So I'm not in a panic mode yet, since my appointment is about 2 weeks away. I'm temporarily phone-less, so all of my contacts need to start over when I get a new phone. But, the provider I booked no longer has their ad up. Obviously I can't communicate with him by text since I don't have a phone, but even when I get one, I don't have his number anymore.

What do you do when a guy's ad is gone after scheduling? Assume your appointment is no longer happening and schedule someone else, or reach out to see if what you've arranged is still a go?

I reached out to this provider's boyfriend who also advertises via messenger to explain what's going on - was that crossing the line, even though he is a masseur, too?

In my experience, it’s not unusual.  They forget to renew, they’re not in a rush to renew, they don’t have the money to renew, etc. given your unique circumstances, I don’t think you crossed a line - but I don’t know if they will.o

In my experience, I simply send a text saying “hey, I see your ad is down.   Are we still good on our plans next week?”

It might be time to install WhatsApp so you have a computer app to use as backup

I have a regular masseur that will turn his ad off one weekend every month when he is spending time with his family.  He tells me that he doesn't get requests for appointments (except from a regular like me who doesn't look at his ad anymore) so he's not getting complaints about not responding the same day.  It seems to work for him.

Why would "everything need to start over" just because you're getting a new phone?  I assume Apple's software works like Android -- it's fairly easy to copy your information from your old phone to your new one.  Even if you don't want to copy over everything like photos, videos, music, etc, if you sign in with the same Google account (or, I assume, Apple id) and have the option to sync contacts selected.

Also, if you're using Android you can sign into your Google account at mail.google.com on any computer and send/receive texts there.  Not having used Apple phones, I don't know if they have a similar function but I assume they do.

Or are you just wanting to start with a clean slate with your mobile phone for some reason -- new phone number, new Google/Apple account, etc?

My phone got lost, which is the reason I'm having to start over. The guy at my phone carrier who got me up to speed told me that the type of phone I'm using (the cheapest flip phone available today) is what he uses with his kids as a "punishment phone" when they misbehave. I would find the latest, greatest phone people wait in long lines for to be a penalty phone. I don't understand them, and they have very short power life (compared to a flip phone). Now, back to checking on my Swanson tv dinner in the stove oven (and thank you Swanson for reading my letter request for those pearl onions to be taken out of my peas).....
