A text message from an RM guy I've never met

Yesterday, I got a text message from an RM guy - that I've never met - announcing that he was going to be visiting the city I used to live in - Nashville.   Needless to say I was surprised.

I don't subscribe to RM (although I do have a user name that I occasionally use) 

I'm honest and transparent with guys I meet about who I am and I don't use a burner phone.   I also don't delete texts, so if I'd communicated with him, I'd have a record.

But this guy simply isn't my type.

I looked the text message number on MrNumber and he has two entries:

• "Sketchy escort who claims to be on prep and negative? Be Careful"

                 and

• "Brunnofit charges too much for service that was slightly below mediocre I mean come on really..."

His RM ad uses a different number and has 5 MrNumber reports with 3 of 5 less than flattering.

Sooooo, I've blocked his number - BUT the question - how did he get my number?

On occassion I will get a RM message from an escort I have not met or looked at their profile.  Its easy to get all RM account activities by googling Rentmen and the city.  Youll get multiple links to all RM accounts, escorts and clients and when they last login in. Thats probably what he did. Ive actually messaged several clients, of which I am one, in my area, weve chatted and decide to meet.  No harm no foul.  Just two interested guys and no charge sex.

An example.   Google "Rentmen Ann Arbor".  The third link shows 275 clients.  Click on it and it shows their account activity (most recent first).  Its an optional way to meet someone.

Well, I did that for Ann Arbor and all the profiles seems to be providers and not clients.   I'm not a provider.   When I did it for Nashville (my former home), nothing like that came up

Scroll down on the Ann Arbor search to the third link.  There are 275 clints and their profiles are all linked. 

I just tried your Nashville situation.  Interesting the client links didnt show or are far down the list.  

You can search detroit, flint, lansing or ann arbor and the client links are there.  I check once and awhile for obvious reasons.

Phileas, I saw several adult actors recently. One of them gave my contact info to a new actor. Initially, I didn't mind it. However, two different entities were talking from his phone and RM messenger. One was probably AI because the communication sounded robotic. It was too bizarre, and I decided not to pursue him.

I did choose the third link.   Everyone was referred to as a "pornstar performer" and the heading said it too.   Do you know for certain there are some clients among the list?

The list of 275 is exculsively clients.  You have to select another link for providers. Not sure what youre looking at.

I think it would be very concerning - the simplest answer is that one of the providers you have seen has passed on your number to his friends.  While it could have been a well intentioned "this guy is a great client you should reach out!' it is An incredible breach of trust in my view. 

I would start by looking at the other providers in Nashville you have seen and ask them:  do you know 'brunnofit' is he a nice guy?'  to get an answer as to who has done this. 

 

I would be furious.

I think maybe you reached out to one of the Nigerian scammers who get the fake adds on Rentmen.  one reason I never hire someone without reviews both here and on Rentmen

I'm actually pretty meticulous about only contacting vetted providers. I've only ever made one exception, and that provider has since received positive reviews here.
