Outrageous - The Tales of the Mitford Sisters

Based on the story of the Mitford sisters, six sisters who refused to play by the rules and whose often-scandalous lives made headlines around the world. Set in the 1930s, it is a tale of betrayal, scandal, heartache and even imprisonment.  

 

The Sisters included a famous author, a communist, a Nazi sympathizer, and a smattering of British fascists.  Oh, and the only boy in the family, also Nazi sympathizer, had an affair with a boy at Eton and then went on to have affairs with women later in life until dying in the war fighting for Italy against the Allies - although I'm not sure he's in the show in a major way.

The best of the lot was Deborah Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire.

Unity was a mess...

When the United Kingdom declared war on Germany she attempted suicide in Munich by shooting herself in the head, surviving, but with extensive brain damage. She returned to England but never recovered, ultimately dying from consequences of the wound.
