I've never settled for whatever I was offered, nor have I ever discounted solely because a potential client was light in the wallet. I have however come down in price on occassion for a loyal client or someone I've become friends with, although it's never discussed or requested by a regular. If someone I get along great with hires me frequently, and shows signs of doing the same indefinitely, and if I repeatedly have fun with this client, I'll cut them some slack on occassion by saying up front "just give me x amount for tonite". It only seems fair to me to give someone a break who repeatedly spends a small fortune on my services. More than the financial savings, they seem to appreciate the very gesture. By the same token, a regular client may always pay the same amount, but one day will slip an extra $50 in the envelope, just because. It doesn't mean I can retire at last, it's just a very appreciated gesture.

I'm no expert and I'm certainly not an escort, but my feelings are that an escort should not routinely accept lower fees, as that sets a bad precedent. However, I think there are other considerations. I agree with your friend's thought that discounting is ok, it's better to have the work than not. But if word gets around that this is a standard policy, there's no point in having the higher rate. If it's a rare situation when the escort accepts a lower offer, that's his right.

 

I do feel that some circumstances may make a discount acceptable or even a good policy.
