'Knots Landing' actor James Houghton has died

For those of you who watched the series 'Knots Landing' for 14 seasons (1979-93) like I did (or are starting it now on 'Amazon'), some sad news to share...actor James Houghton has died at the age of 75. 

Houghton played the young, cute, hunky neighbor 'Kenny Ward', a music producer / serial cheater married to 'Ginger Ward' (Kim Lankford) from 1979 - 83, when they were written out of the series to bring in different cast members / storylines. The couple's departure with their 'new baby' was written off as a move from LA to Nashville, for Ginger to become a country star.

Houghton actually died on August 27, 2024 at his home from cancer, but his wife did not want to release the news until a few weeks ago. He was also known for his role on the soap 'Young and the Restless' prior to joining KL, and then returning in the 90s as a writer, winning four Emmys.

His career in soap operas, primetime and daytime, also included ‘The Colbys’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful.’

Lar Park-Lincoln, who played Linda Fairgate in nearly 50 episodes of CBS’ 1979-1993 primetime sudser Knots Landing, died on April 22. She was 63.

A cause of death was not immediately made available. Park-Lincoln had battled breast cancer since 2008, and as of 2012 had already gone through nine surgeries.
