Nobody can hijack a thread as long as everybody remains free to post whatever he wants. If a thread takes a turn you don't like it's because some people are posting things you don't like in it and there aren't many others who want to turn the thread away from that. In other words, people are voting with their keyboards. You may not like the result of the vote but people have a right to choose the kind of content they want. You can create as many threads as you want about topics you like and you can read only your threads and the ones that don't offend you. Nobody makes you read the others. DCescortBoy is pretty annoying but he has a point about that. If you don't like it don't read it.

 

It looks to me as if the most controversial threads get the most views. Nothing surprising about that. The news media make their money based on the same principle. If the threads you like are not popular with the regular visitors here maybe that shows this is not the right board for you.
