Well I was there in August for three nights only but now I am going back and have wangled 15 nights. I have posted my previous trip under Rio 29th August - 31st August who else will be there. its about page 3 at the moment.

When I only had three nights i spent most of my evening time in the saunas and apart from maxims did not venture to far out. It was regretable but understandable given the limited amount of time.

My objectives this time are:

[1] to get as much time on the beach as I can for a tan and relaxation - late mornings to mid afternoon

[2] to tour a favela

[3] to tour the big park nearby that has a rainforest feel to it

[4] to see the old town in centro district

[5] to spend more time in Estacio and not get driven off so early by any bad experiences [and find the twins]

[6] to actually find rogers this time [and maybe Yan]

[7] to try spa 73

[8] to shag a soldier

[9] to have my first threesome

[10]to watch one guy have sex with the other (is this a bit pervvy?)

[11] to go to some clubs and different restauarants (with or without company)

[12]to take a guy back to the hotel for a night [or two]

[13]to spend time with Louis my new friend from Washington

[14]to meet other guys from here to put names on faces

[15]hmm bound to be something i have forgotten but a good starting list

I will update this thread as each day passes (damn that was it)

[15] to update this thread each day whilst memory is fresh and answer any questions posted

[16] hmm bound to be something else i have forgotten.

My flight is with Iberia booked through OPODO and is £427 via Madrid.

I have specified a low fat meal on the flights so that the meal is fresher and gets served first (nothing worse than starving watching two hundred people get their dinner before you)

I am staying at Hotel: Atlantico Copacabana but I suspect i have not got such a good as deal as TomCal (Louis is staying there as well when he arrives but i gather he is going to Sao Paulo as well)

well thats it for now - next substantive post in about 18 hours time and 6000 miles away yippee!!!!!!!!!!

Driver, enjoy yourself in the land of the Cariocas!! Might I suggest that for your favela tour-- seek out the services of Marcello Armstrong who started this venture; his tele. number is: 3322-2727 or 9989-0074. ...obtained this info from LONELY PLANET, a sound reference guide. He, himself, did not lead the tour that day; his assistant Alfredo did. All in all it was an enlightening experience, but if you get the tour with Marcello, do it!

Perhaps you can contact Ernani to see if he would guide you through the Centro of Rio; he told me that he lived in that area, but he did not take me to where he lived (which is very ok-- I can respect this.) I can't seem to locate his cell number; my study and "stuff" I took on the trip are in dire disarray right now. But you can obtain it from "Escorts Review"...

<bound to be something but a good starting list>

Driver, I found your list interesting as well as enticing, especially your wanting to be a voyeur and your wanting to get with a strong, virile military man......that's boiling and scorching......:9

Well where to start . . .

I arived at 3 hours ahead of time at Heathrow to be told my first flight would be delayed and would miss my second flight from Madrid to Rio. No matter they can put me on an earlier flight which leaves in 55 minutes!

No duty free shopping then - not too much of a loss as Heathrow is expensive anyways.

Get on the plane and guess what - it was fairly full so they had to put me business class WOOHOO

Would sir like a glass of cava? - yes he bloody well would. Well 4 glasses later and a baileys I was watching the reddest sunset ive ever seen over some spanish mountains with towns lit up all golden

Yes you've guessed it - I was having a "moment"

Mind you it stuck me with 5 hours in madrid that were boring.

The flight from madrid was an hour late and it seems to me that there were more taxi drivers trying to grab you when you got out of customs than last time. The desk clcerk outside who co-ordinates taxis does not give vouchers as one site reports but you pay the driver direct. I was told 47R$ but the driver gave change for 48R$ out of 50 so i didnt tip him - i needed the 2$ for the bellboy.

its seems brazil is voting today though i have seen no obvious signs of it. The room is nice its on the 12th floor and faces a building site LOL

Im going to have a light dy today - wander to the beach and maxims for lunch - then either 117 or rogers for later followed maybe with that restaurant with jabba in it.

I havnt mentioned to the desk clerk yet i might be bringing guests back - how do you phrase that?

Why has no one mentioned you have to hammer the keyboard in the hotel lobby to make it come out ok?

If anyone else uses it today and can smell coconut oil - sorry that was me.

although i was excited about my going to brasil before i went (and i was excited when i was actually there, i should still be there if i'd stuck to my initial itinerary--. i am immeasurably, overly excited now whenever i read posts from guys who are presently there.

