Decided to head for Club 117 yesterday afternoon. Had a nice interlude (with included excellent massage) with Paulo, a very handsome and sweet guy from Recife. Followed that up with a "programa" with Alan, a slender guy in a baseball cap with a very impressive credential. Alan also was fun. Maybe it was me, or maybe it was the post-New Year's slump, but it seemed to me that the guys (at least some of them) were hungrier and more aggressive than usual. I kind of got cornered by three of them shortly after I arrived and was rapidly getting out of the mood when I was rescued by Paulo. One of the guys who was all over me was the rather obnoxious Robson, who maneuvered me into a cabine last year, much to my regret. He's a skinny, light-skinned guy who'll be all over you, but promises much more than he delivers. Have I been in Paradise too long? ;)

Ran into one of the visiting Torontonians while there, just as I was heading for a cabine with Paulo. T. and J., in case we cross tracks before you head back for T.O., please e-mail me directly at trilingual1946@yahoo.com I'm hoping to make it to T.O. for the first time in years sometime in the late summer or early fall and it'd be fun to have somebody to hang out with (everyone else I know in T.O. is of the straight persuasion)!

After the baths, I headed for Maxim's where I was to meet Ernani and some visiting friends of his. Ernani has been a busy, busy boy this week, so this was the first chance we had to actually get together since I've been here. During the cab ride from 117 back to Copacabana the heavens finally opened up (it had been stiflingly hot all day long) so we all had to huddle in the inside section of the restaurant to avoid the downpour. The place was packed with a number of Ernani's other foreign admirers! With Ernani was his friend Leo, a handsome and very well built Afro-Brazilian kid (also reviewed under the Rio escorts, I beliee). We ended up hanging out for quite a while waiting for the rain to abate. We had a great gossip and catch up, so now I'm up-to-date. In addition to the videos Ernani made while on his trip to the U.S., he's also supposed to be appearing in Latin Inches. Leo did a shoot either for Inches or Black Inches, so keep an eye out for him in one of those magazines.

Meanwhile, it's nap time in the tropics. Gotta get ready to go out with some friends later this evening. Oh, by the way, I saw an ad for the impending new sauna in "O Grito," one of the local bar rags, and it looks like the new name will be "Point 202" (based on its address, r. Siqueira Campos, 202). Still no definite opening date, but the new subway station is supposed to open February 2nd or 3rd.

A close friend from NY joined me on Saturday, so we've been sightseeing and trashing. We did 117 Sunday evening. It was a bit odd, not as many guys, it seemed, and more clients. Mostly I was unimpressed with the guys available that night, but eventually was seduced by Cristiano, a tall, extremely cute kid who had earlier done one of the strip shows. Cristiano is merely "normal" in the size department, but very affectionate and demonstrative in bed, and an excellent and enthusiastic kisser.

My friend ran into some overcharging problems, which we got straightened out with some mediation from the front desk. My friend doesn't speak Portuguese, but (intrepid traveler that he is) picked a guy and went upstairs with him without using yours truly as a translator. However, this isn't his first trip to Brazil, so he was expecting to pay R$50 for a roll in the hay, and was adamant that he wasn't going to pay the R$100 asked for after the fact, especially when it hadn't been a satisfactory encounter (the boy had evidently barely finished with another client before hooking up with my friend and was having erection problems, etc.). The fellow staffing the front desk concurred that the standard price was R$50, and we had a discussion with the boy about the fact that he's free to charge whatever he wants, of course, but if he wants more than the standard R$50 he needs to be clear and upfront with the client before hand. In this case, the perpetrator was the apparently famous Welington, mentioned in a recent review of the saunas as having one of the biggest dicks in captivity (confirmed by my friend) and who has perhaps let that go to his head. During this conversation, Welington tried to convince us that the guys all had different prices, and gestured to a tall, very handsome somewhat Italian-looking man who has been there every time I visited on this trip. Welington claimed that this specimen charges R$650!!! Well, even if he was G-d, he wouldn't be worth that, and another client on a previous evening had said that this hunk, although very attractive, didn't do much in bed. Anyway, we worked things out with Welington with R$50 plus a R$10 tip, and I think he got the message he wasn't going to get a lot of support from the front desk for this stunt.

