They exist in many cities. In most cases you need a car and a local to show you around, because they can be dangerous. If you make a local friend who thinks these are fun, and who has a car, give them a try! A few that I know of can be done on foot, but it could be risky.

In Rio, ask a friend with a car to take you to the "Via Apia" downtown. Don't go on foot; it's dangerous.

In São Paulo there's a meat rack on streets downtown near the Praça da República involving rua do Arouche as one of the sides of the block. Largely car cruising. There's also similar action in the Parque Trianon area (on av. Paulista across from the art museum) on Alameda Santos between Pamplona and Peixoto Gomide, and also on Dante.

In Curitiba, there's the downtown Praça Gen. Osório, and in Porto Alegre there's r. José Bonifácio along one side of Parque Farroupilha (the central park which is also dangerously cruisy at night). This is not an all-inclusive list. Similar places exist in other cities, but you'll need to ask locals for information. Also, in SP, Curitiba and Porto Alegre, things are trashier in the southern summer, when it's warmer and all the guys need to wear is a pair of shorts and (maybe) a T-shirt. Makes it easier to flop out the goodies!

Under NO, repeat, NO circumstances take someone you pick up at any of the meat racks to your hotel. Go to a "motel." If any of you goes, do report back on your experience!

P.S. - BRAZILIAN MEATRACKS

Found the details on the downtown meatrack near the Pça. da República: the circuit is rua do Arouche, Marquês de Itu, Rego Freitas and Largo do Arouche. There are also many gay bars on av. Vieira de Carvalho, which runs between the Largo do Arouche and Pça. da República. As is common in Brazil, the bar crowds overflow into the streets. Keep your eyes open; some of those guys are working, too. So are guys who are hanging out down at the Largo do Arouche end of the street. Have fun, but be careful! ;)