...about the taxis at the airport-- when i left customs i went into the main arena and spotted all of those men in grey taxi uniforms-- a woman in a booth across the way called out to me-- senor-- i went over and made arrangements (R$35 or R$43-- i can't remember-- i received a plastic card which resembled a credit card and was escorted out to a taxi where i was greeted in english and whisked away by the lady--. upon safely arriving at the hotel atlantico, i gave her either R$5 or R$7; if this is not the norm i did not much care at that point. i had made it.

i can't answer your question about having guys arrive. i waited for my guest, and he and i went to my room for some naked fun. when ernani arrived-- he called, and i went to the lobby and got him. when he returned again, i just had him come to my room.

Oh, to be in Rio today as I was suppose to be if I'd stuck with my plan. I will go again!

lastly, driver-- make the best of your experience, man! i envy you but in the MOST positive way. i am such a fool for not "sticking" it out, but i think this will be my last apology to self. Obrigado! Ciao! Thanks! Axiom PS BE SAFE! Use your "mother senses"/"mother wit" as those who reared me said constantly. (i liked typing in the lower case. it is oh so much easier. i didn't use the net in the lobby at the hotel, so i didn't get the experience of keys sticking.

No sign of any elections? I am going to have to revise that - the 100 armed militia 3 blocks down were a clue not to mention not being able to get my kaiprahinas at maxims for some obscure reason. (not sure what a high five was but i declined).

I went to the rainbow kiosk o the beach and had a nice time there for a couple of hours- the weather was fine and it was full of locals and lots of people trying to sell stuff.

VIAGRA - yes I went into the first drugs store i saw and bought 8 capsules (50mg) for 162$R which is about $4.50 each.

It's always possible that they've changed the airport taxi system, but until now the drill has been that you pay at the booth in the arrivals hall, where you receive a voucher/receipt you give to one of the drivers of the white radio-taxis. R$47 sounds a bit expensive, but fares just went up in the last couple of weeks, so that's probably the current fare.

Election Day is "dry" in Brazil, which explains any problems in buying an alcoholic beverage today. The election is over (Lula won by a huge landslide) and you'll be able to get whatever you want from now on.

Well it turns out that the waiter wasn't offering me a high-5 at maxims he was trying to tell me "after 5" for a drink.

I know it was early but i figured i wouldn't last all day due to the flights so i went to Rogers as it opened. It was easy to find this time and they had decorated it for halloween. There were five guys there including a very good looking Andre but having been burnt before on the good looking ones i declined their initial advances. Its possible that with my body langauage and the fact i didn't look like it was all new to me that they realised no really did mean no so they didn't pester me. Some 2 hours later and no other guy arrived so i left. The owner looked a little concerned and he met me before i left and shook my hand and andre came and said goodbye - i had spent some money behind the bar so it wasnt all doom and gloom for them. (a fact i would regret later)

117 had many more boys there though initially only a few stood out - i got chatting to a guy from virginia and we surveyed the boys together - anderson was there and seemed very busy - he also did a strip. My washington guy was trying to decide between two guys when one of them came back with "his cousin" who was 21 and very cute. I had made my choice it would be this cute guy.

Unfortunately my friend had also made his choice and he was going to have both the cousins LOL They (the cousins} asked if i wanted a foursome and i declined.

When he came back (my viginia friend) he said neither of them could get hard though the older of the two did try hard. (my memory of the evening is starting to get get a bit fuzzy by now ) The younger guy heard this and suggested to me it would be different for me.

Anyways i wassed a bit drunk by then so decided to get changed - when i was dressed i came across a nice guy called Alan with a baseball cap - and we got a cabine - he needed to shower and did so. I seem to remember enjoying myself so i sall have to try him again.

I ate at the jabba restaurant but it was about 9pm so not the nightlife others have reported but it was busy and my fish dish was nice. Eventually got back to my room and went to sleep (or passed out more likely)

Middle of the night discovered i did not pack any painkillers DOH

Now don't despair, i know my posts are lacking the details you guys look for here and i promise to dedicate myself fully to do more boys record more names and supply more details for you guys.

Today my first full day I shall go get a snack to eat, get some painkillers (headache is duled now), go to the beach then maybe estacio then maybe a bar or restaurant.

If you use the keyboard in the atlantico lobby you must check what you type. I nearly left you with the impression i was going to eat a snake. hmm maybe thats not sofar from the truth.

I was only going to post once per day but i suspect some detail will be lost if i do that - i apologise therefore if this thread becomes large due to numerous smaller posts. Mind you as the days go by i'm sure i will restrict myself to the salient facts (or gory details).

