The connecting Concourse is home to the light sculpture connecting the West and East buildings of the National Gallery. It has approximately 41,000 LEDs and they do not repeat the pattern. The artist is Leo Villarreal. 
It’s very cool I thought.

Meh.

Maybe I’m missing something, but it looks like trashy airport "art" that they’d install at LaGuardia.

Well, you wouldn't have had any idea what sort of art (or 'art') they had at some airport that's on the other side of a river.

That said, it's interesting to see what use some artists are making of light, both artificial and natural, in their work. I should catch one of those hourly planes to check it out. And the art work at LaGuardia.
