LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-01 AT 12:48PM (EST)[p]I find it very frustrating reading reviews that leave me with no idea what the escort is about: top, bottom, versatile, kissing enthusiasm, overall enthusiasm, personality etc. An example is yesterday’s review of Dean/NJ by xander (his third review). First, let me thank xander for taking the time to submit a review, the lifeblood of this site -- I appreciate the effort. And I don’t want this post interpreted as throwing bricks at him or others but rather an attempt to improve the content and thus the usefulness of future reviews so that will be more helpful to others -- because, if they are not then they are of little value, ultimately.

 

What I learned about Dean was simply his physical description and the fact that xander was very happy with him -- but I haven’t the faintest idea why!! And xander says that if I’m looking for a handsome clean-cut guy I wont’ be disappointed. Well, I’m usually looking for a handsome clean-cut guy -- but to do what? more than hold up the wall paper posing. IMHO the difference between a top and a bottom is night and day -- a small detail neglected; or what about if Dean doesn’t do either but gives massage... that would be nice to know too.

 

This does not mean that the review necessarily must be all that explicit. I don’t write very explicit reviews myself; oh, maybe occasionally I approach the edge but not usually -- there is no need. But I think that everyone who reads my review knows what I was looking for, whether I found it and if I was pleased. YOu may have to connect the dots but they are usually not spaced very far part -- its quite easy to do by looking at my assessment of their preference: top, etc, a description of my preferences, and my assessment of the experience generally.

 

An example of an information rich review, also appearing today, is of Estephan by BigDickLover. I also met Estephan and this review is pretty much right on with my experience as well, although I differ somewhat on the physical appearance (read body) of Estephan (I was more impressed and pleased). Nevetheless the overall experience was similar and reading this review gives condiserable insight into the physical and behavioral aspects of the escort -- I think I got a reasonably complete picture of what I should expect with this escort.

Good points.

 

While HOOBOY has done a tremendous service in setting up the major criteria for reviewing a guy, on the parts which cannot be programmed (eg. "what happened?", "what did he do?", "what did you do to him?" etc... it is left to the client/reviewer, and his own honesty and integrity to fill in those areas.

 

Sure many do not like to go into great detail with the mechanics of the visit (many of us are not porn writers on the side). There is a hesitency to also reveal certain aspects of an escort which may not be for public consumption (eg. he's willing to bareback, or he has a certain kink side, or he does not kiss or reciprocate in oral/anal - despite being billed as versatile - perhaps bercause the client/reviewer himself and the escort did not have good chemistry (that is, why complain about the guy when it may be ME who is the problem - bad breath, bad looks, bad attitude, etc...) So... to avoid the rebuttal of the escort we go along with the thumbs up review.

 

Maybe we need to remind each other to be honest and upright in our reviews, and be willing (as I often am) to answer discreet inquiries through a private e-mail.

Then please tell us about the show or opera or whatever was so pleasing that we'd be very satisified. And if there is more to report there is no need to be lurid -- a point I thought I made previously.

I would be very cautious of reviews which won't even say whether the guy will kiss, or whether he tops, bottoms, or does neither. I feel these reviews have a high liklihood of being written by scam escorts themselves. Not that they all are--however, I see it as a red flag. Why would someone take the time to write a review and then not provide the most basic information?

Good point! However, IMHO, the reviews need to be written in such a way that simultaneously conveys a certain amount of infomation about the escort and what he is into and protects his privacy. That's easier said than done. When I wrote my very first review I purposely left out some of the details because of my concerns about the escort's privacy. (We didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I just thought that certain things should be left to the reader's imagination.) After I sent in the review, I reread it and decided to revise it be adding a few more details. The revised review, which is the one that got published, is much more detailed and still addresses my concerns about the escort's privacy.

Even before Tampa Yankee's post, I was bouncing reviews which, to my mind, did not include useful information.

 

Fact is, there are SO MANY reviews coming in, if they do not offer anything other than "press release" information, then it is a waste of my time and yours to post them. Some times I do not even acknowlege them because that takes time as well.

 

On the review submission form, you'll notice a blurb on this.

 

Please don't take me to task for publishing a review that you think is worthless and by the same token, leave me alone when I dump your review that contains one or two sentences. "he was great, we had a good time. I recommend him." It takes me as long to post that as it does a well thought out description of the escort - not necessarily a graphic description of what went on, but an informative discourse of what we might expect.

 

Does that sound fair?

Case in point. I'm heading to South Beach and Anthony (reviewed today) has always been on my to do list. I like my men tall, but is Anthony 5'9" Graphman or 6' JaxJoe. Maybe Bottom could be the tie breaker if he answered the question.
