I appreciate FFF's contribution--does anyone else have viewpoint on what it means to be "very Chelsea" if you are muscular for a guy like me who is in the boonies?

Don't be dense - a guy can "be" Chelsea without living IN Chelsea. In fact, he use to live in MIDTOWN and there are lots of "Chelsea boys" who live in midtown and Hells Kitchen.

FFF is correct, and lots of people still use the term, but it's a term that is losing its original meaning with each passing year. For the most part, the type of guys who were called Chelsea Boys in the 80's and 90's (huge from steroids, waxed and "perfect") are now either dead (I think they eventually just get so big they explode :o ) or moved to Palm Springs, Fort Lauderdale or San Francisco (that's where we see them on our travels: "So that's where he disappeared to!"). Chelsea as a neighborhood of "muscle queens" is quickly evolving into a neighborhood of young straight families, members of the hip-hop generation (of all races), and college girls. Derek and I never really fit in here. When it was full of Chelsea Boys, we were a skinny, vegan, monogamous couple. Now that we physically look more the part (without the 'roids) and participate more in "the gay scene" (whatever that is), Chelsea has changed and we are once again the odd men out. Or, at least that's how we feel (and I guess we like it because we stay).
