According to the latest issue of the Bay Area Reporter, organizers have decided to go on with the annual Folsom Street Fair, a huge event for lether queens. The producers recommend check all luggage as carry-ons will be scrutinized heavily.

From the article: "That means no handcuffs or sharp instruments in the cabin, and whips and spikes are likely to be confiscated by the airline. Even a codpiece or harness with metal buttons should not be worn unless you're prepared to take it off in a back room. On a recent flight to San Francisco from New York, security agents with metal detector wands demanded that a passenger remove his hat, studded belt, and steel-toed boots."

If you are traveling out of the USA (and are a USA citizen) be VERY circumspect when showing anyone your blue passport. Hold it in both hands when handing it to an airplane agent or customs official. Do NOT flash it around by any means.

Also, go to your local fake ID store (or check fake passports on the internet) and have a fake passport made. This is not to be used with officials, but to be used if hijackers take over the plane and demand passports from the passengers. Then you hand them your Red Japanese passport. Of course, it will help if you are Japanese. :-)

I just flew in from abroad -- actually got to the airport only 45 minutes before flight time, walked through the checkpoint with a coffee mug filled to the brim with Dom (ugh) and still had time to make a few phone calls before boarding.

The only thing I noticed that was different on the plane was the meals were served with plastic knives. (What's to keep a freak terrorist from breaking the wine glass and slashing everyone's throat that?)

The different thing was when we were landing, the voice from the cockpit read his usual "on behalf of the employees of Continental Airlines, thank you for flying with us." Well, he reduced the number by 12,000. :-(

(I wish the best for all you hard working airline employees and I hope people will do what I do and just fly somewhere every weekend. If everyone would keep staying to the skies, then jobs will be safe.)

One final travel tip, I think they should issue guns to everyone upon boarding the flight.

What if everybody posting on these boards were issued guns? Do you think anyone other than Matt would be left standing?>

Excellent point Lucky... ;-)
