A friend is going to London over Thanksgiving.Are there any "working boy "bars near Earls Court?

BG, I've been to London three (3) times in the last year, so I think I can offer you some sound advice.

 

The area around Earl's Court is very eclectic, home to some nice restaurants and cultural places, but no "hireable" bars that I know of. The area does have, however, some rentboy houses and cruising areas, which are well documented on the web or in any of the printed gay guides to London.

 

My advice is to enjoy London for all it has to offer, and utilize independent escorts and/or escort agencies, as you or your friend see fit. The choices are outstanding, the agencies are top notch and at least one of those (Villa Gianni, in Earl's Court), has a class operation.

 

I utilized one indpendent escort, who was FIRST CLASS (he's the reason I went back two more times) and I visited Villa Gianni and the herd was worthy of any place I've ever seen.

 

By the way, London public cruising, especially on the subways, puts New York, Philadelphia and DC to shame. Forget about the last car on any train; just hang around some of the more populated train stations (Kensington, Kings Cross, etc.) and something is abound to happen.

Hotdad is right. There's no "hustler bars" in Earls Court. There's a pub near Marble Arch (The City of Quebec) which caters for the older guy. It's quite pleasant in itself, relaxed and no attitude, and occasionally there are working boys, often Brazilian. I met two there but their rates was the same as a guy working through the web and the service was more "amateur". The latest I heard was that the manager is frowning on rentboys after some problems with a couple of the Brazilian boys. Anyway, if your friend goes Thursday to Sunday is best.

 

As respects cruising Hyde Park, the public bathrooms etc you should exercise a bit of discretion. Police activity is now much reduced compared with the 80s, but the Royal Parks Police (separate from the regular police) still patrol Hyde Park. If open air appeals to your friend, Hampstead Heath is the place but we are now in rainy autumn -it's in north west London, any gay guide will have details of exact location but no hustlers that I know of.

 

Just to correct a couple of Hotdads infos here and his next post so you don't get lost - the department store is Marks and Spencer (didn't know Kensington High Street branch was cruisy !), and the main museum is the British Museum (not British National Museum).

I had a medical student friend in London, take me to several nice places. Have no idea if they are still in business.
