Hi guys. I am new to this site, but I have noticed that there are no posts about Acapulco. I go there several times a year and want to let you know about my experiences and hope others will chime in.

First off, Acapulco is the best value during the summer. Most people do not think about going there during the summer because they think it will be too hot. The average temp difference between Acapulco's winter and summer is 3 degrees. However, because of the drop in tourism during the summer, you can find fantastic deals. Through one of the major airline's (starts with a "D") vacation packages (check their web site), I booked round trip airline tickets from SC to Acapulco and back, five nights in a five star hotel - right next to the gay beach (Beto's), all airport transfers and travel insurance for $800 (U.S.). Beat that! Trying to book separate flights without the hotel, would have been over $1,200 alone.

Now, an interesting wrinkle... Almost all of the major hotels in Acapulco will NOT allow you to bring back a local guest to the hotel - not even to have a beer in the hotel bar. I can usually get around stuff like that elsewhere, but not in Acapulco. They are very strict and it can be very embarrassing for you and the escort!! To get around this, I book the vacation package, check into my hotel (I pick Fiesta Americana, as it is right next door to Beto's beach) and use the room as my beach room. I then move to a small, all gay, luxurious guest house called "Las Palmas." Check out Las Palmas at http://www.acapulco-laspalmas.com. Great place to stay and fantastic staff, food.

During the day, I go to Beto's beach. For just a few bucks a day, you can rent a thatched roof cabana, complete with chairs, a table with a tablecloth and your own waiter (always ask for Jorge to be your waiter). This becomes "your table" for your visit and folks use it to find you, leave messages for you, etc. You can order food, drinks, jet-skis, whatever right from your table. They also take major credit cards, so you can run a tab. If you want food or drinks not on the menu, just ask and they will take care of you. They also have very clean bathrooms and a full restaurant/bar inside. If you tip the old man who cleans the bathrooms a couple of U.S. dollars when you arrive, the service you recieve will be outstanding.

Now, for the escorts... Beto's is known as being about 90% gay and the local boys and men flock there to find paying customers. Because the staff at Beto's want us to have fun there, they do a great job of getting rid of anyone they do not know or trust. As you sit at your table, usually starting around noon, a parade of local boys and men will start walking by. I like real twinks, but my friends like big beefy guys. We have never been disappointed. In fact, when Jorge sees me arrive, he puts the word out for me and pretty soon, I have twinks fighting for my attention (and cash, let's be honest)! Tip the waiters at Beto's - they work very hard, provide excellent service and deserve a good tip - you will get it all back in even better service! I sneak my full tip to the waiters in cash. If you add the full tip to a credit card charge, the house takes 50%. I leave a small tip on the charge card and sneak cash to the waiters.

Most of these escorts speak fairly good English and the beto's staff are eager to translate for you. Most are very well dressed (even for the beach), very clean and not on drugs. If you see one you like, simply offer him a chair around your table, buy him a drink (I found most just want a pepsi or a beer) and see if you hit it off. If you do like him, ask him to come back to your place (remember, you cannot bring him back to most major hotels, stay at a gay-friendly place that states your local "friends" are welcome). I usually ask them to meet me for dinner or afterwards and I give them a few bucks for cab fare so they can meet me later.

The staff at Las Palmas, and the other gay friendly places, know most of the boys and they will only allow them in if you tell them ahead of time that a certain boy or man is coming to visit you. When the boy arrives, he must give his I.D. to the hotel staff and they hold it until you give them permission to give it back at that end of your visit. They also keep the doors locked. That way, if the escort does anything wrong, they cannot leave without your permission. I have NEVER had a problem, but I like the extra security. Be aware, your guest must be at least 18. There are some places that will allow you to bring minors back, but you are taking a huge risk if that is your deal. You can easily find 18 year olds that look younger, so why take the chance? My experiences show that the police will ignore escorting, unless it involves minors and they do watch for that.

As for prices... As a former U.S. escort myself, I tend to over-pay because I know how difficult the job can be. I usually pay $100 U.S. (about $1,000 pesos) for an overnight - that is about twice what a business person (bank, hotel staff, etc.) can earn in Mexico during a week. Most others I have talked with pay about $50 for several hours. Now, you do have to discuss with the boy/man what he will or will not do (just like in the US). Some of the guys are "straight" but they will do most everything. I have had some who will only be orally serviced or only will be a top. I have also had completely gay ones, who want to do everything!!! Just ask before you commit. One boy I spent an entire week with started with just allowing me to blow him and he would give me a hand job. He was so stunning, I did not care, even though I am usually an active top. By the end of the week, we were doing almost everything, including kissing. Another boy I was with, was gay and we did everything from the very first meeting. In fact, he was so excited to be with a gay man, he insisted I stop paying him!!

I also have to report that, maybe I have just been lucky, but every single Mexican guy in Acapulco I have been with was hung like horse!!! Also, the boys/men in Acapulco tend to be somewhat lighter-skinned than most other Mexicans and extremely hairless, other than a usually dense pubic bush (the gay guys keep theirs trimmed). Most are uncircumcised, but, again, very clean.

