Well, this has probably been asked before, so I apologize if it offends anyone. But I plan to go to New Orleans this year for Decadence on labor day weekend. Can anyone tell me anything about this event, as I don't know anything about it? Also can anyone recommend a hotel in the city itself (at least 4 stars). I've searched on Orbitz and saw a lot of hotels with reasonable rates, imo, but since I don't know anything about the city I would appreciate any advice, as I want to book flight and hotel soon. Thanks guys.

Be prepared for the heat and humidity. I've lived in Louisiana all my life but still hate the h & h of the summer.

Decadence is exactly that. Naked people in all the bars in the gay section and lots of wild sex there also. Some of it drifts into the streets. Most of the action is, of course, on Bourbon Street but some at other bars. The sleaziest place is the Phoenix on Elysian Fields Ave. At the Rawhide you'll get your dick sucked right off of you by the back pool table. What goes on in the toilets would make a Madam blush. The hottest looking dancers will be at Bourbon Pub and Oz. They're across Bourbon from each other at the intersection of Bourbon and St. Ann Streets. The area will actually be body to body in the evening. The party starts on the Saturday before Labor Day and goes on through Monday. Activities begin at about 1 PM and go until about 4 AM. Sex, alcohol, drugs and everything between. Depending on your view it is either great or pathetic.

A good hotel is the Monteleone on Royal St. Better are the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon and the Royal Orleans on St. Louis. These are higher end hotels. There are many other hotels but it depends on what you are looking for.

Thanks, kjun. I was hoping you'd reply since you live in NO and would probably know better than anyone else. Sounds like my kind of fun! Hot, wild, crazy and sleazy, does it get any better than that? :)

Actually, I don't do drugs anymore, but the rest sounds fun, as I would get there around 1pm and could go party right after checking into the hotel. FUN, FUN FUN!! :)

Hey kjun, I checked these out, but damn dude, I'm not John Rockefeller! I really don't want to spend $340/night just for a room I would only sleep in/have sex in. For those kind of bucks, I would rather hire a hot guy! I'm looking for a nice hotel within walking distance of Bourbon/French Quarter that is in the $150/night or less range. :) I found some that are on Canal street/adjacent to the French Quarter/aquarium that were 3 and 4 stars and looked real nice, but is this within walking distance of the Decadence action?

Thanks, :)

Hawkster... That'll make two of us at Decadence 2003 :)

I recommend staying in the Quarter, but not on Bourbon, as it will most likely be insanely stuffed with bullshit you may not want to deal with 24 hours a day. I've stayed at the W Hotel chain in NO, both of which are relatively well-priced (Hotels.com). One is located a little further from the action, but the other is quite close to where you'd want to be. I'm actually surprised at how unbooked most of the Quarter's hotels are and how cheap things are this close to the festivities... I searched Hotels.com & HB's Discount Travel and found some great prices/hotels.

Now, if you want to see me while in the Big Easy that'll be no problem~ I'll be dancing at Oz & Corner Pocket. It's something i've always wanted to try, so i might as well fufill the fantasy. Email me before you go and we'll get together & dance the night away @ the Pub.

WHOOHOO for exhibitionism :)

Warmest Regards,

Hey, Hey, Hey, sweet Benjamin

Definitely put me on your dance card!!!! Ooooh, I am definitely going to go watch you dance! Can I stuff some bills in a discreet area as you know I love doing that with dance boys from our previous encounter in SA. :)

Like you, I saw a lot of reasonably priced hotels in the area, but you know me, I'll need to walk back to the hotel. I want to book one asap, before they're all gone, as I already have my air ticket.

Send me an email, and let's work something out!, as you know you are my number one favorite guy! :) :) :) :)

Hey Hawk,

Check out http://www.turbotrip.com & click on New Orleans. I use those guys all the time since they are based locally in Metarie. They can usually find the sweetest deals. I was checking Fri till Tues Labor Day weekend--Hotel Monaco has 3 nights @ $99 each, 4th night is free. Its just across Canal on St. Charles. Also, I saw the Wyndham on the river<great view from the lobby> also has 3 nights @ 149 each, 4th night free. I have others I can recommend.

Just give me a holler,

John

On Hotel rooms: The area you describe near the aquarium is definitely within walking distance from the action in the quarter. The Monaco(866-685-8359)is a fine hotel and $99 a night for three nights is excellent if John is correct. The hotel is relatively new and a great place. It is a little farther from the quarter but within walking distance. I checked a couple of other hotels for you and they are all out of sight for that weekend. The hotels are grabbing what they can. Sorry about that.

John, I tried the same days and this hotel doesn't show up at all? Guess that rate is gone?? Also tried 8/28 thru 9/01 not showing up. Have you stayed at this hotel in particular? On a scale 1-10 what is it? Thanks in advance...

Late Night Babble 'Bout Nawlins

I will possibly be there as well but if I come, I'll be staying at a private home. I've stayed in the French Quarter a block from Bourbon and there is plenty of action. It's like being in a the crush of a circuit party and the fans who decided to take down the goal post after their team won the Rose Bowl, except nearly all are nearly naked. Kjun is correct. Why anyone who pay for sex that weekend is beyond me.

At the Rawhide you could be minding your own business with three other hot boys and all of a sudden this big fat hand with long finger nails will latch onto your thighs and you will turn your head and see this very large, very demanding man in a wig and dress surrounded by the likes of Logan Reed and several other porn pups who still remain nameless to this date. I will say one thing: having never done an adult film, that early morning labor day occassion certainly gave me a good feel for what it was like to be directed having sex by Chi Chi La Rue.

Hawkster, there will be plenty of children there. I first went when I was 27 and I have been there three times totals and either I am getting older (cue Mr. Ralph Malph here) or they are getting younger. You can see boys getting blow jobs on the balconies, boys getting rim jobs, everything but fucking on the streets itself.

I went the first time with a friend who is clean and sober and he had a great time. The second time, I was with some heavy circuit party types who had every alphabet combination you can thing of while I stuck to trying to teach every hot bartender I came across how to make a Cosmo (now with Sex In The City, of course they have learned to make them) without success. The strip shows are fun in the late afternoons but get rowdier and less decorus later on. However, getting into the nightclubs if you are not into dancing, is probably not worth either the expense or trouble.

There is plenty of action to see and do right on the street. Oz and Bourbon Pup will both have dancers and the best thing about the early to late afternoon time is watching the straight women oggle the strippers and tip them while the men act offended. You can easily tell by the dancers reactions and responsiveness to the women who the gay dancers from the straight ones.

As I did not do any party drugs, I would often sleep for a bit and wake up around 5 a.m. and wander back to the dance club, where they no longer enforced the dance covers and dance. I would strongly recommend you wake up before sunset one morning, and walk over to OZ and watch the crowd and then at 6 a.m. you can join the crowd on Bourbon down the block at the greasy spoon (cannot think of the name); it is the only time I knowingly eat eggs cooked in grease and I learned not to even think of asking them for egg whites in 1995. You will see people who have been up all night and people who are just starting their days. It is a genuinely fascinating city with a lot to do outside the French Quarter, but that weekend, that is the place to be.

Just remember to drink plenty of water.

Trying to please the easily offended[/b]

RE: Late Night Babble 'Bout Nawlins

THANKS for the great report on what to expect. Sounds like a blast to me, but I think I would have to be on party drugs to find myself at a bar at 6am, but I'll give it a try. Maybe I should bring film and camera. :)
