HERE'S HOW:

 

We've upgraded the Message Center software and have a lot more features. Please check to make sure your profile is set according to your likes/dislikes.

 

1) Click "User" Icon in lobby at top of page

2) Click "Modify your profile..."

3) Click "Submit"

 

Cick "On" for "Disable your email?" if you don't want people to see your email address.

 

Click "On" for "Disable your inbox?" if you don't want people to be able to send messages to your Message Center inbox.

 

Click "On" for "Hide your profile?" if you don't want people to see your profile at all. <Boo, Hiss> for those that check this one.

 

Put cool and sexy answers in the rest of the fields. Click "Submit Changes" at the bottom of the page.

Uhhh ... I think that you got that the wrong way round ...

 

You have to select *ON* for the "disable email" function in order to disable email ...

 

If you can change the wording of those menus it might be clearer to use "yes" and "no" instead of "on" and "off".

When and if someone sends me a "private message", what does that entail? Will it be an IM on my aol address or a box that only operates through here and if the later, which I would prefer, does it only work when I am checked in or does the message wait around for the next time I check in?

Has almost everything I want. Although there are one or

two others I might like to see I'll limit my

request to just one for next time you upgrade --

how about date of user registration for new users, I don't know if you have this info retroactively.

Love the ideas but I'm not the programmer behind this system. However, If you'll start a new thread with these type of ideas, I'll collect them every now and then and send them on.

Well, duh! I just got back from sending myself a message and it is the "inbox" and it evidently doesn't change colors when there's something in it.

I found this out all by myself and I'm all proud... on the lobby page (right after you logged on to the message centre) there is a line saying "you have new messages in your inbox" when appropriate (top left hand side). It's not there when you don't, duh. That's your clue. Click it... :-) Daddy's going to make me a techie one day.

 

Incidentally, I expect all these new features are going to take a while for us to get used to... but they're nice. Everything here is on the thin line between user convenience and user privacy... I for one did not like the idea of my 'real' address being visible to all, but then Hoo and Daddy helped me fix that as soon as I bitched about it.

And it's so easy to do.

 

On the first page of the Message Center, there is an icon marked USER. Click on it and then click the button that says "Modify your profile and set forum options". There you can input all kinds of information you want known about yourself or delete things you do not want known that you may have put in accidentally earlier.
