I read this morning that Newsweek spiked a Michael Isikoff story on Gary Condit and Washington DC "gay hustlers". Have any of you DC escorts been with, or know of anyone, who Gary Condit has hired?

Even if Condit hires escorts, he has a right to have his privacy respected on this site

 

Any escort offering this type of information would breach the implicit confidentiality rules associated with the services he provides. He would be scratched off my list immediately and probably off that of many others. You are inviting escorts to perform professional suicide by asking that type of question.

I'll weigh in with the opinion that if anyone can document to the satisfaction of The Washington Post, The New York Times or a national magazine that an elected offical hires male escorts, the papers should run with the story. Since a public official votes measures up or down having to do with sexual and/or GLBT matters, I would consider it pertinent to the offical's voting record and newsworthy.

 

Whether clients are identified on this message center is another matter. It's a point of ethics here that no one, politician or otherwise, ever gets outed. An escort or other poster would be blocked for revealing this information.

I too am a little concerned that soliciting gossip about a public figure's private life may cross a line... maybe not HooBoy's line, but another one I think we should all be aware of.

 

I think we should assume that all kinds of people read these posts and look for information that may be useful to them. Some of them may be in the media, information gathering of various sorts, or in law enforcement. It is one thing merrily to discuss sex and escorting with the (perhaps slim) wall of protection a screen name gives. It is another to talk about real people, especially when they are the subject of intense scrutiny in the press and by police.

 

Just a word of caution. I doubt very much whether this site is a widely used information site for media and police, particularly since the escorts who are discussed here have all self-identified elsewhere. But other information inadvertently disclosed could in fact be used by persons completely unknown.

I met him too, and was surprised that he was charming and very intelligent, not a redneck at all and probably a better speller than I am. That said he got famous with a very racist radio show. And while in small groups he will say "humoisexuehls" have a right to privacy and not to be persecuted, his public stand in Congress is disgracful.

 

I say that because all of us here are forced to contribute to the immense amount of tax money all senators and their families (loosely defined) as well as their inflated staffs are given. That extends to luxurious and life long medical care far beyond what 90% of Amercians can manage. No one regardless of constiuency should be shitting on tax payers, IMO.

IF Condit is ever named as a suspect, and IF it goes to trial, and IF he is convicted, then anything in the public record is open for discussion.

 

So far he has NOT been named as a suspect, he has NOT been indicted, there has NOT been a trial, and there has NOT been a conviction.

 

But you didn't ask about that, did you? You asked who was porking him based on unsubstantiated gossip, which has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with a potential murder trial.

Hi. I guess I don't agree that the sex lives of politicians are a legitimate news story. The fact that Dr. King was a philanderer doesn't really have anything to do with what he accomplished, so I don't see why it is relevant to other public figures. I suppose voters who agree with the criminal laws against prostitution could say that they have a right to know if Condit, a lawmaker, is violating those laws, but I hardly think any visitor to this website is in a position to say that. I also asked why FFF cares about what Condit does in private, which is a somewhat different question. Do you care what he does? If so, why?

Dear Mr. Foom:

 

I can only speak for myself but,

 

--I like my politicans, left and right, out and if verifiable sources out the politican so be it; I am glad that the story got out. Barney Frank has survived quite nicely in the Congress for many years. Other legislators with less progressive constituencies might have more of a problem. If enough politicians from conservative districts were outed, maybe their constituencies would lighten up a little.

 

--I also think that the sexual lives of politicians from Bill Clinton to Henry Hyde are not much of an indicator of what kind of leadership they will provide. Sexual scandals are an easy way to hang an opponent, Zippergate certainly showed. Media manipulation is clearly evidenced here as the Republican leadership that fathered illegitimate children was so easily forgiven while the hounding of Clinton for his womanizing knew no boundaries.

 

Those are both comments about public outing by verifiable news sources in mainstream media. On this message center, the rule, "Libel or personal information will be deleted" prevails.

 

I do think that claims like this about any legislator or public figure are fun.

condit is a democrat. his district in california is not especially conservative. modesto is relatively "progressive," in fact.

it is worthy of note that condit was among the first congressmen to decry clinton's indiscretions. his being a democrat has nothing to do with him being a hypocrite.

being a DC native, i really think the hypothesis that condit is gay is BUNK.
