Saw it last night with Q/A with director and the dorkier of the two good young leads.  I'm tired of horror movies and this one is well-made.  Two good leads and always good Mia Wasikoska (spelling). Enjoy

I don't quite know why, but gay conversion is a subject that really turns me off. I know these programs exist. I know their history among religious people. I just think it's all bullshit and denial, and I feel sorry for anyone whose life gets swept up in it. As entertainment, I can't deal with it as subject matter. I feel if I watch, I'm giving the subject credibility. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the trailer because of the info you provided in the title. One of my favorite YouTube film critics reviewed the movie yesterday. Based on the info in your title, I could not watch the review. It's my own version of boycotting. I think you can call it a pet peeve. I'm the same way with reading the newspaper now. If certain words or names appear in an article title, I will skip the article and move on. Funny thing, if I don't know anything about the subject matter, I may open something and give it a chance. I wasn't always like this. LOL, this is what old age has done to me.

It is coming to Manila on July 1.  Given the horrendous traffic here, I hope it shows somewhere relatively nearby.  Thanks for the recommendation @Rod Hagen.  I have grown to hate horror movies because they’re all mindless slasher flicks now, but this looks like a good, old-fashioned horror movie.

I didn't know about the whole gay conversion part. Here's the official synopsis:

Leviticus is a 2026 Australian coming-of-age romantic supernatural horror film written and directed by Adrian Chiarella, and stars Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, Jeremy Blewitt, and Mia Wasikowska (also an executive producer on the film). It follows two teenagers who become tormented by a violent supernatural entity, summoned by their religious community, that takes the form of the person they desire most – each other.

Reviews are good:

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 93% of 115 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 7.8/10. The website's consensus reads: "Merging an emotionally-involving queer relationship with its clever monster concept, Leviticus executes its intriguing hook with eerie aplomb."

The reviews are good but I must say that I really did not enjoy the movie.  It’s too sad for me to be enjoyed.  The movie only showed one doppelgänger and not the other.  I was waiting for an epic battle to defeat this awful curse but of course that didn’t happen.  The ending was not satisfying.  The two looked so sad