I bought my painkillers and settled down on the beach - i must be slowing down my pace as i spent 4 hours there which were very pleasurable. I hired an umbrella though becuase im not too used to the sun and do not want to burn - even though i still have some very pink bits so it isnt cutting out all the uv rays. I wanted to buy some sunglasses but am wary of buying them from the beach in case the protecion is not as good. Its amazing what you can buy there - one guy had a mini bar-b-q

I suspect i am not giving out the right signals - even though i was there for 4 hours no boys approached me- maybe i was too close to the flag or not drooling enough - or maybe they were not available. Not though that i was necessaily available but it would have been nice to have been chased a little.

I thought the relaxation mite clear the fog from last nights memories but it did not - my good sex with alan remains a blank spot except i seem to remember he stimulated my prostate with his finger the dirty little sod. - you wait til i see him again!

The sun does go down early on copacobana beach and it starts to cool slightly - though still very pleasant to me - by 4:00 pm i decided to go to maxims to get a bite to eat. They do a nice grilled crab and potatoe starter and i followed it with pork medallions cooked on the skewer with greek rice. Their descriptions in the menu can be amusing and some bad spelling errors (although when i read what i typed i also found some spelling erors in my text including "grilled CRAP with greek rice"). One of the beach lads scouted me out and when i didnt call him over he bought some more scouting time by pretending to use the payphone next to maxims. Well if he ignored me on the beach i would be buggered if he was going to join me at the table.

I'm not sure why the waiters are so competative - its annoying to be called to several tables by them at the same time. One guy took my starter order and another my drinks - when i was asked what i wanted to eat i told them my main meal but explained that chef was probably cooking my starter already and that i didnt want 2 starters the same turning up. Well fuck knows what he thought i said but clearly he thinks my name is chef now and continued to call me chef for the next hour. (and probably the next 2 weeks).

More annoyingly he said at the end i should come back tonight to maxims for good food - a blatent attempt to get my trade which i resented - i said maybe. I dont like being told where i should or should not eat.

Lastly who was that american eating with ermani in maxims i wonder? he was with another brazillian as well - a cute guy with a gap in his two front teeth? - anyone here willing to own up? (you know you always get found out so fess up guys)

More later when i have been to estacio (well thats the plan)

Well, driver, I am enjoying your story; you write what you want; write what you think we readers can relate. There is no contest here, dear!:-)

How many of your objectives have come into fruition thus far? Also, I remember that Andre and Anderson from 117 both receiving glowing remarks from some of their previous conquests from this board.

Although I missed out on 117 during my first (infancy) trip to Rio, it's on my "places to go" along with the saunas in Salvador and Sao Paulo when I see myself in "paradise" during my second trip.

On returning to the room i discovered i was starting to glow very pink and was a bit sore in places due to the sun - sunbathing tommorrow is out of the question if i am not to turn into a lobster so i think i will go to the fort.

Well i have been very good in one sense of the word and very very naughty in another sense. I had a nice beer in my room and then wandered to estacio. The first signs were not good in that the first two guys i fancied were the very two that i had bad experiences with the first time i visited in august. One was armee or olney. Fortunateley there was a few clients (about 10) and about 20-25 boys so there was not as much pressure as last time.

I waited about an hour when an american i saw at 117 the night before came in - i wont describe him as he asked me not to but his first visit was last may and i discovered that he has met tomcal. He asked me about dalton and i said i had read about him but did not know who he was or whether he was in tonight. The american had been to spa 73 and he told me it had european looking guys in their early twenties there . I think he had been despunked there because of a remark he made later that evening. He then introduced me to Kevin - the guy that someone said could get funky if caught too late. He was quite cute and i discovered he was versatile. Bearing in mind i had nearly left without hiring a guy i decided to take a previous posters advice and asked kevin who would he like to fuck. Well he spoke some english but it took 10 minutes get him to understand that he had to choose the other guy. well he knew straight away who to choose, a guy whos name sounded like honario. He was a young guy slighty darker skinned with black hair and an attractive face and about 8" in length. I made it clear to both of them that kevin would at some stage fuck honario and they understood that. Now remember im a little bit sore to touch so frankly if they wanted to spend time on each other that was fine with me. It was enjoyable and eventually kevin did fuck honario but i suspect the orgasm was slightly hammy. I wanted honario to cum but kevin briefly thought i accused him (kevin) of not comming - he was slightly indignant until he realised i was saying something else - it was maybe a flash of what others have seen in him. Anyways honario obliges me by comming over my chest and a nice amount too. Probably not the best of threesomes but i enjoyed it esp being so close to kevin as he fucked the guy. (and it was my first)

Oh dear, this is where i will get into trouble. My american friend who wants to be nameless suddenly remarks to me the irony of guess who turning up. DALTON.

