I had a chance to speak at length with Claude, the new general manager of Taboo. He told me that the building that houses Taboo, and includes the Hotel Dorion, is owned by his sister. On July 30 (yesterday), the club itself was sold to another Montreal businessman who will work in conjunction with his sister to try to make Taboo a better place.

Claude himself says he will manage the bar for a while until it is running really smoothly, and then he will turn over the management to someone else. He says he is doing this as a favor to his sister.

The dancers seem very upbeat and excited with the new direction of the club. Tonight there were 19 dancers (pretty good for a Thursday). The crowd was also good, and the backroom fairly busy.

As I mentioned, a lot of the dancers that left Taboo have returned... like Francis and Criss. Anthony, who now works at Stock, spent his entire night there shooting pool and talking with the dancers. ?Perhaps another return is in the making?

Had a great time... with the dancers, the current M4M crowd which includes TY, DickNLA, Escort Ryan, and Austin Tanner. Unfortunately, YFSC had to leave. Tomorrow, it is rumored that more US party reinforcements are on the way from NYC and DC! :)

Can't wait.

Did Travis leave and Austin Tanner take his place. In addition to his good looks I bet Austin's cute southern accent stands out in the crowd.

And no wonder Ryan hasn't returned my calls about my NYC trip in 2 weeks if he is celebrating with you guys.;)

Is this weekend Pride up there or do I have my weekends mixed up?

Gay Pride-Montreal

No you are right----Gay Pride began last Monday, the 28th. There were posters and banners all over the place with the slogan: "Divers City" clever play on diversity. The park just south of the bus station and across from the Gouverneur was totally barricaded off, and booths were being set up even last weekend when I was there. This forced the homeless people who usually sleep in the park to find new "digs" and I saw many in places I had not seen them before---no problems, just a comment.

Yes, Travis left. And I was SOOOO sad to see him go. VEry few people are more attractive on the 6th day as they are on the first... and Travis was certainly in that category. The only consolation prize is that Austin is here now... and he is a wonderful boy. The dancer's loved him last night!!!!!! Several of them kept hitting on him. Dammit... they should pay attention to ME! hehe j/k

Ryan is here until Sunday... so judging from what he was doing last night, I wouldn't expect any return calls or emails!! LOL

And yes it is Pride.

Wish you were here!

Austin says hello!

Tell Austin I send my best, and surprised that he remembers me. I certainly have fond memories of him.}(

Marc thanks for the info on Taboo. Sounds like the club is really turning around and will be even better than before if that is possible. I will be going up there labor day weekend and I am already counting down the days. You going up that weekend?

RE: The

Taboo was fantastic tonight (the Friday of Pride weekend). Packed house, 21 dancers, lots of energy.

I enjoyed all my usual favorites (Damien, Criss, Pierre, etc.)... and some of my newly found favorites, like Niik (that is how he spells his name, actually).

But I really wanted to share my new discovery... Jordan. He was actually there all week, but wearing a knitted ski cap, so I overlooked him. Tonight he was decked out in a long sleeve shirt, unbuttoned, with thin white pants and natural hair.

He was just beautiful. Tall, sexy, very nice build... fantastic lips, and best of all, a very sound view of life.

Our table... which had myself, Tampa Yankee, DickNla, Escort Ryan, Austin Tanner, and Luke from DC all immediately fell in love!!!!!! Between all 6 of us taking him into the back, I think we made his night.

Tomorrow is the BIG night. Can't wait!

RE: The

Well... after an unbelievably long time in Montreal, I am finally home. I already miss it.

In no particular order, here are the neat things about my last time.

1) Meeting and spending almost a whole week with Travis from Boulder. He is VERY special.

2) Reacquianting with favorite Taboo dancers, especially Damien, Niik, Yannick, Pierre, Criss, and Pierre-Luc.

3) Meeting some new dancers... including the fucking gorgeous and studly Jordan (yes, some of the dancers can best be described as studly... e.g. this one Niik, and Criss).

4) Hanging out with the M4M contingent, including first-timers to Montreal like Austin Tanner from Atlanta, Luke from DC, and DickNLA from Socal. Also spending time with veterans like Tampa Yankee, and escort Ryan from NYC, and meeting for the first time YFSC and NesMontreal.

5) Falling in love with the singer Lara Fabian... if you listen to her song Adagio in Italian... By the way, when I bought the CD, I discovered that Canadian music stores allow you to have them open any CD you are interested in and listen to it before you buy it.

6) Sitting at Le Club Sandwich at 4 AM watching all the beautiful people there for Pride walk by on the street.

