My partner and I have plans to visit NYC in early August. He (in his mid 20's) and I (in my mid 40's) are both interested in seeing the gay scene, clubs, etc. that most tourists never see. We're considering hiring an escort to be our "escort" while in the city. Do any of you have suggestions on who would be good for this?

Well, I'm not one to promote myself on here :p but Derek and I love to play NYC gay tour guides. We love to take guys to places that only locals would know, and to give a gay-sex-in-NYC history lesson, too (we even did it during the blackout of 2003, walking the streets in the dark with KY-Top). I'm a native New Yorker, and it sounds corny but I'm proud of my city. A lot has changed in recent times with our last 2 mayors trying to make the city more "child-friendly" and bringing in the big chain stores like K-Mart and Home Depot, but there are still plenty of hot and fun places and things to do. We don't have one of those double-decker tour buses, but if you'd like, we can carry you both around on our shoulders. :)

I used Rick Munroe and Derek as tour guides a few years ago and had a great time. Saw many parts of NYC I would have never seen on my own and they also threw in abit about NYC gay history. They were great companions and even though we were thrown a curve ball with the blackout hitting, they just pushed on and made sure I got to enjoy the NYC I wanted to experience. I also very much enjoyed the conclusion of the tour, which included exploring each other in a 3 way, in the dark with just the glow from my laptop.

Whoever you choose, I'd suggest a native New Yorker and not someone that has just recently moved to the city.

WOW, it's been that long ago already. Seems like yesterday and tell Derek I still miss his moaning and watching him come to attention, when I played with his nipples. :p

Shit - I never noticed......

If Bloomingdales sold buns, I'm sure yours would be in their front window!

THIS IS NOT INTENDED AS A PUT DOWN

It didn't seem that long ago to me, either, until I checked your review! :o

I can do better than that; I'll suck one of his nipples and tell him it's from you, and when it springs to attention, I'll finish the job in your honor. (Btw, I still use that trick when I am in the mood but Derek's asleep or on the phone or doing homework...I just start to gently twist or pull on his tits and voila, instant sex. }(

Hey, thanks for the plug, KY; we had a great time that day and you were such a good sport about it all. And yeah, who knew a laptop's LCD could actually be as romantic as a candle? ;-)

>That's too bad, zipper...degradation turns me on. :p

I know what you mean - it's nice to be called a dirty little pig cock sucker upon occasion - especially if there's someone else around to hear it.

By the way - a put down is not exactly the same as a talented degradation session. Close, but no cigar.

"If my choice was Rick Munroe or Tom Isern, I would go to Chicago."

Don't ask me why, but I got an enjoyable chuckle out of this one. Maybe because I'm quite familiar with, and enjoy, Chicago.

I wasn't born in NYC but I moved here before I became a legal imbiber. Even I am tempted to take the Rick and Derek tour.

Even though nobody asked, my days of offering tours to visitors are long over. There are just a few things that bring my lack of patience to the surface: this is one of them. I find the work utterly exhausting and depressing. Folks who have little experience with New York City scare me, including most members of my family (immediates excluded).

To be a good tour guide, you must have a good sense of humor, have an upbeat personality, be knowledgeable, and not take yourself too seriously. It appears Rick and Derek would be an interesting choice. I would have included an email address to see if others who don't post might respond.

I adore Steven Draker and read everything he contributes here but I cannot endorse his recommendation. God forbid Greathands and his partner voted for Bush or they continually walk by reflective material.

August is not the best time to see gay New York, unless hanging with the guys who can't afford to leave interests you. Some NYC gay men on a budget are fun and not embittered but it's hard to find good men with any worthwhile experience or knowledge, and find them sober. I have confidence this paragraph doesn't apply to Rick and Derek.

I can imagine a great excursion: a day trip to Fire Island with Rick and Derek as your shirtless hosts. (Make sure they don't wear deodorant.) Get on an early ferry and sit downwind of them. Plan a late dinner back in Manhattan. For further fun, do a round-trip limo to the ferry docks and have Rick and Derek naked, making out.

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you a safe and enjoyable visit. I'll be in Sardinia thinking of you all. :-)

Guess the gay men in your circle do not attend the U.S. Open in late August, a 2-week event not known for attracting many men on a budget.

Off to Florence, Rome and Amsterdam, I'll be back later this summer.

Why, thank you, Rock. I don't think we could ever take ourselves too seriously, because we make fun of each other too much (kind of like The Ropers but younger, gay and we actually have sex).

>August is not the best time to see gay New York

But...everyone's half-naked and sweaty. Works for me!

No, the hardest thing we drink is cock (well, that's not drinking but it does involve wet mouths and slurping sounds).

Just a day? Can't we stay for a week? Rock, can't you set it all up? :p

Been there, done that, loved it, would do it again. }(