it seems he has escaped his handcuffs and has been set back into the wild by tomcal . The only reason the american who i was talking to didnt go with him is that he had been busy earlier in spa73 (which is why i think he had been despunked). he could not believe the guy turns up after mentioning him. well dalton has a lovely face and is muscular guy. A bit too muscly for my normal tastes but given the cicumstances i could not resist being mischevious so we went upstairs. There was no way he was going to fuck me with that weapon - at least not that night but i had a nice hour cuddling kissing etc. at one point i sat on him and massged his back with oil which was very horny.at the end of the hour i went downstairs only to discover we had been together 2 and a half hours LOL. The place was nearly empty.

I went to pay and this is where things got interesting. my credit card was not accepted by the saunas machine. ok so i paid in cash. but it seems after 10:00pm you cannot get money out a cash machine even if it says 24hrs which i have never heard of before. i had enough money on me for a meal for us both but it was embarrassing nonetheless to be told your card had not been authorised. i wouldnt mind but that card was in credit ie they had some of my money on that account.

Dalton and I spoke a little during the meal and i have arranged to meet him tommorrow at my hotel - i think i will feed him and maybe go out to a club then im sure he will end up staying the night.

I wont have him every night as i want to samle other delights but he is nice company so now and again maybe. I told him he haas to shave though - those bristtles on my sunburn were painful.

ATMs: The round-the-clock hours were cut back during the energy shortage last year. Even though power rationing ended, the shorter ATM hours stayed in effect as a crime-cutting/security measure. There is apparently a sprinkling of machines that continue to operate 24 hours, but you need to know where they're located. Your hotel desk can probably tell you. But you're better off getting your cash during the day.

It's always a good idea to have a couple of different credit cards with you. I don't know why things sometimes get screwy when you're abroad, but I've also had occasions when a perfectly good card was turned down when I was out of the country. It's very frustrating! But if one card was weird, the other one would work OK. Another of the great mysteries of modern life. . .

Last night in bed a few more thoughts occured to me.

Firstly during Dalton and my meal last night which was at La manga i believe, i ordered a beef kebob (their spelling) with black pepper sauce, they must have thought i wanted peppared steak because thats what i got. Dalton had what looked like fillets of beef with greek rice. It came to 53 real including his orange juice and my kaiparhina (hmm not sure of that spelling)

He told me about his family and how 3 years ago he was so poor he would not eat some days. The left over food he had put in boxes and afterwards he said he was going to hand it to the poor on the streets which i did not realise some brazillians did - sort of doggy bags for the poor. It made me wish i had left more food.

At le boy it seems the boys are on a rota as it would be 20 days before Dalton would dance again there. Conversation was a struglle and today i will keep an eye out for an electronic translator.

The desk clerk at the hotel last night told me the cash machines would not work after 10pm becuase some thiefs were watching them to rob tourists so as a precaution you could not use them. Given my card was declined at estacio the night before money became a priority for this morning.

The desk clerk also said in reply to my question, if i want to register an extra guest for a night it was not necessary to adjust my bill at the end of the stay (i had a double with single occupency) all i had to do was tip the desk clerk $R10. This was a useful piece of information as i suspect Dalton will be staying tonight.

I thought my airconditioning unit was noisy but i realised last night it was the sound of the builing works 12 floors below me coming through the airconditioning. be sure to ask for a quieter room if that will be a problem for you. the works stopped about 7pm roughly.

In estacio last night i did not see the twins but you will be pleased to note that the porn they showed was gay porn and not straight which i know was a bugbear for some people here.

Well becuase of my pink torso i have covered up today and am heading for the fort at the ipenama end of copacabana. who knows maybe another of my objectives may get ticked off this morning.

Guest Tomcal_

I found a nother ATM that works with any American atm/credit card near Blockbusters' On Sunday, the election day and my last day in Rio, Dalton and I were walking around and I realized i would need some more cash so went into Blockbusters (Copacabana and Magdalaha(sp)

and the Citi bank machines weren't working!! I had a suana to visit yet on my last day and Dalton was spending the evening until i left, i needed cash! If you walk out the door of Blockbusters and turn right - heading north on Copacabana, go about 100 ft or so, there is a branch of HCBS (or some combination of those letters) they have a bank of ATM's and unlike many in Rio, but like the ones at Blockbusters they have English instructions and my ATM cards worked there. BTW, on election day, they can't serve alcohol supposedly, but what they do is serve it to you in a opaque plastic glass! We were at Corujo on Sat. night and after Midnight, officially election day, they switched everyone to Plastic glasses!!

