I started to post this last night, but was so sad, I couldn't make it come out right.

I received an email telling me that Alexandre, the young man who had made my first trip to RIO so memorable, had been killed on January 30.

I have asked for more information, but in the mean time I mourn for his family and friends. I mourn for anyone who never met him. He was such a vibrant and alive young man with a smile that could dazzle.

I am so sad right now but I am thankful for the time I spent with him and my many wonderful memories of that trip.

I remember Alexandre very well and am very surprised and upset at the news. People here don't believe us when we say things like this, but I believe he was genuinely very attached to you, Jackhammer. Please let us know whatever details you can find out. As I remember, he had given up sauna work some time ago and was working as a nurse. He was one of the rare boys to be totally up-front about being gay, all in all a beautiful, wonderful person. SF Traveler

Sad news indeed. I remember your posts on him, and how he took care of you when you were sick. Best wishes, jack, to you and his family.

Jack,

I'm so sorry to hear you've lost someone close to you. It's tough to lose a friend at any age, but even tougher, if that's possible, when they're still young and full of promise. My thoughts are with you.

Jackhammer, I, too, am saddened to hear about Alex's death, for he was in my life too for some hours when you introduced him to us in the restaurant at The Atlantico Hotel, on the boat cruise sponsored by Carlo, and that evening when Alex wanted to come to the rescue of the two guys from Florida whom you had invited to join us for dinner and later at Le Boy. I keenly remember that Alex really wanted to show all of us this place and his dancing skills, for as you wrote, he was indeed quite "vibrant and alive..."

I inadvertentely ran into Alex last October while I sat outside of Maxim's having lunch. I vividly recall his turning around and waving back at me after I'd yelled his name and he was a slight distance away.

Alex will be sorely missed, and Jackhammer I extend my utmost condolences to you, his family, and to his friends! Edd/Axiom

my thoughts and prayers are with you and Alex tonight.

Jackhammer,

I just saw your posting and am so sorry to hear the news. I remember the birthday party in your room at the Atlantico and the good times you were having with Alex during your entire Rio trip.

Life can be so short. Enjoy it while you can.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, Jack. I know what you are going through only too well. Can you possibly post a picture of this young man for those of us not fortunate enough to have experienced his special light?

My first trip

I cannot bring myself to post a pic, however this is the link to my on line journal from the first trip.

If you work through the original thread, you will find pics.

The events surrounding his death are too gruesome to relate here and I will not be posting them.

Thanks for your thoughts.

RE: My first trip

You should have stopped while you were ahead, so we'll make that happen.

This is crazy....

Jack, there aren't words to express my sorrow.

Be well, pal. All wounds heal, but this one may take a while. Your friends will be there for you.

RE: My first trip

This is crazy - I tried to post this before but Deej decided to delete my post.

How can everyone jump on the bandwagon of this "sympathy post" -

"He certainly left a legacy..."

"I remember fondly the time at the hotel..."

The guy was a Brazilian hustler - who made you feel like he loved you....had the cash dried up he would have been gone with the proverbial wind.

Wise up. When you really lose someone that matters in your life you won't post on an escort site to get sympathy.:+

I saw your original post before it was deleted by Deej. I am pleased that it was deleted because it was more hateful than the replacement posting you just made.

Firstly, not "everyone" jumped "on a bandwagon" to offer sympathy for the guy who was killed. I feel certain that many readers read Jack's post and did not respond with sympathy, although they may have felt sad over such a tragedy.

Secondly, why does it matter that "the guy was a Brazilian hustler?" The guy was a human being who was liked and known by several readers of this board? Because the guy was a hustler, does it make you feel good to "trash" him?

Thirdly, yes, had the cash dried up, he probably would not have been with Jack as long as he was. However, as in any business situation, money is an important element. The difference in this case is that money was not the sole element for the friendship. If the guy did not like Jack, the guy could have looked for and found a replacement for Jack, but the guy chose to remain with Jack because they got along so well.

Lastly, Jack did not post on this "escort site to get sympathy." Jack posted here to express his sadness at the terrible event that occurred and also to apprise other readers who also knew the guy that he was gone.

Every now and again, (fortunately not very often) this board receives nasty and mean postings; your posting falls within this category. Shame on you!

Who is the sorry one

I know my friends will be disappointed that I took your bait, but as I read your post, I couldn't help but think how sorry I feel for you. It speaks volumes to me that you have disabled your profile so that I could not convey my sympathy to you privately instead of in this forum.

Since you clearly didn't read anything from my first trip, you couldn't possibly know that money became a non issue about halfway through my visit. Alex would no longer take money from me after about the fourth day. I don't have to pretend there was a connection, and there are many who witnessed his real affection toward me and mine for him. The reason I was notified about his murder is because he talked about me in loving terms with his family so often, that they felt I should know.

The purpose of this thread was not to get sympathy for me, and your inference that is was is so misguided as to border on pathetic.

In the end, this thread has become a sympathy thread for you since you clearly don't have a clue as to what can constitute a real connection with another person.

After all is said and done, Alexandre will be remembered not because he was a good hustler, but because he was a really good guy.

RE: Who is the sorry one

Jackhammer's had the last word here. I'm locking this thread. Mocking someone's grief, for any reason, is beyond the pale. No more of that on this board, OK?
