Chile and Peru in Late 2007

If all goes as planned, I will be on a tour in the latter portion of 2007 (November). This tour will take me to Santiago, Chile and I think to Lima. Do any of you have any update information regarding the escort scene that exists in both areas?

 

I've checked the material in the archives at this site; I've gone to http://www.rentboy.com, http://www.escupido.com, http://www.erados.com, and a couple of other slightly obscure sites, but the pickings in these cities are rather, rather limited.

 

If all is lost in those two cities-- I'll wait until I return to Buenos Aires which is the last city visited in conjunction with this wonderful trip that I anticipate. In BA I shall break away from the tour group and extend my travels.

Chile is a socially very conservative country that has opened up in the since the late 90s. I was in Santiago a few years ago and there were several bathhouses and bars---there are a smattering of gay bars in smaller cities, as well. I've inquired in the more recent past, out of curiosity, and haven't heard anything about escorts.

 

All I know about Lima is that it is beginning to have a significant HIV problem among gay men, although it's barrelling out of control like Bangkok. New HIV epidemics among gay men seem to follow the loosening of social controls and the opening of venues like bathhouses and the like---above ground escorting seems to be part of this social shift, too, when it happens. If you speak Spanish of know someone who does, there might be sites for Peruvians that advertise escorts.

You may find working guys advertising on http://www.gaydar.co.uk They'll be in the regular listings because they can't afford to advertise in the paid commercial/escorts section. Just look for ads that offer "masaje" or perhaps have the word "acompañante" in it. Not to mention the use of dollar signs in the title or picture captions.

 

You may find escorts advertising in the classified sections of the larger newspapers, although you'll need to understand some Spanish to figure them out. Look for headings like "Relax" or "Acompañantes" or just "Otros" (other).