I've also had good luck with HSBC ATMs. Keep them in mind, because HSBC has many more branches than Citibank, and not just in Rio. They have a large consumer banking operation throughout Brazil (also in Argentina). HSBC also seems to have a lot of free-standing ATM kiosks in shopping malls, and I've been able to use those successfully in places like Belo Horizonte.

Citibank doesn't have many branches because in the past they focused on the higher end of the local market. However, I've seen some articles in the Brazilian press suggesting that Citibank is looking into a takeover of a large Brazilian consumer bank in order to greatly expand its presence. If I were a bank (don't I wish!) I'd be thinking of doing the same thing. There may be some short term bumps ahead, but in the long term I don't think Brazil has anywhere to go but up! In any case, Citibank usually has ATMs at the big airports, in some of the Blockbusters, and a few other convenient locations. For travelers to São Paulo, there's a branch downtown on Av. São João at the corner of Av. Ipiranga (for some reason an extremely famous intersection in Brazil) which is just a block or so from the Praça da República, where there's also an HSBC branch. There's also a Citibank branch conveniently located along your route from the Santa Cruz metro station to that motherlode of Brazilian saunas, the incomparable Lagoa.

Banco do Brasil is the state-owned national bank and it has branches virtually everywhere, even in the smallest towns. Its ATMs are frustrating because there's usually only one or two machines at a branch that are connected to the international network, if any, and it's sometimes a guessing game to figure out which is the machine that's linked, if they do have one! However, if you have a Visa/MasterCard debit card, you can usually get an "advance" (actually a withdrawal) inside the bank even if the branch doesn't have an internationally-linked ATM. This will require some babbling in Portuguese on your part, but if you approach a manager-looking person with your card in your hand and say "Por favor, preciso tirar dinheiro," that should get you started. The rest you can probably do just by writing down the amount you want to withdraw (in reais). You should have your passport (or a copy of it) with you when you do this, because you'll probably be asked for ID. Keep Banco do Brasil in mind if you plan to do any traveling in Brazil, particularly to small places like Parati where BB may be the only game in town. This is also useful to know if you ever find yourself with inoperable airport ATMs upon arrival in Brazil (I ran into this in SP). Banco do Brasil has branches in the big international airports that are open very late, possibly even 24 hours, and you can make a withdrawal there. In the Rio and SP airports the bank branches are on the upper floors where the shops and restaurants are located. Just ask someone for the Banco do Brasil.

P.S. Bradesco is the largest commercial bank in Brazil, with lots of branches and ATMs. I've been able to use my card at some of their ATMs, like at the airport and shopping malls, although I haven't done that very frequently. Other travelers have commented on being able to use their ATMs successfully, so give them a try, too. The more options, the better, and Bradesco is almost as ubiquitous as Banco do Brasil. Itaú is the other huge commercial bank, but I haven't had much experience using their machines, except at big airports. They do have a branch in Rio on Av. Atlântica, on the corner to the right of the Copacabana Palace (as you're facing the hotel entrance) which has an internationally-linked ATM.

Well HSBC (hong Kong and shanghai banking corporation) is my home town bank in england but this card was not issued by them. No matter the blockbusters machine was open today.

Now in Star Trek III Uhura says "be careful what you wish for - you may get it" The two times i arrived at the airport and eventually found the atm connected to the international lines - it spewed R$50 notes which was a bit awkward as you also need plenty of R$1's and R$5's - it was the case that every time i gave a R$50, any 1s or 5s i would squirrel away for later.

Well when i got to blockbusters i went to the other machinehat was international and inserted my card - it would only let me have R$400 and it all came out in R$10 notes - there were so many it nearly jammed. SO i put my card in again and took out another R$400. This was ridiculous R$800 all in 10s. I asked the person on the other machine if it had larger notes and he told me it had a different limit of R$1000 and had 50's in it DOH

SO i went on that machine and took out R$1000. The machine tells you it is issueing american dollars but the recept makes it clear they are brazillian dollars. A nice touch is you see the exchange rate on it which i dont normally on machine when i use my english card.

I went to the fort but it was 30 degrees hot. I felt sorry for the soldiers whitewashing the paving stones.

"Hey is that a gun in your pocket or are you just pleased to . . .oh its a gun."

Its nice that you can just order a squash and its made for you using local fruits whilst you wait - i had a bomba tropical. Fuck knows what it had in it but it was nice.

I am instructed to bring back a soccer shirt for a 10 yr old boy but am struggling with the brazillian sizes - any help would be appreciated.

