Just curious about your Christmas card traditions. Do you send out Christmas cards? Are they light-hearted, religious, gay? Are you receiving more or less Christmas cards than usual? Do you include the usual newsletter or personalized messages?

This certainly isn't a earth-shattering question but I've noticed fewer gay friends are sending cards the past couple of years.

Since I am a curmudgeon even at the best of times, I don't send Christmas cards except to my immediate family. And I always write personal notes. Those one-size-fits-all newsletters make me gag. I have had one terrific holiday experience this year. On the way to work a wonderfully changed Christmas song was playing on the radio, complete with big orchestra and chorus. It was called, "Walking 'Round in Women's Underwear."

Interesting question. I don't usually send Christmas cards to immediate family who I see at least once or twice a week. I figure our gift exchange is sufficient.

For relatives I see only a couple times a year, I do send Christmas cards rather than exchanging gifts. In the past, I rarely sent cards to neighbors because I didn't really know my neighbors. When I moved a couple years ago, I found myself in a very friendly neighborhood. I started including many of them on my Christmas card list simply to show appreciation for our friendship and because they are becoming an important part of my non-work life.

I used to send "gay" cards to many friends but lately have just sent out humorous Christmas cards. Although I am a spiritual person, I do not like sending religiously-themed cards. I have many friends who have "issues" with or been kicked out of their church. They would find religious cards offensive and would only rub salt in their wounds.

As for newsletters, I personally enjoy receiving them. But, I haven't found the time or felt the need to send one.

So, Tony, want me to add you to my list?

My shop sends out about a thousand but that's not really the point. I send a couple of dozen with a note. I tend to go with secular/Hallmark style.

Anyone ever sent a card to their favorite escorts? I have spent some personal quality time (besides sex) with them and I do think of them during the holiday season. I would like to but I have an idea it might cross a line. Of course you have to know their physical address. Any opinion?

I send out about a dozen to friends and relations, no immediate family. Its a good way to keep up to date, people move and change employment so often now.

I buy my cards from Covenant House, a charity for street kids here in Vancouver (and all over the world).

I wouldn't dream of **not** sending a card to my favorite escort. I think the holiday season is a wonderful time to thank him once more for all the wonderful times we've spent together.

And, yesterday, I received a DVD and card from him, expressing the same sentiments.

I usually send a rather sedate one to family members with a personally written year in review letter. For all my friends I pick out the perverse little ones from the local Queer-Mart. you know, the ones about stockings being stuffed, and Santa Bears' big belly.

I only buy Christmas cards for my family. However the other day I recieved a card from a friend inviting me to a christmas party. The card had 2 very hot looking guys on the front. I told the guy that sent it that if those 2 guys would show up, I would definately be there!