7) Seeing ex-Taboo dancer James and his new bf Carl, catching up on old times, and having them hit it off with Travis having the 3 of them dance the night away at Club Unity. James is fucking more gorgeous now than ever, and we all wish him luck in his endeavors outside the dancing world.

8) Dinners, art galleries and wine in Old Montreal with good company and good restaurants. I recommend Le Grill and Viewx Port for inexpensive but nice and tasteful casual dinners. Don't forget the small scallop stew appetizer at Le Grill.

9) Seeing Jimmy of Stock one last time before he takes his extended vacation.

I know I left out a bunch of fun stuff.. but that is what sticks out in my mind. And what really is running through my mind now is making arrangements for my NEXT visit!

RE: The

Marc, thank you so much for taking the time to post during-and after your trips.

I am planning on looking into retiring in Montreal-buying a condo etc.

I won't retire for a long time-but it seems like something I could invest in(might do it with some friends who visit there often-use it as a time share-but one that builds equity)

Perhaps you might want to look into getting a place there also? You really seem to enjoy it there-and,while the USD is not as strong as it was a year ago, there still seem to be some bargains-just a thought.

Has any one else looked into buying a place up there? Please share your experiences!

Hey BGP... I have had similar thoughts, although unfortunately I am years from retirement age. What I was considering was more of a business venture, perhaps a Bed & Breakfast up there. I would love to correspond with anyone who has any thoughts or interest in same. I envision something similar to LeHouseboy perhaps, if any of you guys are familiar with that. (I also have visions of boys dancing - but maybe those are just flashbacks!! LOL) Seriously though, I hope anyone with a spark of interest would please feel free to email or private message me.

One concern I have though is the following. It seems that for many of us travelling to Montreal on an intermittent basis, we find that it is somewhat a bit of paradise for us - a wonderful vacation. I wonder if some of that "paradise" would fade if one was to live there permanently?! Mull and ponder! :-)

RE: The

First, let me say that I forgot to mention that Taboo was overflowing on Saturday during Pride. They overloaded the AC, and it was way too hot in there. In many ways! I am happy for them, and I hope everything works out. The dancer have their court date on August 8 by the way... so things should start becoming interesting.

For now, I am interested in being a visitor. Yes, I love the place, but I get my fill of it with multiple trips. And for now it is not worth it to maintain a property up there.

As for a business venture... I would just exercise a little bit of caution. I have been watching first hand what happened to the American owners of Taboo. This is not specific to Canada... but it is good business sense to make sure that you absolutely know the lay of the land before you carve a piece out of it.

RE: The

About 2 years ago when I was at Campus I met a couple of guys from Wisconsin that bought a condo right in the Gay Village. They were visiting Montreal for their first time and fell in love with the city so much that they decided to buy a place on the spot. I actually rent the condo now everytime I go up there. Its a great one bedroom in a perfect location, much better than the Gouvernours. I actually thought about buying a place up there a couple of years ago with a friend of mine but we never followed through with it. I wish I had because I know property values have gone up in the last couple of years. Being only a 5 hour drive I would be up there every weekend if I owned a condo.}(

Yes Big guy I too have looked at condos in Village of Montreal , Unfortunatly I was just shopping and Not really in the market to buy.

But if I had the money I buy a condo there in a heartbeat, I just love Montreal and got home today Monday Aug 4. I miss the place and my dancer friends already.

Damm... is right, Jay. I wish we could have met. I am sure we saw each other in Taboo, just didn't connect. I was there every night really. In the beginning of the week with Travis (who had to be one of the most beautiful boys in the city)... and of course Damien, Yannick, Niik, Pierre, etc. By the end of the week, I was with a whole bunch of M4M'rs (we sat at stage front), and spent much of my time drooling over Jordan! hehe

Mark...

Hello.... who are you trying to kid about this 'no particular order' thing. :)

Well it is Tues. AM and I'm sitting on the 20th floor of the Gouverneur... we decided to extend... may stay another day, who knows. :)

Monday night at Taboo seemed slow when we arrived shortly after midnight. Even so we had plenty of attention from the Cris BEnoit and Ghislaine and then Jerry keeping our glasses filled. Left at 2:30 for Pride closing ball at Aria. We bailed at 7 AM -- bed never felt so good.

I must email you about our adventures at and after the parade. Luke was a show stopper in his leather outfit with the very short red tartan kilt. Many were dying to know what he was wearing underneath. Curiosity of a few was satisified. :) Will send pics -- some with police in 'compromising position with you know who' and you will never think of the lamp post outside of Le CLub Sandwich the same way ;)