Lastly i should have invited Dalton out today rather than meeting him later. it has left a 3 hour gap before a reasonable eating time. so i guess i will have to fill it with sex. i plan to eat about nine and maybe go to a bar with him in ipamena. (its a shame really because 117 will be busy tonight with free cabines drawing in the locals).

then maybe a late drink at jabbas bar or maxims and back to the hotel.

My gut feeling is it is not polite to take a boy from one sauna to another - even though you pay i think its best he has your sole attention for that time. More later on our evening.

This keyboard is a joke - i might buy a new one for them.

Driver... what a refreshing poster you are. Your diary makes a very good read. It's so nice to read an account without sex, sex, sex, more sex, sex, sex, sex, more sex, sex, sex... etc. Although you do mention a few tristes, I think your experiences will help some fellow travellers.

BTW... I love how you refer to that awful restaurant at the "Jabba Restaurant" ROTFLMAO!!! Have you seen him yet? OMG... you will die.

Anyone who has been reading this Board KNOWS which American traveller you are talking about! LOL. He's definitely not shy in posting... why does he not want you to reveal his identity. Hmmmmmm. Inquiring minds want to know. I'm not shy... I will always tell it like it is... if I don't like something, honey, I will say it!! Perhaps he's shy that he's a TomCal-Ho, Jr.?? LOL

I've heard thru the grapevine that the twins may have semi-retired with a generous client/friend. If so, good for them... I will miss them, but maybe it's time for them to move on. Can anyone verify this? Driver... have you seen them??

Alas, it is true! - Or at least mostly true. Coco, who turns out to be a really sweet man and who loves the twins hopefully not tooo much, has taken them under his wing in an apartment in Rio. I happen to like the brothers a lot and always felt they were not just great fun, but also genuine. They seem to be proving that out. There is absolutely no sign that they are taking ANY advantage of Coco and it seems to be a very mutually rewarding relationship. They may or may not appear occasionally but only when Coco is out of town.

One more thought on the ATMs which can be very fickle in Rio. The usually reliable Citibank in Blockbusters at Copacabana and Figueroda de something often runs out of cash especially later in the weekend in season (now through Feb-Mar). Itau Bank which has been reliable in the past for my ATM card was "temporarily not accepting international cards" this visit. So don't let yourself run too low on Reals, especially on weekends.

Thanks for the good read, driver! When I was in Rio earlier this month, I went to Estacao on a Thursday night; there was no sign of the twins; also no one has mentioned them until you did yesterday, so I guess after reading what I've read today-- they could very well be with one individual on a regular basis.

In terms of money-- before I left for Brasil, I got on the net and ordered me BRAZILIAN currency so that when I arrived in Rio the only thing that I would have to do was use it-- first with the taxi driver then in my tipping the bellman who took my bags to the room. I got on goggle.com and requested "foreign currency" and went from there. A fee was charged, but I did not care. My mind and spirit was eased when I arrived at my destination.

When I ordered my money which arrived via certified mail, I specified small bills-- R$1s, 5, 10s. This was oh so handy.

I got my R$50s from the ATM in Blockbuster's, but on my return trip I shall order a lot of fifties. (I did not feel to be in any danger, for the money was with me while on the airplane, in the taxi; then it went into the safe box in my room. No problem, men.

hank you for the positive replies to be fair to the others you have to bear in mind this is all fresh to me so i see things the others are used to and would not think to mention.

Before i forget - i was horrified to see the history come up in the web browser for the day - so now i clear the history when i leave the ahin in case someone else sees it. when i log on to hooboys site i dread the cover boy having some really explicit pose and some tourist looking over my shoulder!

Well Dalton arrived yesterday just 15 minutes late which in rio i guess you have to expect but in europe and i guess usa it would be a bit rude. Someone here posted that people will have different experiences with each guy and that we only post here for information. This was to be very true of dalton. He asked if he could smoke a joint to relax and i agreed. He laid on the bed with me and at one point as i was stroking his back he even fell asleep. He awoke shortly afterwards as i was losing the feeling in a part of my body he was resting on and had to move it. We ordered some room service and he ate some things form the mini bar. but as time progressed he did not make any moves towards sex. even when i started stroking his cock through his jeans after a while he rolled over.

Now a long time ago someone said that how people ac is often a reflection of how you are acting and i have raised this before that maybe im not sending out the right signals but it seemed clear to me that sex that evening may not be on the menu. Given that i had indicasted we would eat later and maybe go to a bar i was not happy at how things were going. i relaxed a bit more and even felt like sleeping and he seemed happy to let me sleep even- i guess anything other than sex until 9p when it would be time o start thinking about food. so i did a thing i am not proud of - i told him jet lag had caught up with me and that i would have a night cap then go to bed - i gave him R$150 as he had been there 4 hours and basically wsed him good night. He then got very kissy kissy and asked if i would ring him tommorrow so i made a show of taking his number but in truth i was glad to see the back of him.

