Out-of-the-blue e-mails from escorts I don't know have been sprinkling my Inbox for the past week. One came from an escort with whom I'd had a very brief correspondence at least three months ago, wondering if "you're OK," as though I had somehow not showed up for an appointment. And this morning I got another one reminding me that we had had a brief correspondence as well. In the second case, I'd be surprised, as "Tyler" is 21 years old: hardly the kind of man I'd seek out unless I had a fetish for kids, which I don't. I did respond to the first escort, because I had, in fact, contacted him; but then he came onto me as though he would rush right over for any old fee I cared to mention. That, of course, is off-putting.

I assume that I'm being hustled. But when I pair those two events with the non-answers to serious inquiries to masseurs in New York, I wonder what's going on. Maybe it's a downturn in the market, except in Manhattan? Maybe it's a sort of last-minute escort's Christmas Club? Has anybody else had this kind of experience? If so, what gives?

Christmas Club? Now there's a marketing idea that Rick missed!:) (Although I suppose it is not too late.)

It seems to me that if you have an established relationship with an escort, it is okay for him to inquire periodically if there is any interest in getting together. Yesterday, a guy I have seen called out of the blue and it seemed awkward.

As for NY masseurs not responding, this is something I do not understand. I have called one popular masseur twice and he never returned my call.

Now that you mention it, I think I got the same email from Tyler. Since I don't believe I ever contacted him, I just deleted it with the rest of the spam. He probably went thru the email addresses listed in profiles here and just sent everyone a message to see if anyone would show any interest.

On AOL, you could screen out any e-mail containing the words "penis" and "boob" or any other words. Of course, that may also screen out mail you want to receive.
