I hate these things with a passion and appreciate the link. :-)

out of spite, i would never buy anything from the fiends who foist those pop up ads on me; if others ignore them and boycott the "evil doers" who pay for them, they will vanish in time as they will not be economic to promote.

Does it work with Netscape? I try to keep Microsoft at bay as well.

Got that program and it is excellent! Another cool program which you can download for free is "Ad-Aware". This program logs cookies that are implanted in your computer when you visit different sites and lets you periodically clean them off. Since I started using that program my spam emails have decreased by 90% (which is wonderful).

This is a excellent program HooBoy. There is another that works with all browsers, including opera, called PopNot. I don't recall the url but I'm certain it could be found at downloads.com or shareware.com

Cheers! Ritchie

Fair warning, guys...

This software can be a bit over-zealous sometimes.

Twice today, it has killed THIS SITE (M4M) when it mistakenly thought a popup was coming up. If you use any of the live sex sites, they will often use techniques that make their windows appear to be "popups" which this software will nuke. (Sure, you can exempt specific sites.)

Aside from that, though, two thumbs up! Once you get it configured for the sites you routinely visit it's terrific!

Almost makes me want to pry my Mac from my clenched and locked hands -- the only thing that's come close. :-)

Why not just use your browser's utility to do it... located under edit>preferences on the IE5 for the Mac. A similar utility is available on the Wintel version although called somthing other than preferences and in an other menu not EDIT if I recall. Also found on both platforms for Netscape.

Why bother with separate software?
