I don't think its bad calling them boys...most are still under 30. I hate when I see handles on message boards or aol chat rooms where someone is over 35 still calling themselves boys, like studboy or something...that is stupid.

As far as the hotle goes, it is very close to the alley with boys bangkok, a massage place right next door (I don't remember the name) when I asked for a blanket, they brought a down filled comforter...had a big king bed in my room, I have stayed twice and enjoyed it and for a guy on a budget the savings on a room can be used somewhere else. I like to think of it this way...Tarntawan includes breakfast and BBB Inn includes a night with a guy.

Going to Bkk Nov 4th for a few days then Pattaya anyone going to be around?

Oz have you figured your dates?

Going to Cuba Oct 8th, anyone want to go, the place I stay at has 2 bedrooms, only 1 taken so far.

let me know

Floridarob:

Thanks for your reference to the BBB Inn. Because of your information I am thinking of staying there.

Can you tell me whether it is a true budget hotel? (i.e. noisy, unclean etc). I see from their (rather poor) website that they do "short term" lets (one hour). Having stayed in one of these places, elsewhere, I am pre-warned!

Secondly, what do you mean when you say "BBB Inn includes a night with a guy"? Is he thrown in?! A freebe?? Love to know.

Which brings me to my next point. Are all those "Bell Boys" whos photos are on the web site actually Escorts (Rent Boys, call them what you will)!

Another question, Massage Parlors and massage. Are all the Masseurs actually Escorts, Rent Boys... so difficult to fathom out when they use such inuendos as Relief, Special Sevices etc. etc. I hear that a lot of massage parlors dont do sex.

Thanks for any advice to a novice to the Bangkok scene.

In Thailand and in many other countries it is quite common for the locals themselves to call young males in their 20s and under, especially unmarried ones, "boys." Of course only a truly crude tourist would snap his fingers and call "boy," but as a simple descriptive it is quite the norm in Thailand. When my Thai boyfriend turned 30 he moaned that he was no longer a boy but was now an "old man."

No its not a sleazy by the hour hotel...I mean it can be if you want but its cool to stay overnight too, I have and am returning.

They don't through a boy in, I meant that with the difference in cost between there and Tarntawan (which is good too and not expensive) the difference in price equates to an overnight with a boy.

Maggage places listed on any gay sights like thaiboy.net or http://www.dreadedned.com the guys do have sex. Only a warning...they will say anything you want to get the business then once in the cabin they may not get hard sometimes or want to bottom (they will say, "oh, you too big"...know what I mean?

I am not shy and if they dont want to or cant do what we talked about , I say ok, bye bye and go pick someone else.

Rob,

I'll be there when you are. I plan to go over Nov 2 or 3 and stay for 2 months. I am not sure which city I stay at when. Normally, I stay in Bangkok for a bit and then move to Pattaya when I have recovered from the long trip. I have friends coming over the 2nd week of November for a bit. Hope you can stay longer there!

Help please!

Thinking of staying at the Tarntawan, but hear that there are two, the Tarntawan Place and the Tarntawan Ramada.

One doesnt welcome visitors and is some way from the Boystown.

Which one is the correct one?

Second question..I notice that flights are very cheap around the 11 November when I want to come. Only £418 from IK. Is there something I dont know about? Offseason?? Weather??

Thanks for any advice.

Go to: http://www.drededned.com and there is a link for the hotel there in the Bangkok section. It is a good site to see most gay areas and bars.

The prices around that time are reasonable. I am traveling there the first week of November and got a price of 1100 US for roundtrip. However, I can only come back on Dec. 23 or Jan 11 for that price. If I come back in between those dates, it jumps to 2100. So, those times are really peak times.

Novevember is a great time to be there and I am sure you will have a blast! There are several M4M'ers going to be there starting Nov 20.

Tarntawan Place is the gay-friendly hotel in Silom that receives the most mention. Tarntawan Ramada is almost directly across the street (Suriwongse Road). Both are very close to the gay bars of Silom/Patpong. (When one speaks of Boyztown in Thailand, one is usually referring to the gay bars of Pattayaland sois 1 and 3.) Tarntawan Place is very popular and it is a good idea to make your reservations as soon as possible.

Thailand's peak tourist season is in December and January and many Europeans travel to Thailand for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. That is probably why air fares go up for that period. It certainly is why hotel rates are at their highest.

I'd made plans to travel to THAILAND in December (the beginning of the high season) but have since changed my arrival month and dates; now I'm traveling during low season-- May 9, 2005 and beyond; I will be going back to Bangkok, Chang Mai, Phuket, and of course-- Pattaya.

After my Brasilian trip for a month which begins next week, I will have much tome to think and replan and get revved up for the "land of smiles."

Totally Oz

Thanks for the information.

"There are several M4M'ers going to be there starting Nov 20."

I will be in BKK from 23 November until 9 December, with a few days in the middle in Pattaya.

If you are coordinating a M4M get together please let me know by PM!

Thanks

Hello guys, I am new here :-)

I will be in Bangkok on November 26-29, 2004 and is planning to stay at Tawana Ramada. The lowest price that I found on the web is US$54 per night for single and/or double occupancy. Even though I am going there alone, I think I will book for double occupancy in case I need to bring a new friend for overnight ;)

Has anyone stayed at Tawana Ramada before? If so, please tell me your experiences with the hotel and ways to avoid "joiner fee" such as booked for double occupancy and so. I have stayed at Montien Hotel on last trip. I really didn't like the hotel except for its location and buffet breakfast. I booked for single occupancy and lucky for me that I wasn't charged a joiner fee when I brought a friend back for overnight. :p However, I later realized that Montien do charge the fee for BHT$950 or so!!

Thanks in advance for any advice and experience sharing :D

everyone I know that has stayed there had problems bringing someone to the room. They have someone guarding the elevators.

Why not stay across the street at the Tarntawan where there is no joiner fee and the price is like $60USD includes tax and B'fast for 2 either in restaurant or room service and it can be ANY time of the day.

Thank you, floridarob, for your response.

...man..guarding the elevators..sounds pretty bad to me. I will then reconsider :)

I am not sure if I want to stay at Tarntawan since the room rates are similar to other 3-4 stars hotels and I have to pay for using gym facilities which is not part of the hotel establishment....

Do you have other recommedations on hotels in that area? My budget is around US$50-US70 per night (depends on the hotel star rating).

Thank you :)
