Portland does have a large abundance of gay youth who live on (and probably work) the streets. I had many friends like that when I lived there.

As does Seattle. The northwest and west coast in general is a great place for lack of better words for homeless people in general. PDX and Seattle are both fairly liberal cities and compared to some of the east coast and midwest our winters are pretty mild. I do notice a slight decrease at least visibly of the street youth durring the winter months but come spring they are like weeds and pop up all over the place.
