NYC Hotels: Tempo or Crown Plaza Midtown

Hello. Has anyone stayed at the Crown Plaza HY 36 Midtown on West 36th Street? The photos look nice. If you've stayed there any thoughts? I've been staying at the Temp by Hilton on Seventh and 47th. It's nice but Times Square is not really the place for me. Any thoughts on these two properties or, indeed, any other recommendations?

I’ve never stayed at either, but you’re still not very far from Times Square. When I was looking at the Crown Plaza, I saw rates around $200 which seems like a very good deal to me. But on other dates the rate started pushing $500 to $600, and I was having serious second thoughts.

Also, the rooms at the Crown Plaza look small to me, but it does have good reviews.

In my opinion, if you want a good 3-star hotel just south of Times Square and you can get it for around $200/night, I say go for it.

Otherwise, keep looking.

Thanks! My thoughts exactly. As I said I like Tempo - a lot -  but it’s pricey and they have resort fees. Somehow I missed the beach!

My go-to hotel is the Hyatt House New York/Chelsea on 28th St/6th Ave.  Even the smallest room is adequately sized, the beds are comfortable, daily housekeeping, adequate shower pressure, decent views, self-service laundry in the basement for long stays, and never had a problem bringing guests to my room (even after hours when lobby doors have security guard).  It's close to the R,W,1 trains.
