If you get a chance to see this little indie movie, do. It's playing in a limited number of cities now and will no doubt be available on video in your favorite video shoppes soon.

It's about a young guy who falls in love with a star of gay porn, moves to LA, lands a job at the star's video company, and ends up being the star's favorite fluffer.

Parallel to the "love story" (which never goes anywhere, because of course the star is gay4pay), you get to see a lot about the porn industry/sex work. Some of it is even accurate. ;-)

I attended with two actual pornstars, Daniel Reed and Peter Dixon, and we giggled at much of what went on in the movie. There were occasional knowing glances between us. We were actually unusual in the crowd because everyone else was there alone. Three guys together sorta stood out. (And, of course, half the guys in the crowd had hired one or the other of them.)

Since the movie uses actual pornstars as extras, we'd occasionaly point and say "Hey, there's...." or whatever.

It's no "Gone with the Wind", but it's a fun couple of hours. And the eye candy ain't bad. Members of this site will chuckle at the mention of "a website where Johns can review their escorts". LOL

And if there's any way you can swing it, see it with a pornstar or two. They bring a unique perspective to the experience. I would have enjoyed the movie anyway, but sitting between those two enhanced the experience.

I thought fluffers went out of style when Viagra came about?

Well, Deej, not sure most of us are as well-connected as you.

It is a sweet little movie. The main character is so sweet, in fact, you wonder if he has any brains at all. Smitten with the porn star, who is not only straight and stupid, but abusive, reckless and cruel as well, he comes perilously close to ruin, as do others as well, but of course he is saved in the end. It even ends with our hero riding off into the sunset (sort of).

If it made me think of anything afterward, it was how powerful lust is, and how unknowing we often are about the objects of our desire and the consequences of acting on it. The ancient wisdom about the power and blindness of love, leading to ruin, is clearly on evidence here!

Well worth seeing!

Interesting perspective.

There's actually some controversy in the porn crowd because Wash West REFUSED to allow porn actors to even audition for any of the leads. He tried to distance himself from his porn past.

They hired the "str8 but gay for pay" actor because he was physically perfect for the part, and there are a few scenes where it was obvious that they did some creative re-writes becase his dramatic skills were lacking.

Still it was a fun movie.

Like I said, it's no "Gone With the Wind" but it's fun.

There are better ways to spend your time. The film is OK, but ultimately it doesn't pay off. The promotion and provocative title promise more than they deliver. There isn't even any frontal nudity for crying out loud!

It has some fun moments, but I thought the ending was just dumb.

Just my $.02.

Actually, there is. But you must have blinked. It's very brief and we had some argument over who it was. Supposedly it's the star, but we suspect it was one of the pornstar extras.

Just plain "Fluff" would be a better title for it. Nothing wrong with fluff, of course, but then it shouldn't be promoted as the film we hoped "Boogie Nights" might be (but wasn't). BN, while over-long, was a fairly complex & pretty probing look at its subject, whereas this movie barely reaches the made-for-TV level. Riddled with cliches (of characterization, plotting,& dialogue), it's almost painfully predictable to sit through.

Suggestion: if you're still curious, and you've got Netscape, go to the movie's own website (either 'fluffer' or 'thefluffer') and after sampling the two clips, reading the synopsis, and checking out the

character descriptions, you'll have 'seen' it, I assure you. (And saved yourself some money for a few stocking stuffers, too.)

The whole thing reminds me of a German movie of some forty years ago--"The Third Sex"--which intended to shock an innocent public with its brutally candid insights into gaydom. Like "The Fluffer," it was quaint-on-arrival.

God! A real trip down memory lane. I haven't thought about this film in years. I saw it at a re-run house in New York City shortly after I arrived in town (1959-60?). The man sitting next to me started bumping my leg and finally reached over and started feeling my cock. This was the first time that had every happened to me in a movie. We went home together and had great sex. This was much more thrilling than the film; that was a real snoozer.