He is a very nice guy but i should have limited my time with him to the sauna where each parties role is clearly defined. in the setting of the hotel i had clearly not made my expectations of him known. still i know better now.

Worse still (i only did it for you guys back home) i waited 20 minutes then snuck out to Rogers. It was 9:50pm when i got there so i was concerned it might not be busy. There were 20+ boys there and maybe 8 clients mostly older locals. The boys ranged from bodybuilders to slimmer younger guys. I have to say that they were not pushy, a little towel flapping but nothing more than that and everyone seemed in good spirits. Andre was there and he is very good looking but i cannot help but suspect that someone that goodlooking being there from start to end cannot be very good at what they do.

There was a guy there who was medium dark skin (sort of indian coloured) in his 20's who seemed very shy. I remember someone here saying that sometimes in going outside of their normal types that often had a good experience so i asked if he wanted a drink. ask i chatted to him closer inspection showed he was younger - in fact just 18.

He spoke little english but his friend spoke some more, as i chatted i realised that his friend was cute as well maybe 18 or 19 slightly young looking and slim also - a bit twinkish (but not blond obviouisly - are twinks all blond?)

I asked if they were active or passive and they stated theyy were both versatile so i decided to have a threesome but before we got upstairs (oops some names might help) Guedes the better english speaking twink said he had to go to sort something out and i was left with Viktor my first choice.

We went upstairs and i massaged his back and he massaged mine then we got down to business and i basically fucked him.

I was not impressed with the room which was basically a bed with walls around it. more worryingly - like someone reported at spa73 - there is a door leading to the rooms which gets locked as well basically locking you in. next time im there im going o look for the fire exits.

Guyedes appeared later and i invited both of them to jabbas place and we all ate a nice meal for R$106 - they both had steak and i had fish.

I asked the waiter to put the food in a box as dalton had shown me and i got geudes to give it to the poor but as we walked back to the hotel i was shocked at what i saw. as he approached some poor people sleeping in the doorways one women virtually snatched it from his hands and retreated back to her bed - it was animalistic.

Of course one beggar then approached us thinking i mite be a soft touch but he was warned off by geudes.

When i mentioned i was going to the statue of christ the redeemer viktor asked if he could come too. i asked why he wanted to but i could not get the question translated to my satisfaction so did not get a real answer other than maybe he has never been there before. they both will come to the hotel now so we shall see - needless to say its cloudy today so not sure how much we will see.

more later

One aspect of brasil cuture i do not like is this business of poor timekeeping. How late is a no show? 10 minutes? 15 minutes?

I have decided to set a cut off time of 20 minutes but whoe betide anyone who appears between 15 and 20 minutes because at 15 minutes i start to get irritated. Viktor and guedes (pronounced gadge as in gagdet)did not show up after 20 minutes and i am damned if i am going to wait any longer. Its definately a case of the tail wagging the dog here - how do i get in these situations?

Its good they did not because the desk clerk says on days like this the statue is in the clouds ie very foggy. if they had turned up what would we have done? where would we have gone? would they have wanted payment or is it their spare time or maybe they are cultivating a new profitable friend? Once again this is a direct result of me not establishing what is expected of all of us.

Viktor was a little cutie though - might do him again next time at estacio.

Well todays amended plan - there is a naval museum Espaco Cultural da Marinha that has a submarine and a torpedo boat. I shall visit there as i like naval themes then maybe a light lunch and club 117.

I must try to stick to the fruits breakfast time and not the cooked sausage - write 100 times

more as always later

Hello Driver, It's me your friend from DC. Your posts have been very interesting... sounds like you are getting around and having a good time... I fly down tonight and will arrive Rio around 12:30 tomorrow afternoon... staying at your hotel... let's have lunch at Maxim's... I'm pretty sure we have each other's surname... so I'll ring your room when I arrive... if that fails, I'll be at Maxim's round 2:00 (assuming flight is on time)... Have fun tonight.