Okay, that is a long enough post. Consider Acapulco and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. You'll find me back there in October and for Christmas!!! - Matt

I find that to be very strange. For example - say you are a businessman trying to negotiate a deal with a local. You wish to entertain him and want to invite him back to your suite for relaxed negotiations. Does this mean the hotel would say "no way!"?

I can understand why they may wish to keep hos out but I would find it very insulting if they just automatically assumed that every guest I wanted to entertain was a hooker.

Acapulco isn't the kind of town where lots of major business deals get done (it's a resort) but I'm sure they probably don't look as hard at people who look like business types. The hotel security probably all know the local hustlers; Acapulco is a fairly large place, but not that large. . .

You would not believe how strict they are!! You cannot get any local into the hotel, even if they are a business person. Trust me, I have tried bribing the security and hotel staff, but no luck. If you want to entertain a local, you have to go to a place that allows "local friends" to visit. No kidding around, it is very strict.

actually my friends don't work for another hotel...and I'm Very Familiar with this place, I knew the original owner well and he's the guy who built it...jorge leon. When bobby joe was ill david is the one who started all the crap that i talked about.

Believe me, I'm very well informed about the chisma of acapulco.

But enjoy if you will...since you carry a badge, introduce yourself to the police chief, I'm sure he'll enlighten you.

I've been to Acapulco many, many times, i lived there for a year before as well. It is very obvious that when an older (more than 24 or 25 yr old) gringo is walking into a hotel with an 18-24 yr old kid

what is going on....if you were to walk in with an older gentleman there wouldnt be any question.

As to Las Palmas....why stay so far? The guy James at Casacondesa is so much closer, nicer and just overall a more pleasant experience. I know from reliable sources that the police are watching Las Palmas due to the drug use that goes on inside. It will soon become like the old Caracol 90....owned by the government....do what you want but be careful.

As far as the boys on the beach, you are correct, they don't let the "trouble" hang around and yes Jorge will definately help you find what you want.

Hung like horses? more the exception than the rule....this would be true in say Cuba or Brasil but not Mexico...IMHO.

However these guys will hook up with you and maybe fall in love, for the week at least, and will spend all the time you want together, not feeling just like a commercial transaction like in other countries or with US escorts.

No, Thunderbuns, Tri responded to your state of bafflement quite succinctly. I, too, think if it is a BUSINESS deal, the meeting would not take place at a hotel bar or restaurant but in another venue of like.

Although I had not engaged the services of escorts when I took my first trip to Acapulco, I noticed that if you were not a registered guest, you did not step foot into the lobby or anywhere native guests or out-of-towners resided; I witnessed the same actions at the former Hilton Libre in Havana, Cuba when I was there in the mid 90's. If you were a guest at the hotel-- you could not bring men or women guests inside of the hotel, let alone into your room. (There were mighty a lot of fine men that I would have loved to have taken to my room, especially the light-skinned, green eyed beauties. Remember I like all FINE (in my mind) men-- not just those that I have briefly described.)

In countries where the tourist dollar is needed, the government protects its visitors from unwarranted problems. Shall we preclude that the same exists at major hotels in most Latin American and Asian countries? I think I have a reasonable answer, but I am a slight bit dubious in my assumption. (I have only had experiences in the places cited here in this response.)

Santiago was my first escort. I met him on the beach in Acapulco and fell in love. Suddenly he needed $50 to avoid eviction, so I gave it to him. hehehe He and his friend went to Mexico City to play for a few days.

Another young man was so sweet in bed, I gave him a nice tip. That night I saw him at Sanborn's, taking his girlfriend on a date...with the money he had indeed earned!

Acapulco...a magical and enticing spot!

While I was at Las Palmas, and, I'll be staying there again soon, it was completly drug free and minor free. As I carry a badge, legality is important to me. Your sources are full of it! While it is a bit off the main strip(3 blocks from the ocean and Beto's Beach), being allowed to bring "local" friends back is worth it - not to mention that is a fantastic hotel, with phenomenal Spanish architecture and the best staff you could ask for. Your "sources" are not reliable and probably working for another hotel.

Thanks for the info. I hope you are wrong (or your sources are), but, we have all seen this type of thing happen to other places. It would be a real shame,as the place is so great. Again, I keep a very close eye out for anything illegal and have never seen anything there, but who knows? Thanks for your info and I guess I'll just keep a caution flag out during my next visit. Please keep my updated on what you hear. Now, if I could just figure out a way to move to Acapulco for a year or two.

Yours in twinks and scotch,

Yes, Las Palmas is about 3 blocks from the beach, on a hill. It is an easy walk down to the beach, but after a day at the beach and a few drinks, I found it easier to grab a cab for $2-$4 back to the hotel. Still, worth the slight inconvenience to be allowed to bring locals back with you, be very well protected and waited on hand and foot. If other readers know of other gay friendly guest houses that are closer to the beach, I'd love to see reviews of them.

I owe you an apology. I talked with another person who has spent a lot of time at Las Palmas, who confirmed that there was a time that drugs were a problem. He confirmed everything you said. However, he reported that the problem has been taken care of and is no longer a problem (probably why I did not see anything while I was there recently). In any event, one of my responses to you was rude and I am sorry about that. Please accept my apology. - Matt
