RE:

Here's a brief list of some great CDs to get in the mood

Adriana Evans, (self-titled) Classic, soul-infused jazzy R&B. Ranks with Billie Holliday's greatest. 1997 release

Beth Orton, Central Reservation, Acoustic, simply beautiful, folkie/singer/songwriter. At times slow and romantic, but try playing it on random.

Agreeing with Devon, Groove Armada make great compilations--their Another Late Night disc is amazing. (Believe it's only avail. as an English import CD.) Tracks from Aretha (daydreaming), Al Green (Truth n Time) and modern tunes from today's best ambient and downtempo producers.

Fila Brazilia, Jump Leads. Sounds great and runs the gamut to slow--fast. Another CD I'd recommend playing on random.

True Love Waits, Christopher O'Riley Plays Radiohead is worth checking out for piano enthusiasts. He strips down RH's progressive modern rock and creates stunningly beautiful melodies and rhythm. Try climaxing to Everything in it's Right Place--absolutely amazing.

Seal's latest, IV is also music to knock boots to.

Most should be available at major retailers, the Another LAte Night series may be harder to come by.

RE: Music for the mood

I long for an escort who could get hot over "Bambi Saidi" from the Latcho Drom Soundtrack, or Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor as played by E. Power Biggs on the organ at Freiburg Cathedral, (CBS MK

42643)

In either case, I would marry the man (as long as he could continually provide his own income.)

I believe Dalida was born in Egypt of Italian parents and lived much of her adult life in France. She is pretty amazing in many ways. Wish I could go back in time and see one of her concerts.

I've been studying a couple of her italian and french songs but today i'm singing Salma ya salama (The Arabic original) ( سالمه يا سلامه ) .

...

Dalida,

Ma Maniere,

A Greek-born (I think) goddess/icon/legend that was/is hugely popular in France. She is still beloved in gay bars. Sings ballads, dance club hits, ethnic clog dancing songs, etc. Best I can compare her to is Madonna, but not so pop-like. She looks like Sanra Bernhardt..

I'm surprised that anyone outside France has ever heard of Dalida. :) She was a huge star in the '60 and '70 and regrettably to many fans passed away in 1987. Her brother Orlando still appears on French TV every now and then.

Her most popular song that still airs nowadays "Laissez-moi danser"