Speaking of which, during the discussion the guy at the front desk pointed to a "Code of Ethics" (in Portuguese) posted at the entrance to the desk area, that sets out the expected rules of behavior for the guys, including such things as not charging for chatting-up time, not pestering the clients for food, drinks, entrance fees, etc. As other posters have mentioned, price lists are available at the desk at Roger's and Estaçao (sorry, the tilde key isn't working on this keyboard) for visiting foreigners, showing that R$50 is the standard price for an encounter, and at Estaçao they've clamped down on the charging system at the bar: NO drinks sold to the guys on another person's locker number unless the client is personally present, orders the item, and shows the locker key directly to the bar tender! Obviously, customer pressure on these issues is having a positive effect on cleaning up some of the earlier problems.

The rains finally arrived, and it's been gray and rainy/drizzly yesterday and today. I think we're going to explore the new shopping center in Botafogo and perhaps check out the scene at the nearby active porno theater (amazing it's still there, as Botafogo's waterfront drive is high-priced commercial real estate). Then perhaps a visit to Estaçao. Tomorrow we fly to Salvador and new adventures!

I found 117 to be quite on Sundays too. I thought maybe the boys had to go home for Sunday dinner but that didn't explain why Estacion could be busy on Sundays.

I'm pleased Estacion have changed their procedures at the bar given my friends experience there. I shall look out for this code of practice at 117 next time i'm there.

Hey, Trilingual. It was great to meet you. That night at the Maxim´s Restaurant was very funny during the heavy rain. Lots of guys packed in the inner section of the Restaurant and lots of action in the Bathroom. Did you realize how many people went after me when I went to the toilet? Likely they wanted to see my big tool in a 3-D vision, since they must have seen my dick circulating in the web, mags and movies.

I´m waiting to see you down here again ( in February )and I will show you another cruising place you still don´t know. (A free tour guide;-))

Ernani, someplace I don't know? That would be fun! But it won't be February; I'm not returning until March 21st. As for the john at Maxim's that night, I didn't use it, but I certainly noticed the parade following you and Leo into it whenever you guys needed to powder your noses. . .

The rainy, dreary weather continued yesterday, so my friend and I went off to the fairly new Praia Botafogo Shopping Center, where we decided to have lunch. We enjoyed our experience at the Emporium restaurant upstairs, but there's also a food court with balcony one more flight up, with a billion dollar view of Sugar Loaf and Botafogo Bay. From there we decided to check out the cruisy Scala theater down the street. It was definitely busy, and getting somewhat busier, around 6:00 p.m., and my friend had a mini-adventure in the men's room, but I wasn't having much luck, so we went home to refresh briefly and then headed to Estação. Again, it seemed to be a night of many boys and relatively few clients, so the guys were acting kind of hungry. Eventually my friend went off with one of the less aggressive ones, and he had a good time, but there was a bit of a contretemps about the price: the young gentlemen was under the impression that my friend owed him R$150!!! We had a little chat in Portuguese that went something along the lines of: "The fee is 150 reais? On what planet? Because on this one the price is R$50!!! You already got more than R$50 (my friend had tipped generously because he'd enjoyed himself) and you really shouldn't go around trying to take advantage of the tourists, because if you do they'll never come back." That seemed to be the end of the story, after a sheepish smile from the overeager young man.

Yours truly was thinking about a farewell rendevouz with Rayan, but he carelessly had hooked up with another client who was monopolizing his time chatting and chatting and chatting. Meanwhile, along came Marcelo, with a fine, fine build and a very, very impressive credential. We repaired to a "cabine" for a satisfying interlude, including many creative and helpful positions, serious kissing, and a very useful chat afterwards about Brazilian cell phone plans! :-) For when I get my own cell phone in Brazil. . .

We arrived this afternoon in Salvador, which has grown enormously since my last visit here. We trekked down to the Pelourinho for an initial look around (again, compared to my last visit here in the latge '80s, it's been very much renovated and rejuvenated) and dinner at the Senac restaurant (the one with the buffet of 40 typical Bahian dishes and the staff of extremely cute trainee waiters). Reports on the baths will have to wait; we were up pretty late last night and up early this morning to clear out of Odilo's apartment and get to the airport, so it's going to be an early night for the intrepid travelers. As soon as we plunge into Salvador nightlife, I'll report back. . .

Onward. . .

This is a really stupid question but still need to know. How do you know all these guys names? Do they wear name tags? Picture Badges or just from the many visits. Was just wondering. Was in Rio many years ago in the US Navy unfortunately at the time didnt know of all this fun. Think I got stuck going to a tittie bar with some guys. Oh well. Need to come back and see the sites and yes the guys. HUGS Chuck

>Do they wear name tags?

They wear a towel (but not always), a pair of flipflops (always), and a nifty elastic bracelet. That's is! }(

Most of them are good at chatting up the customer and want to be sure we know their names for future business.