Not being a fly on the wall, it's difficult to know exactly why some of your encounters have been frustrating. As you get accustomed to Rio and to Brazil you'll probably get better at communicating what you need/expect. Considering that you're paying for the experiences, you should be getting what you pay for. You also might ask Dalton or one of the other guys directly if there's a misunderstanding and if you said or did anything confusing or misleading so you don't do it again in the future. I'm sure they'll tell you. There's a word for "shy" in Portuguese, but the concept is more or less academic, because there's no such thing as a shy Brazilian, at least not by American/European standards! They're very direct and frank, and not in the least bit shy about discussing anything! :-)

Possibly you didn't make it clear from the outset that you expected action and not just company when you invited the guys to your hotel room. Try to be explicit that you're inviting them "para transar/fazer uma brincadeira (have sex), trepar/foder (fuck), etc." and not just for "companhia (company)."

As for the guys wanting to accompany you to Corcovado (or some other tourist attraction) in some cases they might be glomming onto a foreign gravy train, in others it may just be that they're genuinely interested in going. Some of these guys come from places in the interior just to make some money, and they may never have seen the sights, either! This can even happen with Cariocas, kind of like New Yorkers who've never been to the Statue of Liberty or the top of the Empire State Building until some out-of-town visitor provides the excuse. The guys may not be professional tour guides, but they can be useful company for someone who doesn't speak the language. At the least they should be able to help you find your way onto the right bus, steer you away from bad areas, and provide general security of the "there's safety in numbers" kind.

PUNCTUALITY: Kiddo, you're in a Latin country and you'll never get them to be punctual! You can try, but it rarely works. At best, you can maybe cut the 45 minute or 1 hour tardiness down to twenty minutes or half an hour, but if you manage to accomplish more than that, you've performed a miracle! :7 Sometimes guys are late just because it's a cultural thing: if you say you want to get together with somebody at 7:00, they automatically assume you really mean a later time and you won't even be there or be ready if they arrive right on time. Sometimes there are legitimate reasons (by our standards) like the fact that many of the guys live in distant suburbs and it can take them several buses to get from home to where you are, if that's where they're coming from. Depending on the weather or time of day, traffic is also a big problem. If there's an accident or streets flood after a big rain, traffic can be snarled for kilometers on end, and your hot date could just be stuck on a trapped bus!

The solutions? Just be prepared to go with the flow. Understand that when you invite somebody for 7:00, they may not show up until 7:45 or 8:00 and build that into your plans. If you REALLY want them there by 7:00, tell them to come around 6:00!!! Alternatively, tell them explicitly that you'd like them to be there at 7:00 "hora americana/europeia/alemã e não hora brasileira." (American/European/German time, not Brazilian time!) Let them know that you're not going to wait any longer than 20 minutes, and if they aren't there by that time you'll assume they aren't coming and you'll go out on your own. Sometimes that works, but not always! However, I've learned to stick to my own rule, and if someone doesn't show up within 30 minutes (this allows some slack for traffic) I go out. I figure that if they do show up later and I'm not there, they'll understand that I meant what I said and that they've wasted a trip, so maybe they'll be more punctual the next time. Like I said, sometimes it works, sometimes not. People who are experienced in being around Americans/Northern Europeans usually understand what you mean when you emphasize "hora americana," and try to be more punctual, but you're fighting a major cultural imperative and it's like swimming against the tide. About the only thing that works like clockwork in Brazil is intercity bus departures. They pull out of the station on the dot, and if you're late, you've missed the bus. Everybody knows that, and somehow people manage to be on time to catch their buses. For anything else, a specific time is interpreted as a broad approximation. :)

Driver, I do appreciate your daily updates. They beckon my attention as a "must read" before I engage in doing anything else for the day.

I do want to state that I hope you fulfill YOUR objectives.

<worse still (i only did it for you guys back home

Man, this is YOUR trip; enjoy it as YOU see fit. If you want to be with guys who have been previously with other correspondents, so be it, but to appease your own mind-- might I cordially suggest that you be your own person and seek out adventures which you deem important to self. Dalton sounded interesting to me from what TomCal presented; I might try to meet him when I return; I might not! Either way, from what you have been writing and from my meagre experiences in Rio, I support you and would like to read that YOU have gotten 100% from the experience/s-- even in your perhaps having encountered adversity.

Lastly, remember to go to the favales only with a reputable tour guide or company. Also, if you like Brazilian music and dance, try the Plataforma; I only heard rave reviews from those tourists who have gone; secondly, ERNANI seemed highly favorable when I stated to him that I had booked four to six hours to do this. Dinner is included if you go with a tour company. Try ipanema.com or ipanema tours-- reasonably priced, and you can pay in Brasilian currency. (I don't want to misspell the currency; that's the reason for the two words.)

Again, I hope you read Tri's eloquent and salient comments. Read mine, too. We are for you, man. You have our tacit support!
