That makes sense that he wants to know if you're in Bangkok now.  When I'm traveling and I message a man, I always let him know in my first massage that I am in his city.  Because he can see that it is from an out-of-town telephone number, it makes sense for him not to waste his time responding to every message he receives unless a potential client is already in his city.
