fully aware of it. I mean Stella's and the Gaiety have been around for years. And there's always the Townhouse on the East Side which got quick a bit of national publicity a few years ago due to the Versace murder. On a side note, anyone fondly remember Rounds?

Of course noting details about a new club which might have otherwise escaped attention could be a different story. So an exercise of discretion is always a good idea for this message board as well as the dancers themselves.

But I think the bottom line is that when something spurs law enforcement to act -- neighborhood pressure, easy headlines in an election year, reported rip offs and fraud -- they act. I don't think general postings on this message board is the catalyst. But that's just me.

I don't claim that it is, though it is certainly possible. And I wasn't talking about "general" postings or suggesting not to post. Just advising caution and forethought. And I think it would be a mistake for anyone to assume that "others" (and that probably includes some private citizens out on a crusade) do not read what goes on here, whether or not that leads to any sort of action.

?? What was that about? The Versace murder was in SoBe. What's the Townhouse connection?

Here's the link to the news story on the raid at Sound Factory. The Club had been under the watchful eyes of the NYPD for several years and the place had become a drug dealers paradise. I don't think I'd call this a "new neighborhood watch" program and it certainly doesn't fit in the catagory of information gained from a message center. It seems that Sound Factory and it's owners brought on their own problems.

RE: Sound Factory

The best quote of the week came from a Sound Factory employee who told ABC Eyewitness News:

"They've asked us to get DOG SNIFFING DOGS... we've done that. We've done the best we could to take care of this Club".

Not to insult law enforcement but I don't think the average vice cop knows anymore than AOL chat rooms and web sites. Newsgroups and Yahoo groups may be too advanced for them. It seems every time they bust anyone it is from AOL chat rooms or a web site. AND you can make members of Yahoo groups answer the question "are you a member of law enforcement" before you give them access.

I've seen television news stories where they claim victory over the dark side by closing down a notorius public bathroom where sex is rampant, and have shown the "Cruisingforsex.com" website as a source of information. I'm sure there are numerous closeted members of the religious right combing through the postings on this website with their hands wildly doing the nasty yet keeping in mind those business they can attack after the blood has returned to their brains! It would not suprise me at all to know that the Giuliani minions here in NYC are busy culling through every Google item which appears with the words: gay, escort, hustler, sex, cross dressing (tips for Rudy himself!)

I usually keep my posting pretty vague for just that reason...unless I'm reporting a theft of nipple rings by Billy Harrington or some other nasty transgression by Scott Sloan (I loved when he appeared in an issue of Men's Workout as the cover photo on an article about flatulence i.e. farts!). Those are stories worth repeating and keeping the public aware.

I don't make this stuff up, I just report it!
